KAYCEE and KYLO killing it on “place” 🤎🖤 Impulse control and learning the “art of doing nothing” are two vital skills every dog should learn. “Place” is a crate without walls and a skill that is so handy for a lot of scenarios….A multiple dog household, when you have guests over and you want your dog present but respectful of space, outings where you’d like your dog to chill beside you, and many other situations. Setting clear standards is what we do here so your dog knows without a doubt what is expected. Then we ask you to hold your dog to the very same standards. This makes for a great relationship and much easier life together! Goooooood dogs

Remember UNO’s introduction to the muzzle last week? Check out his progress! For a dog new to wearing a muzzle it can feel very awkward to have it on and just move around-like struggling to walk and chew gum so to speak. By introducing it slowly and pairing it with other things he has learned in training-like good leash manners, it helps him focus on what he knows, and the positive experience he’s had with working together and wearing the muzzle. We are continuing to build a positive association! He is not trying to avoid or remove the muzzle. His tail wags never cease and his enthusiasm rubs off on me! Goooood boy 💙
It’s a ✨beautiful ☀️ day for some confidence building! UNO is crushing it 💪🏼 and we have special guests ROCKY and ROSIE who got to have some fun together too. They are here for refreshers while their family enjoys some time away. We finished our exercises with a doodle “place party” where they all got to relax and decompress. Goooooood dogs! 💚💙💜

Uno Muzzle Conditioning
I don’t believe in slapping a muzzle on a dog and throwing it into an uncomfortable situation if we can train to avoid it. When muzzling, we need to respect the dog and understand how it’s feeling. Muzzling is an extra precaution for “just in case” and it needs to be introduced properly and practiced so there is less negativity associated with it. I treat it like every other tool and teach the dog to have a positive or otherwise neutral response when it’s presented. Uno has been a very willing boy so far! 🖤

“Place” games, featuring LUCY and SPENCER! Place is a crate with invisible walls. It can be anything you want it to be-a rug, towel, dog bed, etc. It’s the concept of staying in a spot, and exhibiting calmness and good manners. Gooooood dogs! 💜💙
Baby EINSTEIN finishes his basic obedience program today!! 🎉 His confidence has gone through the roof since preschool! How can you not smile at those little bunny hops? Goooooood boy!
MOJO completed his program! 👏🏼 He is proof that you CAN teach old dogs new tricks. I’m so proud of him for the effort he gave me and hope he continues to grow more confident as he practices his new skills at home. Gooooooood boy! 💙
✨Take Turns✨…One of the most difficult parts of being a full-time dog trainer is making the time to spend with my own dogs. Purposeful time doing something fulfilling. But if I am encouraging clients to find the time in their busy days, I am required to live by example and lead the pack. “Take Turns” is one of Daisy and Tate’s favorite challenges. It cultivates patience and commands respect for each other by having them wait to retrieve. It is fun and simple! And it satiates their natural desires while holding them to a clear standard. It wears them out in 10-15 minutes. The use of brain power can be a life changer for your dogs. Tired dogs are good and happy dogs! 🐾💕
ELLIE and OREO have been learning how to be respectful of personal space and less demanding for attention. Ellie used to jump all over people, shove Oreo out of the way, and “steal his pets”. By teaching them how to honor each other, they are learning patience and that there is plenty of love and affection to go around. We always reward good manners!

BODHI’s adventure hike was more than just fun enrichment, we also worked on holding commands and recall. Major applause 👏🏼 to his owners for training him to come to ecollar vibration! When your dog has a good foundation you can continue teaching and layering new concepts to challenge and keep them fulfilled. It really is a team effort! Ecollars, when used properly, are an excellent means of communication 🖤
Training dogs really do live with me, go where I go, and do what I do! The drains needed to be dug out given all this rain we’ve had and for what’s coming….KING is a farm dog so it was a perfect job for him to help me with and give him some enrichment!
