Socialization is an extremely important aspect of training! Forrest and Deco did so well for their socialization session. Both pups are 17 weeks old and are already so well behaved!

Here’s an update on our “Best Week Ever!”

Little Miss ‘Sunday’ now goes by ‘Sunshine.’ She is enjoying life with her 2 fluffy siblings and LOVES her new momma. She will remain in my program as a potential mom in the far future!

Mr. ‘Monday’ has stayed very close to home having stolen our hearts. His name is now ‘Deco’ and has a comfortable life on the water with my parents.

‘Tuesday’ has a wonderful home with the most amazing avian biologist and now goes by ‘Forrest.’

Wild ‘Wednesday’ took a road trip down to South Florida as a service dog prospect! His mom is doing an amazing job training and socializing and he already has a training tile and another title pending! He also has the new name ‘Java.’

‘Friday’ now lives with her dad at The Olympus Standard Poodle and goes by ‘Musa.’

‘Thursday’ and ‘Saturday’ went home with a wonderful family and now live just a door away from eachother. They’re names are now ‘Luna’ and ‘Anime’ respectively.

And last but not least their amazing mother and my best friend has recovered beautifully from pregnancy and nursing. She is a ball of energy as always!

I couldn’t have asked for a better litter as the foundation of my program and I am so lucky to have found such amazing homes for my pups. I loved them first but it’s their new homes that will love them forever.

Pups did so good on the car ride to the vet! They all got a clean bill of health. 8 weeks old on Wednesday, ready to go to their new homes! P.s. they are sooo tired 😴

First groom ✔️
Early introduction to clean face and clean feet is essential. Standard poodles need haircuts regularly so we like to get our pups very comfortable with grooming before they are sent home!

We began grooming desensitization today! An electric toothbrush is a perfect first step! The noise and vibration introduced while the puppies are nursing lets them get used to the noise/feel of clippers.

Must have been some gooood milk because Mr. Wednesday wont even wake up to be weighed. They’re getting a little too big for this scale. Time to upgrade!

We are so happy to annouce Day’s pregnancy has been confirmed! Pups all look healthy but we don’t know exactly how many. Parents are OFA and DNA tested.

Day was loving her walk this morning! The squirrels were not a fan however.

We are so excited to announce this pairing! This litter has been in the works for a long time!

Both parents are AKC and have Embark DNA, OFA Hips, OFA Elbows, OFA Thyroid, and Cano has OFA Cardiac.

Both these dogs have wonderful temperaments and working ability and Day was a working service dog for almost 2 years.

Service dog prospects are expected and Volhard testing will be done.

This pairing will only produce partis. We are expecting Brown, Silver Beige, and Café au lait.

Pregnancy to be confirmed.

Otherwise known as “Day” or the reason we breed poodles. It was love at first sight when we met Day at only 5 weeks old. Born December 30th, 2018, she is a gorgeous Silver Beige Parti with incredible intelligence and ability to work. She exceeded any and all expectations we had for her as a working service dog for nearly 2 years. Day continues to be a dream dog at home today and is truly our sunshine on a cloudy day.

Welcome to Light of Day Kennels.

We breed gorgeous, conformationally correct standard poodles with a focus on producing service dog prospects. Every poodle in our program completes a set of health tests, i. e. OFA Hips, OFA elbows, OFA thyroid. A temperament test prior to any breeding is so important to us because we want the best well rounded puppies.

Every breed has a genetic predisposition to certain illnesses and issues. To determine if our dogs could pass these genetics to the next generation, we test every parents’ DNA using EmbarkTests to ensure our puppies get the best start in life even before they are born.

Our focus is largely on the temperament of all dogs in our program. We want all of the puppies we produce to be just as confident, smart, and adaptable as our adults. In order to foster growth, our litters are raised on the Puppy Culture program. Early neurological stimulation (ENS) is also completed once daily from 3 to 16 days old.

We adore our dogs. More than anything, we want our puppies to live long, happy and healthy lives with a family that will love and adore them as much as we do.
