She did it again! The talented Ivy Lane Portraits created this amazing portrait to memorialize Blue, the beloved mutt at my family's farm. Blue was one of a kind, loved by so many employees & visitors, and her habit of laying in the most inconvenient places was forgiven because of her amazingly good behavior. Jess captured her perfectly! I don't believe she's currently taking new commissions, but keep an eye on her social media pages to get on her list when/if she opens it up again!

Woohoo! Callahan turned 2 at the end of January, and last week he officially received his CHIC number, meaning he has completed all suggested health testing for a Golden Retriever. His hips came back Good and elbows Normal for his final OFA's. He's matured so nicely, has a lovely medium build and dark coat, is intelligent and obedient (unless there's a female in heat around, and then he's apt to lose all sense!) I'm really crossing my fingers for some Cal x Honey puppies in a few months!

It's so funny to watch the dogs and their habits. They know they have to wait quietly and make eye contact collectively before they can go play outside, but they all have their spots and will not settle if someone is standing somewhere different. 100% of the time Honey then Bea then Jules stands in front, Hattie slightly behind, followed by Millie off to the left a bit, then Maisie hanging at the back.

I'm working on breeding plans for 2024 - my current plan is to breed Juliet at her next heat cycle (hopefully resulting in puppies going home around March) and Bea for her final litter in the summer. I could potentially breed Honey in the fall if my time allows and there was interest. If you're interested in a puppy from Jules or Bea, please let me know!

I got this sweet update on Dolly from Litter L - what a fun event!

"Dolly is almost done with her training and we hope to do the CGC in the spring. She is really maturing now from her rambunctious puppy self to an outgoing yet polite lady!! We are big Cleveland Browns fans and today we took her to a Halloween party at Cleveland Browns stadium and got to go on the field. The workers said she was the best behaved dog there! She smiled big for so many photos. I can really see all of her family members in her. We just love her!!!"

Walks with Winnie! Good manners & leash skills are one of the first things we work on when training a puppy, but because we live on a busier road, I make her ride in the bottom of the stroller until we reach the corner just to keep her safe!

More about our visit to Columbus and happy endings...

When I got a message from Flora's new owners saying they wouldn't be able to keep her because of extenuating circumstances, we immediately made arrangements to get her back to us. All parties were very sad that it didn't work out how we'd wanted, but I had hope that a new family I had in mind would be perfect. A family that had a puppy from a previous litter had reached out with an update shortly before and jokingly said, "I'm sure nothing will happen, but if it does, Flora has really caught our eye!" On Tuesday, we met up with them to introduce Flora (new name pending) to her new family who came all the way from Massachusetts! Phoebe and the puppy seemed to hit it off immediately, and we all had a blast because we were able to get 3 littermates together for a playdate! Phoebe, Biscuit & Honey had fun playing and we sort of managed to take a chaotic photo of the 4 of them 😂 I'm grateful that this sweet puppy has such an amazing life ahead of her!

We had a super fun morning in Columbus but this is the only photo I snapped! More to come later...

I got these pictures of Phoebe on her second birthday last week. She's an Eli x Bea puppy from Litter K. Isn't she gorgeous?!? I loved getting this update from her owner:

"She passed her AKC STAR Puppy training at 5 months, and she spends a half day every week doing on-going training and socialization at the same program. I plan to work with her on some advanced training soon. She does very well following commands given that she's a very exuberant little girl. We have lots of critters around our property, deer, rabbits, squirrels. She loves the chase but recently is much better at listening when we call her off. She is also mesmerized by birds - she'll sit in the yard watching the birds come and go from the feeders. There's probably some bird-dog in her genes. When we were at the cape over Labor Day, we took her into town with lots of tourists and sidewalk traffic. She did so well and we never felt so popular. A little girl came up to pet her, and she raised her paw to the girl's hand - just like that pic of Eli on his birthday. She is the love of our lives."

Last week (when more puppies were still here) we brought out the bubble machine for my daughter to play with and thought we'd see what the puppies thought of it. Clover (Sadie!) was especially curious!

The puppies got split up into two groups to take a short walk in the woods behind our house! They mostly stuck close to Bea, but it was a great exposure for them - so many new sights, sounds & smells!

When I saw this toddler slide at a garage sale, I knew I wanted to get it for the puppies. Turns out they're not quite big enough to make it up the steps without some adjustments, but with a little help, Ford really enjoyed the slide!

Luna did great figuring out the wobble board! She's crossed it before but just on grass, so the concrete was a little louder and less steady.

The puppies #1 fan got to play with them outside for the first time this week! They also got to meet another adult dog for the first time. Lots of positive experiences!

The puppies enjoyed the beautiful weather on this LAST EVENING before the first puppy goes home!

We've had a stretch of nice weather & the puppies have loved all the playtime outside!

Even as a young puppy, Jules was super sweet & patient with our daughters hugs & attention. She still has that same personality and doesn't mind at all that our daughter's newest interest is 'walking' the dogs from her stroller! They make a cute pair.

We have found Cal's true passion in life - WATER! He was an absolute maniac playing in the river, much more animated than his normal self. We might have to explore dock diving with him!

We took advantage of a break in the rain to get in some playtime!

The temperament test results are in! We've got 7 laid-back, loving puppies. Bea & Eli have produced the most consistent litters I've ever had! Of course there's a little bit of variance in personalities, but across the board, they're so much alike!

Right now the puppies are completing the Volhard Temperament test, but here's a video from playtime a few days ago!

We filled up the stock tank for the dogs to swim in and you'll notice Bash can't be found within 20 feet 😂

There's a reason these two are best friends

Jules is finally big enough to go out for free play time with the big girls!

The girls are LOVING this puppy play gym! So many fun things for them to explore - different sounds, textures and movements. I love watching them play with it!
