The Animal Project NYC A non-profit rescue organization based on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. We rescue cats and kittens from the New York City area.

We are normally able to ignore things like this. But when falsehoods are spread about the work we do, sometimes we have to share our side of the story.

We feel sad for the kittens adopted as singles.

We feel sad for the two kittens going to ACC.

We feel angry that she would slander our reputation over a policy designed to promote the best possible life for a bonded pair.

TODAYS ADOPTION EVENT IS CANCELLED!

Due to an unforeseen paperwork issue, today’s adoption event has been cancelled! All is well and we plan to be back at Petco next Saturday! Although we are sad to miss Petco, we are happy that our rescue kitties get to enjoy their snowy Saturday snuggled up and stress-free ❤️

It’s Carol’s birthday! She’s been the director of the Animal Project for over 20yrs 🤯

Absolutely stunning pair of kittens, Cinna & Rue, are available for adoption! Cinna is the black cat boy and Rue is the calico cat girl. They are around 6 months old.

Peter is a wonderful cat ready to find his forever family.

He survived being abandoned on the streets of the UWS until a Good Samaritan stepped in and saved his life. We are so grateful, because he is amazing 🧡

It’s a chilly November Saturday, and we will be inside the Petco on 92/Bway from 2-6p for our weekly adoption event!

We have so many amazing debuts today that we couldn’t pick a cover model! So we made 3 😂

Gorgeous Mama Millie and Baby Vanilli will be attending their first event! This mother daughter pair is absolute PERFECTION- Come meet them in person and see for yourself 😉

Lilah/Leo and The Explorer Girls are amazing kittens all making their debut today. Their cuteness intensifies in person!

We have two handsome young orange boys, one year old Miso who wants to be an only cat, and 3 yr old Peter who can go alone or with a buddy!

Single lady Marisa will be there, along with younger single lady Juno! Marisa wants to be an only cat, Juno would love a friend though she can also be a single!

Kitten siblings Nessa and Fiyero will be there… they are so adorable and ready to find their home just like their sister Elphie did!

Mother/daughter Divina and Storm will be there, along with Storm’s bonded pair sisters, Bella and Daisy Lou!

And long time shy babies Chai and Charlene are in attendance- check out their new pictures 🥰 🥹

Look at these adorable explorer sisters!

Lewis, Clark, Nellie, and Gertrude are so special and ready for adoption. They are healthy and happy kittens that will bring so much joy to your life!

These angels were rescued from the danger of being sold on the street! They were in a bucket with a price tag on their head 😱 Luckily got involved, rescued them, and is now their foster home 👏 These babies are confident, adorable, and excited for their futures 💕

Liza, Lydia, and Laurel came in for their FVRCP booster vaccines today!

Every cat adopted through Animal Project receives FVRCP vaccines, Snap Test (FiV/FeLV status), deworming, and flea treatment. We monitor weights, check for heart murmurs, skin issues, or lung issues, and trim nails 😉 They get rabies vaccines when fixed- and we will do adoptions of unfixed kittens! However it’s written in our contract that it MUST happen when they are of age- and we always follow through!

Liza and Lydia have a great application in… fingers crossed that it goes well 🤞 If that happens we hope to pair Laurel up with a new kitten friend… so… stay tuned!

It’s a cold winter Saturday and we will be at our weekly adoption event at the Petco on 92/Bway! We will be there from 2-6p with many amazing kitties.

Making his debut today is sweet gray Skipper, a 2 yr old friendly boy found wandering Hamilton Heights!

Bella & Daisy Lou had an adoption all set up to happen tomorrow, but as of last night it has fallen through with no rhyme or reason… and we find ourselves ghosted 😔 it’s always sad when this happens, but onward we go to find them the best home ever! They are an amazing pair 💖

Single ladies Clarice, Marisa, and Marilyn will be back in action! Clarice hates Petco- so if she growls at you, that’s just her way of saying hello 😅 she’s the friendliest lap cat… we promise! Marisa is also a sweet lap cat, and you know what… so is Marilyn!! These ladies are ready to find their Forevers!

Chai and Charlene have been waiting a really long time- this shy duo needs a patient and quiet home. Come talk to their foster all about them!

And we will have two amazing kitten pairs today! And by amazing we mean AMAZING. Fiyero/Nessa are so adorable and Marcos/Kahlua are so loving!!! These are two special pairs and we hope for the best for them 🤞

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today we are grateful for the support of our amazing community: fosters, adopters, fellow rescuers, our amazing volunteers, and our tiny but mighty online family! Because of this support, we are able to continue our mission of making a difference to the cats in need- one life at a time!

We had a great month and have placed some amazing cats and kittens in amazing forever homes.

Welcome to some of our newest and smallest rescues, the Glass Family!

Mama Pitcher and her 4 kittens, Demitasse, Snifter, Goblet, and Tumbler were rescued from Thayer street in the heights. They were living in horrible, unsafe, and unstable conditions. Our director trapped the mom and brought her and the kittens to safety! Mom is potentially feral… though over the past few days we are wondering if she may have potential! She is just a kitten herself 😭 😭 They are off to an amazing foster home where we hope Mama learns the beauty of indoor life and the kittens grow happy and healthy! 🤞

It’s Saturday! We’ll be at the Petco on 92/Bway from 2-6p with a lot of amazing kitties.

Making her Petco debut is Kimmy, the sweet black panther abandoned in a carrier! She’s absolutely wonderful and so ready for a great forever home.

Amazing family pairs Divina/Storm and Bella/Daisy Lou will be attending their second event after spending their first week in foster care. They are adjusting well and we are so proud of them!

8yr old Clarice will also be back in action! She doesn’t love these Petco events and only shows her grumpy side, but we promise she’s the most amazing cat ever!!

And taking the title from Chitter (of longest time in foster care without an application!) are siblings Chai and Charlene. They have been waiting since May and while they have attended numerous events, they have had ZERO applications! They are very shy and need a special home- but they love Churu and we know the right family will find them. Shy cats need love too 💕
