An adorable puppy has been left languishing at an Ohio animal shelter because she has 'too much energy'.

One-year-old Cora is described as a 'bundle of joy wrapped in a fluffy coat' by the Jefferson County Animal Shelter.

But the terrier mix is struggling to find her forever home due to her rambunctious personality, which has already seen her adopted and returned twice.

'She finds herself longing for a home where she can be all that she’s knows how to be, herself,' the shelter explained. 'Cora is a staff favorite because she is always ready to play, followed by cuddles.

'Sadly, her energetic enthusiasm is what keeps her at the shelter. She can’t understand what she is doing wrong because she is just being herself and isn’t that what they say, “just be yourself “.

'Well Cora is so bubbly and bouncy and just utterly full of fun and always has us laughing and smiling with her silly antics.'

'Returned to us through no fault of her own, Cora is now looking for a home that can match her spirited personality,' the shelter explained.

'She truly is a sweetheart, but just can’t seem to find the right home quite yet.'

Cora would do best in a cat-free home alongside children who are least 12-years-old the shelter said.

She can be picky about other dogs, so a meet-and-greet sniff test is recommended for any prospective owners with other pets.

Cora has been spayed, microchipped and heartworm tested negative. She is up to date on all core vaccinations and monthly preventions.

All strays can come from very difficult backgrounds. That means they need more love, care, and attention than others. It takes a special kind of person to shower them with that love. It is not an "adopt one day and return the next week" kind of commitment. It can take a lot of trial and error and weeks or even months for them to just open up to you. So when you adopt, make sure you're ready to put in the work. It is so worth it, and you will see the benefits of your commitment level shine in the eyes of that animal.

New York State and four other states have deemed that dogs are legal members of families. There are even some companies that give employees time off in case that your pet needs off in New York State? What if they need to go to the vet? There are insurance companies that will support you and offer insurance for your dog as well.

The dog IS part of the family, and if there is one thing that New York State does right, it is making sure that the dog is looked at as the legal part of the family.

According to the New York State law: “best interest of a companion animal must be considered when awarding possession in a divorce.” Companion animals may include dogs, cats, or any other domesticated animal living in or near the home and are cared for by the owners. An important caveat, however, is that this does not include any farm animals or livestock.

All adopted animals need to have a period of adjustment. Impatient people who can't wait three months shouldn't bother adopting a pet. Pets, just like children, need consideration, respect, and love - in spite of our own desires.

"New adoptive pet parents should follow the 3-3-3 rule, which explains how long it can take before a pet reaches certain milestones in a new home. It could be 3 days before a dog or cat begins to feel safe, while it takes around 3 weeks for them to get used to new routines. By the 3 month mark, you should begin to see more and more of your new adopted dog's personality."

Riona, a 1-year-old dog, is recovering from her injuries at Bluff City Veterinary Specialists on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, after she was strangled, doused in fuel and set on fire.

Nonprofit Tails of Hope Dog Rescue is raising money through a social media campaign to pay for her treatment.
The organization is raising funds for her care through T-shirt sales and donations on Facebook, as well as offering a reward of $5,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for her injuries.

They determined she was doused with gasoline beforehand and suffered from fourth degree burns on the left side of her face and body. They also found signs of her being restrained with a cord around her neck.

“The problem is, someone that did this, they’re dangerous,” “Being a rescue, they see abuse, they see neglect. This was torture.”

As of June 30, Memphis police have made no arrests in connection with the case. They need aide in catching her abuser. There are hopes, offering a reward will prompt someone to come forward and lead to the arrest of the perpetrator.
