hey friends!
a moment to talk. like just about every small business in the US right now, the new tariffs implemented this week are going to have a real effect on our business. for companies like ours, navigating the already delicate balance of trying to keep our doors open and our bills paid, these tariffs mean that our prices are bound to increase.
while we produce the bulk of our own Dog & Co. collection here in the US, we also import other brands and products directly from our friends in South Korea, India, Europe, and Canada. this means that we, as the importer, directly pay the tariffs and duties when the product arrives here in the US. we generally do this through the shippers (UPS, DHL, etc - who add additional processing fees) when they deliver the goods to our stores.
many of the other brands that we carry in our shops have already imported their goods when we order them, and we have already started to receive notice that their prices will be increasing as well. we know that these tariffs will affect all of us and how we prioritize our spending.
we also know that you come to us to find great pet products - not to hear about our struggles as a small business - so we apologize if this is more than you would like to know.
but it just feels so strange to look at our feed right now and see a normal stream of posts, as times are anything but normal! so before we continue, into whatever this new *normal* will be, we wanted to acknowledge these changes that are happening, and explain their inevitable impact on our business.
as a small business and a team, we are SO proud that our shops are places to share moments of happiness with your pets. this is what we truly love to do! it keeps us going, and no matter what - spreading joy through the love for our pets is, and always will be, our mission.
