Help us find a home for the SWEETEST girl, 11-month-old Maggie!

This delightful girl is about to celebrate her 1st birthday in the shelter after arriving here in August when she was 8-months-old. We never imagined that she’d still be here 4-months-later.

We remember the day she arrived at our Wantagh facility after a long trip from Georgia. She was delightful then and she’s delightful now - super affectionate, absolutely adorable, great with people AND other dogs!

Maggie loves pets, snuggles, and being close to her people. Her gentle, happy personality shines wherever she goes, and she’s the kind of dog who makes everyone smile. It’s time to make her smile, and give her the loving home she deserves. Meet her in Westhampton today!

Ares has been through a lot, but he’s slowly growing more comfortable and confident in his world.

He survived a fire that changed his life, and for a long time he was quiet and unsure. Now we see him relaxing in the sunshine, napping alongside his cat friends, and even reaching out to new people he’s getting to know. Every little interaction shows the gentle, curious cat he truly is.

Ares is ready for a calm, loving home where he can continue to feel safe, enjoy simple comforts, and keep building trust with the people who care for him. He’s come so far, and now he’s hoping for a family to call his own.

You can meet Ares at our Westhampton location. For more information, visit www.bideawee.org.

Some dogs have a smile. Bowtie has… whatever this is. It’s part grin, part “did I accidentally eat your sandwich?” and completely impossible not to love. He’s a certified chunker (the official, affectionate term), and he carries himself with the confidence of someone who knows he’s adorable.

He’s calm, sweet, and laid-back, loves people, gets along well with well-matched dog buddies, and is housebroken like the gentleman he is. Staff and volunteers call him perfect, and honestly, they’re right. If you need a smiling, easygoing sidekick, Bowtie is ready to meet you.

Head to www.bideawee.org for more information and to learn about our adoption process.

Apologies for the long post ahead, but Goldie and Pepper just celebrated a Birthday and have a very special story and request.❤️🎂🐱🐱🙏

Bonded sisters Goldie and Pepper need your help. These beautiful, gentle sisters were rescued from the Bronx and were so scared and shut down when they arrived, that they hid for weeks. We knew we had to get them into a foster home if they were going to make any progress, and fortunately, we did. For more than a year, these bonded sisters have been quietly tucked away in foster — safe, loved, and slowly learning to trust… but completely invisible to adopters.

Their foster mom adores them, but she already has two cats and cannot keep them. Returning them to the shelter where they can be seen by potential adopters seems like the right move, but for Goldie and Pepper, it’s not that easy. The shelter is incredibly stressful for them, and if they are forced to come back, they will regress, hide, and lose all the progress they’ve made.
The must loving situations for these sensitive kitties is for them to go from their foster home to their forever home.

And right now… no one knows they exist.

These bonded sisters just turned celebrated their second birthday and have blossomed into the sweetest pair.

✨ Pepper is a little LOVEBUG — she wants to curl up on your chest, tuck herself under the covers for movie night, and be close to her humans.
✨ Goldie is a gentle sun-lover — happiest lounging on a soft blanket, cozying up next to another cat, and soaking in the quiet moments.

They will both likely be shy when meeting someone new. They’ll need time, patience, and a calm environment to feel safe. But once they trust you, they love with their whole hearts. They just need someone who understands that the best relationships bloom slowly.

So today, we’re asking you to help us change their story. Share this post. Tag someone who would give shy cats a chance. Help us make their birthday wish come true.

Two cats. Two years. One wish: a home.
Let’s make it happen.

Meet Henry, our 16-pound superstar with the confidence of a dog three times his size and the personality to back it up.

Happy Foster Friday to sweet boy Iago! 🎭🐾
Meet Iago — a pint-sized scene-stealer with a flair for drama and a heart of gold. Whether he’s trotting into the room like he’s taking center stage or curling up in your lap after a standing ovation of belly rubs, this little guy lives to be part of the action.

In our own Shakespearean troupe, he’s the lovable trickster who keeps everyone laughing. 😌✨

Iago can be a bit reserved with new people, so we recommend an adult-only home, but once he trusts you? You’ve got a loyal best friend for life. He adores his humans, loves couch snuggles, and will gently paw your hand if you dare stop the belly rubs.

He also enjoys hanging out with other dogs, so a home with another friendly pup would be a bonus! 🐶💛

If you’re looking for a spirited sidekick with heart, humor, and just the right amount of drama, Iago is ready for his curtain call. 🎬

👉 Interested in adopting Iago? Head to the Bideawee website, click “in Foster” for location, and submit an application!
