SCRIM UPDATE:
I think hands down, this is my favorite Scrim video ever sent to me...well, or at least in equal standing with the 'SCRIM M*THER F*UCKER' video sighting. This video perfectly captures how we feel when we see him too!
As one of the recovery team members said: "I want her to follow me around and pep talk me through life".
This video was taken last night around Banks/Dupre. The team was there within minutes and he was no where to be found.
It looks like his coat is finally growing out, giving him some much needed protection from the elements!
You can check out his recent locations at www.scrimtracker.com.
Keep those sightings coming to FiveOhFour.231.7865.
Thanks! Michelle
Nothing makes my heart happier than seeing our fosters thriving in a home environment. Bonus points if it’s in the snow!
Meet Abby and Fluffy, two lucky pups who spent the recent snowstorm frolicking in one of our favorite foster homes.
Abby came to us back in June from our friends at the Jefferson Parish Animal Welfare Society. When she arrived, she was completely shut down (kind of like Scrim was when we first got him). She wouldn’t even walk. But thanks to the dedication of the ZP/ZR Krewe and the love of a skilled foster home, Abby has learned how to “dog.” She really shines when she’s around other pups, so a home with another dog is an absolute must!
Fluffy came to us as a shy little stray but quickly found her confidence alongside Abby in foster care. She’s a total cuddle bug who adores other dogs and has blossomed into such a sweetheart.
If you think Abby or Fluffy might be the perfect addition to your family, head over to www.zeusrescues.org and fill out an application! Not ready to adopt? Fostering is a great way to make a huge difference. You can find the foster application there, too, along with all our amazing pets looking for either temporary or forever homes.
SCRIM UPDATE:
It’s been 36 hours since our last photo or video sighting of Scrim. There were some overnight sightings near the Zulu headquarters on Broad, which makes sense since he does cross Broad from time to time. I’m holding out hope for photo confirmation that he made it through this frigid night. Fingers crossed he comes out for food today. Michelle
HE'S ALIVE!
Scrim made it through the snow! We can all take a giant sigh of relief.
This video was from 6:43pm. He was headed to Carrollton from Bienville.
The recovery team that lives in Mid City are out looking for him.
Please put out food/warm water for him if you live in Mid City. He is looking for food and warmth.
He is resourceful. If we give him a little help, he just might make it through this. Thanks. Michelle
SCRIM UPDATE:
Scrim was very active around Mid City yesterday. Someone sent me this video of him traveling down the track by Rosedale. Railroad tracks are one of his favorite 'interstates' where he can quickly and safely get from one area to another.
We have moved our humane traps, feeding stations and trail cams to his new areas. He looks good in the video. Thanks to everyone that is putting out food/water/blankets for him. Knowing when he goes under a house to rest/sleep will be key to safely capturing him. I really hope that someone sees him duck under a house and lets me know! That would be ideal!
MUCH LOVE to Bayou Daiquiris for hosting their gumbo cookoff and fundraiser last night. The gumbo teams served up some of the best gumbo I have had in a long time. It was great to meet so many people who love and care about Scrim as much as I do. It was a great night, and all the money raised last night is going directly to the medical care of the rescues in our program! Michelle
Meet Skye. This 7 month old little boy came to us back in September as a tiny stray. Skye was lucky enough to end up in our of our very best feline foster homes! They sent us this video and write up!
"New year? New you. New pet? Adopt Skye.
Meet Skye. This handsome young man was found wandering solo and deathly sick during Hurricane Francine. Skye was less than one month old then. He was taken to Zeus’ Rescues where he underwent intensive care and nursed into this seven-month-old lovable purr monster you see in front of you.
Because of his upbringing, Skye is used to being cuddled and held. In fact, one might say that Skye craves it with how he melts into your arms as he gets all the pets he deserves and you get lost in his purr.
Skye has quickly acclimated himself to home life, making himself comfortable on any and all soft surface, wandering the apartment with confidence while exploring his new surroundings. One might say he was ready to get out of the side-by-side cubby at the rescue for the first time in his life.
He is also incredibly playful and hasn’t met a toy he doesn’t enjoy. He is particular to his toy mouse and ball spinner (that hand-eye coordination), but crinkle balls and springs are a close second.
Skye is great with other cats, yet unknown how he’d be around dogs. He knows what they are for sure after being in the rescue for more than six months before being paroled on New Year’s Eve.
Be sure to follow his foster on Instagram for more pictures and videos - @tylerfosterscats."
If you are interested in Skye, please complete the application at www.zeusrescues.org.
Scrim update: We have had no sightings since Sunday morning at 7:00am on Orleans Ave near City Park Ave. We have feeding stations and humane traps set and ready for him. If you live in that area, please consider putting out a little food/water/blanket/something warm for him. Thanks! Michelle

SCRIM UPDATE:
Scrim was on Orleans Avenue, headed to City Park Avenue at 7:20 this morning. By the time the rescue team made it out, he was already gone. Much thanks to the person who sent us this video, confirming he was OK.
Barbara, Tammy and Bonnie have been out this afternoon, looking for Scrim in his last known area, baiting the traps, putting out liquid smoke trails to them and filling the feeding stations in the hopes of capturing him before the cold snap tonight.
If you live in Mid City, please consider putting out some food/water/a blanket for him. It is going to be cold for the next couple of days and we want to give him his best chance of survival out there.
Please, if you see him, text FiveOhFour.231.7865 with his location/direction traveling. The recovery team is standing by.
Thanks
Michelle
Scrim Update:Scrim made it through the New Year's fireworks!
I want to send a HUGE thank you to the driver/passenger who was quick enough to catch a fleeting glimpse of him on the run. This was our only sighting of him yesterday as he crossed Esplanade down Gayoso towards Gayoso.
We continue to search for his new location so that we can place food, water and the humane traps to hopefully get him to safety before the cold weather comes in a few days.
Thank you to everyone who reports sightings. If you see him or think you might know where he hides (under a house/in a backyard/general area) please text me at FiveOhFour.231.7865.
Thanks! Michelle
Scrim Videos:
Thank you to everyone who reported sightings of Scrim in Harahan last night and for not giving up hope on his successful recovery. I’d to share the last two videos we received from the public of him.
The first video 100% confirmed that Scrim was in Harahan. (We’ve received photos/videos of dogs resembling Scrim, from Kenner to the LGD, but none of them were him)
The second video is from Christmas Eve, which I had initially hesitated to share. After that sighting, we had no updates, leaving us uncertain if he successfully crossed the train tracks. I didn’t want to share the video if it marked a tragic ending for him. Tammy thoroughly walked the tracks from Old Metairie to Uptown looking for him, but it now seems that Scrim followed the tracks toward Harahan instead of Uptown.
We’ll be hanging signs in the areas where he was seen last night and have humane traps ready to set up once we better pinpoint his location. Scrim is terrified of fireworks, and when they start going off, he’s likely to run, making it hard to predict which direction he might travel. Please keep an eye out and report any sightings by texting FiveOhFour.231.7865 with any sightings. He could stay in Harahan, head to Kenner or back to Mid City or Uptown. There is no way to predict where he will run when the fireworks start, and he is in flight mode. We can only hope his street smarts keep him safe.
I’ve received numerous texts, calls, and DMs about the various Scrim pages circulating on social media. To avoid confusion, I’ll start updating the original Scrim pages I created when he was safely recovered in October. These pages will now share the same updates I post on Zeus’ Place and Zeus’ Rescues accounts.
The other pages are managed by individuals unknown to me and feature their own ideas, memes, links, and updates, etc. While I’m not in any way asking you to not follow them, I want to clarify that only the pages under my business accounts contain the
Meet Norman and Francis. They are safe:)
