If you haven't been to our training facility before, we have ample crating space, have a dedicated warm-up area, are heated and air conditioned, offer light exhibitor hospitality, sometimes have raffles, and we are literally in the shadows of the Outerbridge - so do not let "New York City driving" scare you away 😁

The 2025 Rally trial dates are:

1/31 Friday PM Trial - Judged by Laura Rixham
4/13 Sunday Double Trial - Judged by Danette Chorney
6/22 Sunday Double Trial - Judged by Karen Schroeder
8/10 Sunday Double Trial - Judged by Tibby Chase
9/20 Saturday Double Trial - Judged by Cheryl Pratt

Our double trials are typically run concurrently rather than AM/PM.

If you have any questions or are interested in training opportunities at the SICDTC training hall please do not hesitate to reach out!

LUNA EARNS HER FIRST RALLY TITLE!
I have to brag because I am SO SO SO very proud of my little NOVICE A dog! We competed in our first Rally Trial at SICDTC in September and received 2 legs towards our Novice title. In October we went to a double Rally Trial at Lower Camden Dog Training Club and got TWO qualifying runs, TWO 1st place ribbons with scores of 95 and 98! And our Rally NOVICE TITLE! I was tearing up for many reasons. I am SO PROUD of Luna! A year ago I never would have thought we would be attending dog shows and killing it! She went from being a scared, anxious dog worried about the world, to a confident, sassy, force of nature. Luna has taught me so much and is just amazing!

IZZY AND LEO SNIFF OUT SOME Q's & PLACEMENTS AT OUR OCTOBER TRIALS!!

Izzy trialed for the first time in advance containers and advance interiors -she got 3 out of four with a third placement.
Leo debut in his first trial ever in novice containers and novice interior. He got four out of four with second, third, fourth, and fifth place.
I am so happy with both their performances! ❤️

✨Meet the Instructor ✨
✨ Monday ✨

Gladys Stern-Instructor

Gladys' love for dogs began as a young girl, with her German Shepherd dogs (one of whom she saved in a house fire). In 1998, Gladys adopted a Labrador/Pitbull mix named Shea (we are big Mets’ fans in our home). Shea was a large, dominant male that tested her patience. She enrolled in several classes, did private lessons and eventually sought the help of a behaviorist, who helped her understand Shea’s emotional responses to stimuli. This experience gave Gladys valuable information. She decided to put her knowledge to the test by volunteering at a local rescue group, Staten Island Council for Animal Welfare (SICAW), where she adopted Maddie. Maddie was a very shy dog who lacked confidence and needed a lot of training and socialization, which brought Gladys to the Staten Island Companion Dog Training Club (SICDTC) in 2005. Maddie took several classes and flourished at SICDTC! She earned many titles and ribbons in obedience, rally, and agility. Eventually, Gladys’ love for training grew stronger and she started teaching at SICDTC. Maddie’s favorite thing to do was to assist her in puppy class. It became apparent that Maddie needed her own puppy, which brought us Harley. Harley was a Yorkshire Terrier with a huge heart and an even bigger personality. Harley enrolled in classes at SICDTC and over time earned several titles in obedience, rally, agility and tricks. In addition, Harley was also a certified therapy dog, and Gladys’ demo dog for SICDTC classes. Currently, Gladys has a schnauzer/yorkie cross (Izzy) whom she rescued from the Brooklyn Shelter. Izzy was four years old when Gladys adopted her. She has turned into a wonderful companion and is currently showing at the Master's level of Rally. Izzy is a certified therapy dog and hasher tricks title, but mostly is a joy to live with. Leo, a rescued, Golden-Cavalier mix is Glady's newest family member, who earns his treats by helping in class, Recently, Leo entered his first Scentwork trial and did very well! Gladys studied at SUNY Farmingdale College and is a registered Dental Hygienist. While Gladys has been practicing Dental Hygiene for over 40 years, her heart belongs to this club and the sport of dog training. When Gladys is not training dogs, she can be found spending time with her two daughters and four grandchildren. As you can see from the diverse set of dogs she’s owned and worked with throughout her life, Gladys loves all types of dogs. If you have a furry friend that needs some fun in their life, come join us! It may very well change your life.
