Last week we said goodbye to our incredible practice manager, Sparkle, here at the Veterinary Eye Center of NYC 💙

Sparkle has been the heart of our team — always kind, supportive, and ready to help anyone who needs it. While it’s hard to see her go, we’re so excited for her next chapter as she takes on the role of practice manager at our new Connecticut location!

We know she’ll bring the same warmth and leadership to her new team that she’s shared with us every day. We miss you already! 💫

Giovanny is one of our veterinary assistants, who joined VEC in May 2025. He was born in Anaheim, CA, and raised in El Paso, TX. He started his veterinary career as a veterinary assistant in general practice, before joining VEC. He has really enjoyed learning more about ophthalmology while at VEC.

Outside of work, he likes to spend time with his wife, long walks and picnics in the park, and finding new restaurants to try. Gio is a history nerd, and enjoys museums and reading memoirs. He also enjoys watching anime and soccer, and his favorite team is FC Barcelona!

Get to know the VEC team! 👀

Grace is part of our technical team, who grew up in Roosevelt on Long Island. Grace’s love of animals began when she was young, spending time with her Chihuahua, Lady. This led her to a job at a pet store where she cared for the many small mammals, reptiles, and fish. After that, she became a kennel assistant at an animal hospital on Long Island, before becoming a veterinary assistant. After working there for a few years, she then joined VEC as a veterinary assistant.

Outside of works, Grace enjoys watching anime, taking long walks, going to museums, and eating pho!

We are excited to announce that this winter, the Veterinary Eye Center of Connecticut, Fairfield County’s premier pet ophthalmology practice, will open its doors in Greenwich, CT. Our brand-new facility will feature advanced diagnostic and surgical equipment, alongside a specially trained team dedicated to the highest standard of veterinary eye care.

The Connecticut location will be led by Dr. Andréa Minella, DVM, PhD, DACVO, who has been part of the VEC team since 2022 and most recently served as Medical Director of our Long Island City practice. Dr. Minella is looking forward to bringing the Veterinary Eye Center’s expertise and compassionate care to pets and families across Southern Connecticut and the surrounding region.

The Veterinary Eye Center was originally founded in New York City, with our first location opening in Manhattan in April 2021. Since then, we have expanded across Manhattan, Queens, and Massachusetts, caring for thousands of pets in need of specialized ophthalmic care. Our facilities, technology, and daily operations are all built with one purpose: delivering expert eye care for animals. We’re proud to support not just our patients, but also their families and our team, and we’re excited to extend this level of care to Fairfield County and beyond.

Stay tuned for updates as we get closer to opening day!
