With Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s announcement Tuesday that the current public health orders will remain in place through April 30th, May 1st will be the earliest date that horses and horsemen will arrive at Ruidoso Downs Race Track.

The Texas Racing Commission has granted Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie 70 live race dates for 2020, including a 26-date Quarter Horse meet in the fall. Lone Star Park's Quarter Horse meet, dubbed its "Fall Meeting of Champions," will run September 11-November 28. The 26 days of live racing marks an increase from 16 in 2019.

Lone Star Park's Quarter Horse meet will feature several of the sport's major stakes, including the Grade 1, 440-yard Refrigerator Stakes for older horses, the Grade 1, 400-yard Texas Classic Futurity for 2-year-olds, and the Grade 1, 440-yard Texas Classic Derby for 3-year-olds.
