Everyone make it ok? We haven’t had a real snow in at least a couple of years now.
We’re out and about today but are running slow due to the differences in road conditions in our service area.

This coming week outdoor time will be EXTREMELY limited. This is for your pets safety as well as ours.
Stay safe and clear the snow as quick as you can tomorrow.

Effectiveness of Rock Salt with colder temperatures…

26°F significantly compromised. Effectiveness reduced by 1/2 of its normal ability to melt at 32°F.

21°F hardly any effect. Effectiveness reduced by 6 times of normal.

18°F stops working. Effectiveness reduced by 8 times of normal.

10°F, 10 times less effective

5°F, 11 times less effective

0°F, 13 times less effective

Come Monday and beyond, we will have a period of “frozen Arctic tundra” like conditions. Be prepared for days with frigid temperatures and teacherous travel as a result of the Nor’easter that dumps a significant accumulation of snowpack into our region and salt’s inability to effectively melt the roads in these conditions.

It is recommended any concerns with snow by clearing it and removing it be done promptly before it freezes to all surfaces during Monday and stays there for days.

With the frigid temperatures, snowpack will not melt and salt will become ineffective. Icy/Slippery travel for days.

Frozen pipes and damage to the power grid are all significant possibilities for the upcoming week.

Hypothermia and severe frostbite should be a major consideration before deciding to venture outside.

We are looking at low temperatures either side of 0°F and highs struggling to reach the teens. Windchills through Friday morning will range anywhere from -20°F to 10°F, no warmer.
