Gregory's Gift of Hope

Gregory's Gift of Hope “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” Croix County, WI.

Gregory’s Gift of Hope is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing a safe, comfortable shelter for abandoned, homeless and unwanted animals in and around St. We will strive to assist the community in the prevention of animal suffering and abuse through rescuing and re-homing of animals. From our Director: Gregory’s was named after one of my very own rescues who meant the world to me a

nd my daughter. Gregory came to live with us from New York City where he was slotted to be euthanized. He was flown here and joined our family in January of 2000. He, without warning passed away at home with us on June 8, 2005. Because of his unique situation and his ability to overcome all of the obstacles and the cruel treatment he had prior to coming to live with us, we felt he should be our mascot in our crusade to help others who may be in similar situations. Our public walk-in hours for CATS are:

Sundays 5-8pm
Wednesdays 9am-12noon & 5-8pm
Saturdays 9am-12noon

To schedule a private appointment for cats during non walk-in hours, please visit: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050949afaf2ba7f85-ggoh #/

DOGS are shown by appointment only after an approved application. Please visit our website to learn more about our adoption process for dogs. https://www.ggohinc.com/adoption-process-dogs-1

Busy Busy Weekend And Beginning Of The Week…

Lots happening here at the facility, as usual we are running around just trying to keep up.

Let’s WELCOME JENNY❤️

This sweet gal was just trying to survive out in the elements when a good Samaritan tried helping her. Realizing she was in need of some extra care she reached out for advice and we responded with “ bring her in for some supportive care”.

Jenny is very malnourished with a body scale of about 2/9. Extremely dehydrated, she also needed refeeding assistance as she is hungry but not able to eat much and needs small amounts often. Even with Jenny’s unknown background she is still a very very sweet cat (approx. 11-12 months)loves petting and sitting with you. She has a long 😻road to recovery ahead of her but she has started and is doing well so far.

****** IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR PET OWNERS ******

Update 2/6/2025 - we are no longer able to reach SAVE THIS LIFE microchip company - they appear to be shut down - if your pet is registered with them, please be sure to register to another microchip company! There are a few free registries and others that require a small fee! We recommend any of the larger chip companies, those that participate in the AAHA registry. This is imperative to getting your pet home if they go missing!

____________________________________________________

If your pet's microchip is registered with Save This Life (commonly starting with 991001 or 900164), we strongly recommend registering it with another microchip company.

As of mid-January 2025, accessing owner information or notifying families of found pets linked to Save This Life has become increasingly difficult. We hope this issue is resolved soon, but in the meantime, ensuring your pet’s microchip is linked to a reliable and responsive registry is crucial for reuniting with them quickly if they ever go missing.

To check where your pet's microchip is registered, visit AAHA’s Universal Microchip Lookup Tool at this link: https://www.aaha.org/for-veterinary-professionals/microchip-search/

Please take a moment to review your pet's registration!

STEEL UPDATE… We are thrilled to share that Steel, the brave boy who was found injured on the side of a road in early January with a devastating compound fracture in his rear leg, is on the path to a full recovery. Steel’s journey has been marked by numerous challenges, but he has consistently demonstrated his capacity to persevere and overcome adversity. Steel underwent surgery to repair his initial fracture, and a second unexpected fracture was also treated. While he faced a significant setback this past Monday, requiring critical care at Doc’s due to a severe infection, Steel is now receiving supportive care at Gregory’s after being stabilized at Shamrock Animal Hospital. Throughout this trying month, Steel has proven himself to be an exemplary model of resilience and determination, and we are deeply grateful for your unwavering support and encouragement 🐈‍⬛❤️🐾

🙏🏻’S Appreciated🙂😻

Posted from Feral Cat Alliance

“(These ferals) are not my problem and I shouldn’t have to fix them!”

How many times have we seen this comment from someone complaining about feral cats in their yard?

Raise your hands!! 👋👋

I want to ask these people one question...

“What makes you think WE have to fix them??”

I’ll be crystal clear here.

I NEVER wanted more than two indoor cats.

If you had told me six years ago that I’d be caring for FOURTEEN cats, I would have told you, “no way!”

Then this little Casanova brought his pregnant girlfriend to my yard.

And I honestly didn’t want to “deal with it”.

I had just lost my father. Everything in our house and my life was falling apart. My Penny’s diabetes was unregulated and my Weeny was dying of mast cell cancer.

I am JUST as “busy” as the next person.

But you know what?

SOMEBODY has to care.

These unfixed and unwanted cats and kittens are NO more MY fault than they are YOURS.

I’M not the one who failed to spay or neuter my cat. I have ALWAYS spayed and neutered every pet I’ve ever had as soon as they were old enough.

But someone needs to care.

“Those feral cats” didn’t ask to be turned out when their irresponsible owners moved away and left them behind.

“Those feral cats” didn’t ask to be born under a barn in the wild.

But somebody has to care enough to be a part of the SOLUTION.

So I stepped up.

And I promise you this, if I hadn’t stepped up to help them and break the endless cycle of unwanted kittens, the 14 cats I care for would have been HUNDREDS of cats by now.

If you can’t be a part of the solution, please stop complaining about the problem.

And stop laying blame on these cats and the people who spend THEIR TIME and THEIR MONEY to control the feral population and start placing the blame where it BELONGS...

With the irresponsible pet owners who don’t spay and neuter their pets and then dump the unwanted kittens back in the woods or in a known feral cat colony...

With the backyard breeders...

With the people who take a kitten because it’s cute, fail to fix it, and then “get rid of it” when the novelty wears off or when the cat goes in heat or urine marks...

With those who fail to fix their cats and then move away without their cat, leaving their cat to breed endlessly and fend for herself.

THESE are the people you need to harrass. NOT those who work endlessly and selflessly to fix the problem that SOMEBODY ELSE created.

Enough 🤚

Called Upon For Advice & Some Help And Gregory’s Steps Up…

WELCOME MOO❤️

This poor boy is in rough shape, a 2 out of 9 body score. What started out as a TNR kitty ended up a boy with some pretty serious needs. What these poor kitties go through in their short lives is heartbreaking. Trying to rough it in this to often cruel society when it comes to strays. Moo has “Pillow Foot-PCP” and is only about 1 yrs old. Out in the elements, can you imagine the bottom of your feet like this and trying to walk? 😥💔🙁

Let’s get this boy feeling better as fast as we can. We will be monitoring closely and providing pain management.

We gotcha Moo, we are happy to help😻

IT’S LATE BUT I FEEL LIKE THIS NEEDS TO BE A $5.00 DOLLAR FRIDAY CASE. LET’S RAISE SOME DOLLARS FOR THIS BOYS CONTINUED CARE AS WELL AS SEND HIM A FEW 🙏🏻’s

We have had some wonderful adoptions occur and we could not be happier but sometimes along with our wins we are thrown a few losses.

💔”LOVE DEPARTED”💔

A little bit ago we lost our sweet gal, Mary Ann. Mary Ann battled FELV for almost 7 yrs ( she has passed just 2 months short of her 7th birthday). She was a cat whoìse life was on her terms. When she said - you could pet her but mostly she commanded just that “ you can look at me and chat with me but just keep your distance” attitude. She LOVED her brother, Gilligan, and you most often saw Gilligan wherever you found Mary Ann. She fought her battle well living much of her time with slight symptoms but did have a few times where we wondered how she kept going. With lots of medical care and love Mary Ann recovered from each of her set backs until this last one. I like to believe she knew how much she was loved from afar, how much she would be missed and that she knew we would understand that this one was her time to let go, she was tired. We know you hung in there as long as you could and we are so glad we had the time that we did. We wished you could have had a home and family in your life but we hope you knew you were a big part of the Gregory’s family and that you felt “at home”.

Resting easy now, you are missed , you were loved✝️🙏🏻

Amery Has Left The Building…

❤️”LOVE ADOPTED”❤️

This little sweet gal was just hanging out looking for someone to help her when the weather started to turn. A Good Samaritan saw her needs and contacted Gregory’s. We of course said yes and so Amery has been warm, safe and received the veterinary care she needed while she awaited the purfect human match. Along came Becca and her new little family was complete. Thank’s Becca for giving Amery a place to call home.
