A Meow Parlour alumni is in need of your help!!!
Nala (formerly known as Chip) was adopted from Meow Parlour with her brother, Ash, at the end of 2023 after being fostered with her brother by . Lately, Nala has been dealing with constipation and a potential megacolon diagnosis. Over the past few days, she’s gone to the vet 3 times for a sedated e***a, which each time has proven ineffective. In order to save Nala’s life, she will now be getting a deobstipation, an incredibly costly procedure. Nala’s wonderful owner Stacey has been doing everything she can to help Nala through this, but is now in need of financial support to help cover all of these medical expenses. If you are able to contribute at all, please consider donating to help this little lady get back to the healthy, happy cat she was before!!

We’re so happy to announce that Freya and Mirasol, our bonded sisters and long-term residents at the cafe, have been ADOPTED!!! Freya and Mirasol came to Meow Parlour last July as scared, feral kittens who had just been rescued off the streets of Queens. Over the past six months at the cafe, we watched the sisters grow from kittens who would not even let a person touch them to the sweet, affectionate, playful girls they are today. The two were adopted while in our care as young kittens and then unfortunately surrendered back to the cafe, so we are so pleased to announce that they were picked up to finally go to their forever home yesterday! We’ll miss their playful energy, silly poses for photos, and punctuality for dinner time, but we can’t wait for the life they have ahead of them! Swipe through to see how the girls have grown up since their rescue!

Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who donated to our fundraiser for and came out yesterday to draw pictures of donors’ cats! We raised $2,860 for Pasadena Humane Society and drew over 100 cat portraits!
We are so grateful to every person in our community for stepping up to help animals affected by the wildfires in LA and for creating a supportive, fun community space together yesterday. We couldn’t do what we do without all of you.

Today marks the final day of our decade recap, and as we approach the end of 2024, we’d like to highlight a special kitty who’s currently up for adoption.

Meet Louey! He’s about six and a half years old. He is not only handsome but also incredibly sweet and affectionate. Louey has been diagnosed with early-stage kidney disease. At this time, he doesn’t require medication but does need prescription kidney-supportive wet food. Looking ahead, he’ll likely need occasional veterinary checkups to monitor his condition. While it’s difficult to predict how his health will progress, Louey isn’t letting it hold him back. He spends his days playing, lounging, and charming everyone he meets at the café. He loves curling up in laps and sometimes being held like a baby.

If you’d like to meet Louey, he’s currently at Meow Parlour. Feel free to reach out with any questions about him, and please help us spread the word. We also have several other wonderful adult cats and kittens looking for loving homes.

Not looking to adopt? You can still visit to hang out with Louey and his friends, helping them socialize and feel loved. We’re deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to our anniversary fundraiser, and donations are always appreciated—they help us continue rescuing and caring for cats like Louey.

Last year we welcomed Teddy, a charming 4-year-old cat who was very friendly. He seemed like the type of kitty who would be adopted in no time. But soon after he arrived, we noticed something unusual about his left hind leg. He had a limp, and his leg stuck out oddly when he sat. Concerned, we took him to the vet for X-rays, and the results were far more serious than we anticipated.

Teddy, like many cats, was very good at hiding his pain. Despite his friendly demeanor, the X-rays revealed an old, improperly healed injury. The vet explained that Teddy was already developing arthritis in the leg and would face increasing pain over time. To give him a pain-free future, the surgeon recommended amputation.

Teddy’s surgery was a success, and even better, he found his forever home right as his diagnosis was made! Renamed Oswald, he’s now thriving as a happy, playful tripod cat. You can follow his adventures at .the.tripod.

The cost of surgery was a substantial but necessary expense made possible by your amazing support. To ensure we can continue providing life-saving care for cats like Teddy without delay, we’re raising funds for our 10-year anniversary. With your help, we can give even more cats the comfort, care, and love they deserve in 2025!

By 2022, we had reopened our doors and we welcomed a stunning duo: Margarita and her son, Mezcal. While undeniably beautiful, they faced a few adoption challenges—they were seniors, Mezcal was shy, and they were a bonded pair of adult cats. We knew it might take time to find them the right family, but our experience gave us confidence that the perfect match would come.

Margarita was the braver of the two, venturing into the main space first. Mezcal, however, took much longer to adjust to the bustling environment. Though he remained cautious around people, he got along well with the other cats.

Whether it was their gentle demeanor, incredibly soft fur, or adorable bunny tails, Margarita and Mezcal managed to win over the hearts of adopters. After two months at the café, they found their perfect home.

Thanks to a decade of experience and your ongoing support, we’ve been able to welcome and care for cats who are harder to adopt. As we look toward 2025, we hope you’ll join us in saving even more cats!

In 2021, we were still conducting adoptions over Zoom. While we had developed a solid system by then, things didn’t always go as planned. Birch and Chestnut were returned shortly after being adopted so we had to put them back up for adoption and start the process again.

Birch and Chestnut were an incredibly fun pair, and their foster family absolutely adored them. Chestnut was playful and silly, while Birch had a calmer personality, he loved to be held and carried around like a baby. They shared a special bond with each other and with their humans.

At seven months old, though, they were in a tricky stage. Adopters often prefer either younger kittens or adult cats, making “teenagers” like Birch and Chestnut a harder sell—especially as a pair. Adding to the challenge was the need to explain why they’d been returned. Prospective adopters sometimes understandably worry about behavioral or elimination issues. We believe in being as transparent as possible because hiding known issues only creates problems later. It’s essential for adopters to understand what they’re signing up for to reduce the likelihood of returns. However, in Birch and Chestnut’s case, we had no concerns—they were simply perfect. They returned to their foster home, and while it took some time, they eventually found their perfect match and a loving forever home.

If you’re interested in fostering with us, feel free to reach out with any questions or visit our website for more information. And if fostering isn’t an option, please consider supporting our anniversary fundraiser to help more cats like Birch and Chestnut!

Like humans, cats and their behavior are shaped by their life experiences. While we don’t know much about Everything Bagel’s life before he was found and came to us in 2019, we suspect he must have faced some tough challenges. One of the first things we noticed was his unpredictable behavior: he could be incredibly affectionate one moment and suddenly become reactive the next.

This behavior made life in an environment like Meow Parlour difficult for Bagel, but we had a feeling he could thrive in the right home. He was placed in a foster home for several months. We discovered some critical insights: Bagel had been declawed and was suffering from arthritis. It probably explained much of his discomfort. He avoided using the litter box for extended periods of time because stepping on litter hurt his sensitive paws. It’s no wonder he was often grumpy and reactive—he was in pain.

Everything Bagel’s foster family worked tirelessly to manage his pain with meds and special accommodations, and to understand his behavior. They kept him engaged with treats and play, even teaching him a few commands to stimulate his mind. Over time, with consistent care and attention, Bagel began to show improvement. With the support of his foster family and our team, we were able to figure out what worked best for him and eventually match him with the perfect forever home.

Helping Bagel on his journey took time, resources, and compassion—something we couldn’t have provided without the help of our generous supporters. If you’d like to help us care for cats like Everything Bagel, please consider supporting our anniversary fundraiser.

If you’ve visited Meow Parlour, you might remember a quirky pillow featuring a cat with a floating leg hovering above her head. That cat is Peggy, a former resident of Meow Parlour from 2018. The “floating leg” was once hers, and it was so disproportionately large that it seemed to have a mind of its own hence her “Peggy and her Leggy” nickname.

Peggy was a joyful kitten, but this oversized and stiff limb clearly limited her. After consulting with our vet, we made the decision to remove her “permanent Angelina Jolie leg” to improve her quality of life. The surgery, though complex due to the twisted nature of her leg, was a success. Peggy’s recovery was swift, and she became an even more spirited firecracker, charming everyone she met at the café. She was so iconic that we even turned her into a saint candle! Shortly after her recovery, Peggy found a loving forever home.

Caring for cats like Peggy requires flexibility and resources. Sometimes we don’t know upfront if a cat will need surgery or specialized care, which is why our emergency fund is so essential. It ensures we can act quickly to give cats like Peggy the care they need without hesitation.
If you’d like to help us continue this mission, please consider contributing to our anniversary fundraiser. Your support makes happy endings like Peggy’s possible!

In 2017, we welcomed a pair of sibling cats, Leo and Milo, into our care. They were just three years old and had lost their home when their owner passed away. The transition was incredibly tough for them and we had no idea how long it would take for them to adjust. Although we brought them in April, it wasn’t until August that Leo dared to explore the main cat space.

Over the years, we’ve learned that bonded pairs of adult cats are among the most challenging to rehome. With Leo and Milo, it was even more difficult because they were so wary of human contact. However, they found comfort in the company of other cats and gradually began to adjust. Little by little, they warmed up to us and their new surroundings. By 2018—after several more months—they had blossomed into friendly companions and were finally adopted together into a loving home.

Their adopters renamed them Hales and Oates, and the pair even had their own Instagram account! Their transition to their new home was much smoother, and it was heartwarming to follow their adventures. Oates (formerly Leo), the shyer of the two, eventually became incredibly cuddly. Sadly, he passed away last year, but we find comfort in knowing he had a second chance at life, filled with love from his brother and their devoted humans.

It’s because of your support that we can take on cases like Leo and Milo. If you’d like to help us continue making a difference, please consider donating to our anniversary fundraiser. Together, we can give more cats like Leo and Milo the chance to find their forever homes.

When you’re unfamiliar with CH (Cerebellar Hypoplasia), it can be a bit disorienting at first. Back in 2016, we received a message late one night from someone who thought they saw through the window that one of our cats had suffered a stroke. That cat turned out to be F***y, one of the two CH siblings we had taken in after their caregiver passed away. F***y was full of s***k and had managed to escape her pen for a little nighttime adventure on the cat floor.

CH is a non-degenerative condition that affects motor skills. While F***y could get around just fine, she was very wobbly. Her brother, Nicky, had an even more severe case. He could make it to the litter box but preferred spending most of his time snuggling with his friends. Nicky was incredibly gentle, with the sweetest personality, and he had the cutest cinnamon roll-shaped tail.

Caring for the pair required extra effort since they could get messy, but we knew having them at the café would increase their exposure and improve their chances of finding forever homes. They quickly became beloved by the team, who also enjoyed the opportunity to educate visitors about CH. While many people felt sorry for Nicky and F***y, our goal was to show everyone that they could live happy, fulfilling lives, and that they were not in pain. Eventually, both F***y and Nicky were adopted into loving homes.

Fun fact: to this day, when we talk about Nicky, we call him ’s son. He’s even featured (twice!) on the mural designed by that celebrates the team’s personal cats. You can also spot this design on our gift bags, available in our retail space and at the holiday markets.

If you’d like to help us save more special-needs cats like F***y and Nicky, please consider supporting our anniversary fundraiser. Every contribution makes a difference!

In 2015, we fell head over heels for Meow Parlour’s very first queen, Fang. At 10 years old, we didn’t know how she’d adjust to life at Meow Parlour or how hard it might be to find someone willing to open their heart to a senior cat.

Fang, however, quickly proved how special she was. Not only was she stunning, but she was also incredibly sweet and full of personality. Though she wasn’t a fan of her younger feline roommates, she adored the attention she received from the team and from visitors. She spent her days lounging at the desk, and when it was dinner time, she would make a dramatic beeline—hissing all the way—to the back of the cat space. She loved her dinner!

Happily, Fang found her perfect home. Her adopter kept in touch with us, sending updates and holiday cards every year. Fang got the second chance she deserved and lived her golden years to the fullest, surrounded by love until she passed in 2021. Even now, we can’t forget the softness of her fur and her gentle little head butts.

If you’d like to help us save more senior cats like Fang, please consider contributing to our anniversary fundraiser. Together, we can give more deserving cats the second chance they need.

This adorable orange kitty named Lucky Lemon was part of the very first Meow Parlour cohort composed of 7 cats! Though he was the shyest of the crew, he loved driving his cardboard ice cream truck and he was featured all over the press we got at the time.

While he enjoyed hanging out with the other cats, he wasn’t a fan of being touched by strangers, which made the Meow Parlour environment a bit challenging for him.
An adoption rep at , which was our rescue partner at the time, mentioned that cats named Lucky often ironically face difficulties in finding homes—and unfortunately, it did take a while for Lucky Lemon. He eventually found his perfect match and he taught us early on of the importance of understanding and honoring each cat’s unique personality, even when it doesn’t align with some visitors’ expectations.

Since Lucky Lemon, we’ve cared for many shy cats. While we sometimes worry they might struggle to find homes, we’ve learned there’s always someone special willing to take a chance on them—and when they do, the connection is magical.

Even if adopting a shy kitty like Lucky Lemon isn’t an option for you right now, you can still help us save more cats like him. By spreading the word about our fundraiser and contributing to our anniversary goal, you’ll be making a difference for countless shy cats waiting for a home.
