Why the Name Alley Cats?
“Growing up in Chicago as a child, we didn’t watch much television, there were no computers, no cell phones and didn’t have many backyards to play in, so a little gang made up of myself, my sister, cousins and friends, loved to run the alleys...from thereon we were known as the “Alley Cats”
I felt there was an artistic flare to alleys, invoking creative ideas, and providing a variety of colors and architecture. I have always been drawn to artists and their abilities. And have entertained thoughts over the years of opening some type of market to feature artisans of all types, I just wasn't sure how it was to happen.
So one day my husband and I were on a walk ..through the alleys of New Philadelphia, and happened upon a building for sale. It was the old Community Hospice Browse and Buy in an alley off Broadway. We have always supported Hospice over the years at the Knisely Hog Roast, so we thought this must be a sign… and this began the idea of Alley Cats Marketplace.
Alley Cats Markeptlace A 5,000 square foot marketplace with over 50 regional vendors, providing an eclectic mix of arts, crafts and other distinctive products. Offering customers a unique shopping experience, a visit with friends in the social area or participation in one of our monthly events. The market is a balance of mixed products/goods/retail so all customers to always find something of interest.
