It’s Saturday! Time for another weekly adoption event at the Petco on 92/bway! We will be there from 2-6p and the rain has left the forecast!! So hopefully we will be nice and dry! Today a lot of rescues are making their Petco debut, like Nathan/Sauerkraut, Nemo, Moze, Aryna, Binx/Dani, and Grey/Squeaks! We will also have some veterans! Like Chitter, Charlene/Chai, and Cezara!

What a week! On top of bringing in Opie and coordinating his arrival, we have been busy making the time for many new additions to our rescue!
Moze is a handsome young tabby adult from the streets of Queens!! He is friendly, confident, and healthy!!
Mazzan is an owner surrender due to a sudden and necessary move. He’s only a year and a half and is the cutest little guy. His person cried when he dropped him off with us- we understand the pain and promised that Mazzan would find a great forever home!
Sapphire is a young (1yr?), black, female kitty. She was picked up from the streets of Washington Heights. She is such a cutie and a purr machine, with amazing wide curious eyes. She had a tiny wound on her lips which gives her a cute little smile. She is so wonderful and we are so happy we rescued this little sweetie!
Kiki is a 4 month old calico kitten. She was brought in from the Bronx, where a kind hearted person had been feeding her for the past two months!! We are so glad that she kept Kiki safe all this time and even more glad that we found a foster home and were able to bring her into the rescue!
The two unnamed brother kittens were formerly known as Dani & Binx, but we have had about 4 cats named Binx this year so we will need to rename 😂 they are a little over 4 months old. These two amazing kittens are also owner surrenders due to serious child allergy in the home. We are happy to accept them into our care and place them into an environment where they will thrive! Names coming soon!!

Beautiful 5 month old siblings, Grey (m) and Squeaks (f) are ready for their forever home! They are amazing little kittens! Squeaks is confident, affectionate, and outgoing! Grey is a little more on the cautious side, but once he feels comfortable, he becomes very social and fun!
These two were rescued from a backyard in Harlem and have known the love and care of humans since they were very young! They are healthy, fixed, and great for any household!

She has had quite a journey in her short but sweet time in our rescue! Mama came in on August 18th with her 3 adorable kittens. The whole family was super cute but very strange looking…. Just scraggly, skinny and dirty. They seemed more alien than cat! A few days after rescue, Mama got extremely sick… She stopped eating, hid under the bed, was excessively drooling and had major diarrhea (swipe to last pic to see her in her sickness era 😢).
We took her to where she received amazing care and within a few days, she was on the road to recovery from a mystery infection!! Now, after a week of being back to normal with a ravenous appetite, she has found her forever home!! Her new family didn’t even mind that when they went to meet her, she hid in a cat tunnel the whole time (peering at them curiously 😆)
Congrats Mama!! Her kittens Gold and Silver will be at our upcoming adoption events, come and meet them! (Bronze may have her own adoption coming soon 😉)

Formerly known as Cheddar, he was rescued by us as a kitten in August of 2020, with his very sick sister Biscuit! (Swipe to see their early days!) we nursed them both back to health and they found an amazing adopter- together!! You can see their adorable pics of growing up at their personal page,
Now, four years later, Eragon has suffered a medical emergency and urinary blockage. His loving mom was caught off guard with the medical bills needed to save his life. Urinary blockages are rare but fatal, and almost always strike male indoor cats! A wet food and well hydrated diet is extremely important, but even with this diet, FLUTD can still strike in times of stress, or, just out of the blue!
Please let this be a reminder- if you have been thinking of getting pet insurance- do it now!! Don’t wait another day! Emergencies can strike at any time, and no one wants to be faced with the choice of being able to save your little one’s life, but not being able to afford it!

Journee found her forever home at this year!
We were so proud to be there with our rescue partner Francis’s Friends and are beyond thrilled that our attendance resulted in this amazing adoption.
Journee is a super friendly cat found wandering around the Bronx. Luckily, she found herself in a colony managed by one of our amazing volunteers who knew that she was very out of place there. Thanks to amazing foster we were able to bring Journee in right away. Turns out she was microchipped to FLORIDA! How did she get to the Bronx 😞 the microchip contact info was a dead end and so Journee found herself up for adoption.
Now this sweet and talkative girl has found herself the loving home she deserves! She even has her own Instagram! .the.cat

This Sunday, August 11th we are holding a big adoption event in Washington Heights!! Spread the word and mark it on your calendar! We invite everyone to come say hello, past adopters or fosters, people interested in adopting a kitty of their own, or people looking to learn more about fostering! We love this event and will be doing our best to show all of our adoptable kitties (we currently have over 45 cats in our rescue 🤯)
We will be highlighting many of our cats and kittens this week that you can come to meet at the event.
We don’t do any same day adoptions, but you can get pre approved by going through the process before Sunday! This way you can show up, see who you bond with, and take them home! Get started by filling out the adoption application in our bio 😉

We are so happy for Pastry and Doughboy who both got adopted this past weekend! 👏 👏
Their story is so funny because when they were rescued we basically considered them ‘husband and wife’. (How very human of us 😂) They were parents of the southern pie kittens and often were found together outside in the area they lived.
However, once in foster care together, Pastry made it pretty clear she didn’t want anything to do with her baby daddy!! He would always try to play and snuggle with her and she was very annoyed! 😂 😂 And so they quickly ‘divorced’ (lived in separate rooms) and now have found their happily ever afters in two truly amazing forever homes!
We are just beyond excited for these two sweet cats ❤️ 💕

These fabulous siblings are ready to find their forever home together!! Miko is as healthy and happy as ever and is now 13lbs 😂 He is still in observation, but should any relapse happen Animal Project will always be there for Miko and his future family!
Misha is a heavy set girl herself but her fluffiness kind of hides her chunkiness 😂 😉 Misha reminds us of anime cats- her quirky personality and roundness make for constant entertainment!! Also, it looks like she is wearing tube socks!!! 🧦 🍊

They were found in the same area that W***y was found (in fact, the trap set for their elusive mama is the one that W***y walked into!) These kittens are almost 7 weeks old and will be ready for adoption in a couple weeks! They are the tiniest bit shy and hissy but that will grow out of that very quickly!
Must go in pairs, or to a home with another young kitten. Or of course as an adorable triplet!! 😉

Newest rescue, Tomato 🍅
This sweet cat was abandoned in a carrier at a Petco. This is the picture the manager sent us. We are so lucky that amazing foster was available and so Tomato is now safe in foster care! We are learning more about this orange tomato and will be vetting her (him? Not sure yet!) soon! Why Tomato was abandoned, we will never know. But that doesn’t matter- because her second life starts NOW 💕

This cat would have ended up at the very full city shelter if we were unable to find a foster home. The shelter works as hard as they can, but cats that go there often end up sick, scared, stressed and with an unknown future. We are so happy to have had a foster home become available.

Little Miss!!! The update we have been waiting to post ❤️ Back in July we ran a GoFundMe for Little Miss, a kitten rescued from 68th and Columbus. She was found scared, alone, and with injuries that our vet said could only occur with some sort of physical abuse. With the money raised, we were able to quickly get her the surgery she needed, and now, after way too long on crate rest, Little Miss is healed and ready for adoption! She has been paired with an adorable kitten sister named Muffett, and the two of them have become fast friends! We will post a picture of them together! They are ready to find their forever home and make a family very happy ❤️ Little Miss’s story would not be possible without the kindness of a stranger who saw her struggling on the street. Christine not only picked her up, but brought her inside and fostered her through her recovery. She continues to foster her today, and welcomed Muffett in as well ❤️ Her story would also not be possible without the donations we raised on GoFundMe. We are so blessed to have an amazing community that cares about our work, thank you for continuing to support us! Way to go, Little Miss!!!

Miko is almost at the halfway point! When he first started this journey in March, he was just under 7.5lbs. For context, he was 11lbs at the beginning of January! Picking him up felt like picking up a frail, weak and sickly cat. The phrase ‘bag of bones’ comes to mind. For his Day 38 injection, picking him up felt…. Normal! He is still skinny, but feels hefty! We could not believe when the scale showed 9lbs 2oz! His skin sores from the shots are healing, and his ear ringworm is…… there 😂 😂 Normal adult cats have healthy immune systems that can keep ringworm at bay, but Miko’s immune system is a little busy right now! He has to wear a cone while the lime sulfur treatment dries, and he is not too happy about that… poor guy has to deal with so much!Since he is making such good progress, we will continue two treatments a day, but will begin to phase in pills. We are hopeful that he will take well to this change, so that we can fully switch over and he doesn’t have to take painful shots anymore! The Bakery Kittens have finally found their forever...... as a TRIO!! 🥖 🍞 🥯 . These kittens have had more applications and dropped adoptions then we have ever experienced before- and through no fault of their own because they are absolutely perfect!! But the timing just never went right for them... so many times Babka and Macaroon were close to being adopted together, and challah had many, MANY applications to join other kitties.... and everything kept falling through 😢 VERY CONFUSING TIMES! . But all things happen for a reason, because today we experienced the most wonderful thing- a triple adoption! Babka, Challah, and Macaroon will get to spend their lives together as siblings and we are just so happy for them!! . Congratulations little ones!! Happy tails and happy biscuit making!!
