The Animal Project is saying goodbye to two of our dedicated volunteers as they depart to form their own 501c3 cat rescue 💜

Kelly & Cathy have been a huge part of our success as a rescue. Their commitment and dedication has played a tremendous role in our ability to rescue and place so many cats and kittens into amazing homes. We will miss them, but we are proud of the path they are carving as they set forth to form Big Apple Cats.

Joe is a rare cat- a young male with mammary cancer 😔

For now he is healthy and happy- his tumor has been removed and you would never know he had one! But the cancer will come back, we just don’t know when.

He is a gentle soul with a spirit that shines bright despite facing the challenges of being abandoned after an eviction, ending up in the city shelter, and then being diagnosed with this rare cancer. We are searching for a compassionate long term hospice foster or adopter, where Joe can feel safe, loved, and cherished during this precious time in his life.

All of his medical expenses and food will be taken care of. Please consider opening your home and heart to Joe, he needs placement by mid March or sooner 💕

Bonded pair Cosmo and Wanda are ready for adoption!

They were rescued from the first hoarding situation! It’s so funny because a LOT of the cats in that house look just like Cosmo (white and black w black nose!) and not ONE even remotely resembles Wanda. Not an orange or calico or tortoiseshell to be found! Very strange 🤔 😂

Lots of kitties making their debut (Sheba, Orry, & Mystic), a few of our regulars (Rover, Daddy, Princess, Loyal, Lennon/McCartney), some adorable kitten pairs (Oyster/Truffle & Abigail/Archie), and our shy bonded pair, Chai & Charlene, that have been waiting over 9 months!

The Mushroom kittens have entered the chat!

These babies along with 6 others were rescued from yet *another* hoarding situation last week. This time there was also a looming eviction, access to the outdoors, and a few other obstacles 😫 But we couldn’t leave them to fend for themselves and so a plan came together!

These adorable 9 week old tabby kittens will be making their adoption event debut at Petco tomorrow!

It’s Saturday! Time for our weekly adoption event 😉

Come visit us at the Petco on 92/Bway from 2-6p. Today you can meet two kittens rescued from the Bronx hoarding case (Cosmo & Wanda) and also see some gorgeous polydactyl kitties! Wow- what a year!!! In 2024 we rescued close to 200 cats. We did 153 adoptions. We conquered FiP, learned the wonder of @halfwaycats, faced some devastating vet visits (RIP Gertrude and Danny G), spayed/neutered over 240 cats, and successfully navigated a situation where someone tried to tear us down. We pulled cats from ACC, we saved Phoenix from death’s door, and we helped many rescuers in the community at our Sunday clinic. We held adoption events EVERY SATURDAY (except 1 😂) and we did it all with a smile thanks to our amazing volunteers, foster families, and supporters 💕 ❤️ This video features 56 out of the over 150 cats we found homes for in 2024. We are so honored to have been a part of each one of their journeys 💕 Happy New Year to all the cat lovers out there! Let’s do it all again in 2025!

We have started a GofundMe to raise money for Little Miss, a 9 week old kitten rescued from the middle of the street at 68th & Columbus. Please help us pay this bill! She is a wonderful kitten with a long life ahead of her. You can read her full story here: https://gofund.me/bc2e2a4e

Miko is almost at the halfway point! When he first started this journey in March, he was just under 7.5lbs. For context, he was 11lbs at the beginning of January! Picking him up felt like picking up a frail, weak and sickly cat. The phrase ‘bag of bones’ comes to mind. For his Day 38 injection, picking him up felt…. Normal! He is still skinny, but feels hefty! We could not believe when the scale showed 9lbs 2oz! His skin sores from the shots are healing, and his ear ringworm is…… there 😂 😂 Normal adult cats have healthy immune systems that can keep ringworm at bay, but Miko’s immune system is a little busy right now! He has to wear a cone while the lime sulfur treatment dries, and he is not too happy about that… poor guy has to deal with so much!Since he is making such good progress, we will continue two treatments a day, but will begin to phase in pills. We are hopeful that he will take well to this change, so that we can fully switch over and he doesn’t have to take painful shots anymore! For now he will take 3 pills in the morning, and one shot at night!Please wish him good luck! #mikosfipjourney #fip #fipwarrior #fipfighter #curefip
