Our small town Masterfeeds dealers are a place where locals connect and care for each other - and here is a heartwarming example of how.

Having been in this fellow’s shoes, we know this interaction at the local feed store made a very sad day just a little bit better. 🫶🏼💙

So very thankful for our community dealers and the feel great stories they provide us!

There is GREAT in this world. Elderly clearly upset gentleman came into the store today to buy horse treats for his horse that is going to be put down tomorrow. As he was telling us all about it, another regular customer overheard what was being said and purchased his bag of apple treats and then helped him to his car. What a great local supporting community we live in

Another day, another skid of Senior feed hitting the warehouse at one of our dealers!

You guys, WE DID IT! 🥰

After vying for a horse to be on our Christmas card for many years, our wish came true for 2024!
In classic equine community fashion, our followers did not disappoint with the MOST species submissions for our annual contest of all species/farm winterscapes.

The engagement, excitement, and love for horses is unmatched once again! 🐎

Thank you for all who submitted their gorgeous horse photos and congratulations to Shannon on her winning feature. Here is what she had to say about her shot:

"I took this photo one frosty afternoon at the 100-acre farm my husband and I own. It's of our horses Tucker (chestnut) and Brody (grey) who were waiting on hay. They are full brothers by 'A Fine Romance' and out of 'Miss Chance It' who was an Ontario Appaloosa Superhorse. Tucker has since passed and Brody is now 26." 🫶

Ingredients for a successful weight gain program:

Quality forage ✔️
Addition of a high fat concentrate ✔️
Consistent feed management ✔️
A whole lot of love ✔️

This guy has been on a weight gain journey for just over 7 weeks now after returning to his home farm, and we are so thrilled with his progress already! 🥰

The efficacy of a feed program/product typically becomes evident in 6-8 weeks, particularly when changes in body condition is the goal.

If you have a harder keeper through the winter months, adding calories to their diet in the fall will help prep them nutritionally for the colder temperatures! 🍂 🥶

It may seem disturbing to watch, but eating manure is an instinct that helps foals’ fibre-loving bacteria develop in the digestive tract, setting them up for a healthy GI future.

Pay special attention to the indigestible marker used for the research - digestibility of nutrients matters! 🤓🐎

A University of Kentucky study of coprophagy and the gut microbiome of foals found the disturbing behaviour is actually quite natural.
