Dr. Rachel Barrack is a licensed veterinarian who is certified in both veterinary acupuncture, Chinese herbology, and food therapy.

Dr. Barrack provides in-home treatment to animals in and around New York City. Whether she is treating house pets, like dogs and cats, or larger animals, like horses, her combined training in eastern and western medicine enables her to administer comprehensive and effective care. As an experienced veterinarian, Dr. Barrack diagnoses your pet and assesses the best treatment

plan. She administers acupuncture and Chinese herbology in your home, where your pet is most comfortable. Equine services:
Equine athletes and show horses often require a highly specialized level of medical care in order to reach peak performance. Drawing upon her extensive experience working with champion racehorses, Dr. Barrack diagnoses your animal and determines the best course of treatment. Her approach often combines eastern practices, like acupuncture and herbology, with western medical procedures, such as intra-articular injections. She is surgically trained and, if necessary, can perform minor procedures on site using local anesthetics.

It’s been a challenging and emotional few weeks so apologies for the lack of Pierce progress pics of late but we’re getting back on track.

Fierce Pierce has been battling severe pneumonia in and out of the ICU, on and off oxygen. Happy to report thanks to colleagues and he is back home on the road to recovery enjoying his favorite spot on the couch, getting tons of kisses, and gaining back lost weight and forgotten puppy manners (sorry ). Pierce is now 35 weeks, feisty, and feeling good at 119 lbs 🐾🖤

Last week, at 28 weeks old, Pierce joined the triple digit gang, clocking in at 103 lbs. The big boy celebrated with his friends at but wants everyone to know he is definitely a lover and not a fighter 🥊🐾❤️💛💚

At 26 weeks and 95 lbs, Pierce is definitely a teenager these days, refusing pictures and alternating between snuggly and fiesty moods. Like a typical teen, he loves to spend time with his friends, party when it’s time for bed, and sleep in 🐾❤️💛💚

Last week, at 25 weeks old, Pierce weighed in at 90 lbs! He’s quickly becoming a big boy but was a big baby when it came to sporting a raincoat and going for a walk in the rain 🌧️🐾❤️💛💚

In Chinese medicine, different times correlate to when blood and qi (energy) pass through different channels throughout the body. This cyclical flow is the TCVM circadian rhythm and acts as the body’s own internal clock. Last week Pierce turned 6 months old (aka 24 weeks) and weighed 84 lbs. He celebrated out east in the hamptons by getting lots of love from his favorite little people, shopping, and enjoying outdoor dining with mom 🐾❤️💛💚

Pierce is barking because someone forgot to post his progress shots last week 🤦🏻‍♀️ At 23 weeks old, Pierce weighed in at 81 lbs and is loving the from the comfort of his giant dog bed and the couch 🇺🇸🐾❤️💛💚

In honor of today, meet Dakota, a beloved 7 year old “Potcake Retriever” adopted from Turks & Caicos. Happy to report, she is on her way to making a full recovery with the help of Western and Chinese medicine following a stroke 💜🐾

Past week was a rough one for Pierce (and Dr. Barrack)— at 22 weeks and 78 lbs Pierce had a lot of explosive 💩 but with supportive care and some dietary changes hoping he’s now on the mend 🐾❤️💛💚
