In this video, the #farmpractice Farmer Ashley is using is called ‘trellising’.
Trellising is used to help support climbing plants. After trellising is done the growing cucumber plants will be able to vine around the trellising string and bamboo sticks allowing for easy access to the cucumber when it's time for harvest!

This is Brooklyn Grange’s Farmer Tori and Nicotra Grown Organic Rooftop Farm’s Farmer Ashley putting a tarp over our harvested arugula beds to get ready for the next succession of arugula.
We tarp our beds to attract heat to the soil in order to dispose of weeds and what is left of the harvested arugula succession. This process gets the soil ready for the next succession of arugula we will plant. The bags that are being placed on top of the tarp are stone bags to make sure the tarp doesn’t blow away due to the windy conditions on the Roof!

This is Farmer Tori watering our cabbage plants. Plants need water for many reasons, but the main reason is to hydrate the vessel that carries nutrients throughout the plant. When a plant absorbs water through their roots, it also absorbs the nutrients in the soil that are vital for plant growth. Water is a vital component for photosynthesis, which is how plants use energy from the sun to create their own food. Plants use carbon dioxide from the air and hydrogen from the water absorbed through their roots and release oxygen as a byproduct! Drink that H2O!!
