Stitch and I have been through a really tough time.
It all started when he got an eye infection and worms. He was sleeping a lot and didn’t want to go outside. I took him to the vet, and she thought—just like I did—that the lethargy was due to the infection and worms. He started getting better after treatment, but he was still unusually tired.
Then things got worse. He stopped eating, drinking, and going to the bathroom. He began throwing up. And of course, it was a Friday—my vet doesn’t work on Friday nights or weekends. I called around to emergency vets, but they told me to go to Oslo, which is an hour and a half away. I don’t drive.
I texted my vet to update her. Even though she was attending an important family event, she kept texting me all day, asking questions ❤️
That evening, Stitch peed—and it was pink. I sent her a photo. She immediately called and asked more questions, and then diagnosed him with urinary stones. She told me I could stop by her house on Sunday to pick up wet food made for urinary issues, in case I wanted to try that instead of struggling to get to Oslo. I went.
All Sunday, I had to force-feed him—little by little. My vet kept calling and texting me throughout the day to check on him.
Sunday evening, he looked more alert. He lay on his back and stretched out the way he does when he’s relaxed. He even started purring again when I petted him. He hadn’t thrown up all day and had peed several times.
Monday morning, he was walking around and seemed much better. He still wouldn’t eat on his own, so I kept spoon-feeding him. After a few spoonfuls, one tiny bit fell—he lowered his head and ate it 😊 From that moment on, he began eating on his own.
A few hours later, he was running around the house like his usual self. He’s healthy again now. I’ve been to the vet to pick up more of the special wet and dry food. He’s eating and drinking well.
I’m incredibly happy—he’s going to celebrate his 4th birthday on May 29th ❤️ He’s enjoying life again, and I’m finally catching up on the sleep I lost while he was sick.
I absolutely love my vet. I already thought she was amazing, but now I admire her even more. She’s getting paid for the weekend work too—and she 100% deserves it ❤️
Here’s a photo of Stitch from Sunday night, when he first started showing signs of getting better 🥰
