Dr. West performed an emergency surgery on a dog that had what is called a Pyometra.

Pyometra’s can happen for Female Intact (not spayed) dogs that can develop rapidly and become life threatening if not surgically removed immediately upon diagnosis. Spaying your dogs is very important not only to their health, but to the safety of their life!

Happy HOWL-ween! Keep the spooky fun for the humans and the scary far away from your pets! Three essential tips to keep your pets safe this Halloween:

🍫 No candy for pets! Chocolate and xylitol (found in sugar-free treats) are highly toxic to pets. Keep all goodies out of reach - and watch those sneaky paws!
👻 Costume caution! Not all pets love dressing up. If they do, make sure costumes fit comfortably without restricting movement or breathing. Safety over style!
🏡 Stress-free zone! Trick-or-treaters and doorbells can overwhelm pets. Set up a cozy, quiet space where they can relax, and make sure they don’t dash out the door.
