He came to us with eye issues that he has since received surgery for thanks to @bbawcrescueclinic, and he’s now fully recovered and ready to join you in your home! We love you, Marvin!❤️

Scorpio season is here, and Jacob’s Ladder is our spokescat.🐱 This small but mighty kitten is ambitious, and sometimes a little bit obsessive (we have so many videos of him hunting pigeons in the window). He claims he does other things, but like any good Scorpio, he is very secretive about his side projects.
He is a loyal and energetic little guy, who will get very jealous if you don’t adopt him (maybe with his friend, Uniform?).❤️

Canvas was found wandering a busy area with an injured leg that was clearly causing her immense amounts of pain. After being scooped up she had her much needed amputation surgery. She recovered well and her spirit never wavered. We are so glad we had the resources to help Canvas and her friends start a new life in Brooklyn.

Some of our cats get adopted in one weekend, and others stay at the cafe for months before their perfect family comes along. We love having them here, but we want all of them to experience a home of their own.🥺 So today, we’re taking a moment to show you a few of our longest cafe residents. These cats are all amazing and special, and they’re all very different from one another. Damask & Siobahn are only 8 months old, and Barnabas is a more distinguished 8 years old. Uniform loves other cats, but Pink Bluey would prefer to be your one and only.

‼️We still have spots left in our Junior Animal Caretaker youth classes!‼️This class is held every other Tuesday from 3:30-5:30pm, starting on October 1! The class is geared towards kids ages 10-13.
This video is from our first Junior Rescuer class yesterday, where we had students count types of cats in the cafe “colony”. These behind the scenes classes teach participants about how to care for all the animals at the cafe (including dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, turtles, and more), how to handle them, and how to feed them. At the end of the course you will receive an accomplished animal caretaking card showing you are certified in the care of our animals. You will also be eligible to sign up for specific youth volunteer shifts!🐈

Jules was surrendered after his owner could no longer care for him. He was scared and shut down, and it was unclear if he would even learn to trust humans again after all that he had been through.❤️🩹After some patience (and treats!), Jules showed us his resilience and came back sweeter than ever.🍭
This boy has been in foster for months with no adoption interest. His foster is leaving for travel in October, and we would love to find him a forever home before then. There are many reasons to spay your cat, even if they don’t spend time outdoors and aren’t at risk of having kittens. The story of Luna is a perfect example. Luna’s father recently thanked us again for helping them with their feisty feline!
Luna’s doting family was at their wits end. Luna was in heat — again! No one was getting any peace or any sleep. Cats in heat generally vocalize a lot, and exhibit other unpleasant behaviors. Even worse, this can happen every 2-3 weeks during breeding seasons! Luna was unhappy and her family was unhappy… thanks to BBAWC’s low cost spay/neuter clinic Luna was spayed — as well as vaccinated & microchipped. Upon her return home, not only did peace and quiet abound but Luna is living a happier, healthier life chasing toys and stalking pigeons out of her favorite window.
