KittyKind is a no-kill cat rescue group that rescues, cares for, and finds loving homes for all ages and types of cats. We pride ourselves on our commitment to caring for and finding the best adoptive homes for those cats that are deemed "special needs," be it because of illness, injury, disability, or age. Nigel is a cute young tabby and white male who is energetic and social. He loves people and attention. He loves to know what you’re up to, and will follow you everywhere. He’s very confident with other cats, but knows when to back away. He’s only vocal when complaining about something. Nigel can be picky about food, but right now he seems to like chunky wet food. Torta was trapped as part of a TNR project when he was about 4 months old. During recovery from neuter, he showed that he is very sweet and calm and wanted the indoor life! Now just over a year old, Torta is sweet and gentle, and quickly showed his soft side shortly after rescue. He loves to eat, cuddle with people and play with other cats. Absolutely gorgeous Charli was found in Highbridge Park in upper Manhattan, where she was trying to get some food. She likely had a home previously. Charli is cute, engaging and curious. She is friendly and will walk up to the door to greet you. She is chatty when she wants something, mainly food. She rubs up against you, loves ear and chin rubs, loves a good brushing and purrs a lot. She will sit by you and keep you company. Sometimes she can get a little over-excited if petted for too long, and may try to play-bite. She is intelligent and a total sweetheart. And yes, Charli’s markings are quite stunning! Charli is indifferent toward other cats, but doesn’t mind sharing space with them. She’s not a fan of dogs. One year old Charli is FIV and FeLV negative, spayed, and up to date on shots. Mimi, at about 2 years old, is graceful and calm. She enjoys quiet moments and the simple pleasure of having her own human(s) to call her parents. She will sit by your side and sleep with you in bed at night. Mimi is definitely a “nap in the sun from the window” girlie, and social. Tyler actually from the same situation that Paco and Kalu came from– where the owner who passed away and the landlord through them out. Luckily these cats were rescued from that situation! Tyler is healthy, even after all he’s been through, and just needs a loving home. 4 year old Tyler can most likely go with another cat, but preferably not a dog, or he can go as a single. Alexis a gorgeous gray tabby 9 month old female. She is very interested in her human roommates! She is a curious cat who will follow you around the home. Alexis likes to play with her mice and jingle ball toys. She enjoys sitting next to you on the couch and watching TV, but is still developing her cuddle instincts. When eating you can give her pets, and she is warming up each day. Alexis should be adopted to an experienced pet owner, either as a single or through thoughtful introduction to a resident cat. Paco (2 year old tuxedo male) and Kalu (3 year old black male) are two cats who were thrown out of their home when their owner passed away. They were literally put out on the street! Paco is a high-energy guy who is quite social. He love all people and will soak up all the attention you’d like to lavish upon him. He’s also a lap cat, and he gives little kisses– what a doll! He likes to play with other cats, and with people. Kalu is a relaxed and social guy who is affectionate and playful. He loves gazing out of the window at the flora and fauna of the city. Louie is a 7 year old male who is a playful cat and that is good with adult humans. He likes to jump on high things, so he enjoys a cat tree or perch. He loves to look out the window at passing birds. He enjoys playing with fluffy interactive toys. Louie will do well in a home with no other cats and no young children (teens who know how to respect a cat’s boundaries would be fine). He will be anxious in the first few days in your home and will hide anywhere he can find, but after a few days of exploring and acclimating, his personality of a good, playful boy will emerge. He is not a cuddler or a lap cat, but will sit by your feet or near you on the couch. If you place his cat bed near you in your main living space, he will spend a lot of time there. Pan is a 10 year old male house panther. He was recently checked out by the vet and is in excellent health and has good teeth– despite being neglected in his former home where the person’s health declined and was no longer able to care for him. He is now thriving in foster care and is very sweet and affectionate. He loves to be pet and sleep on your lap. What a little sweetie Mason is! When you enter the room, he’ll rub against your legs so you know he’s ready for pets. He also likes to hang in the living room and watch cat TV. Mason also enjoys bird watching. But mostly, Mason loves to be held. He will plop however you place him on yourself. He purrs and loves to be kissed. Mason is a good boy and needs a loving home. He seeks attention and wants to be held close. He falls asleep by 9pm and keeps quiet throughout the night. He understands commands and isn’t afraid of his rescuer’s dog! Come adopt Miss Cassidy, How can your heart not go out to this lovely girl, especially after all she’s been through yet is still ready to accept love from people? When Miss Cassidy was rescued in Queens, she had a badly infected eye which needed to be removed (the sad but not uncommon result of untreated eye infections that homeless cats suffer.) Maintaining a healthy diet and good teeth is another near impossibility for homeless cats, and Miss C had to have all her teeth removed. But, with great vet care and devoted fosterers, Miss C is well on her way to complete recovery. And this beautiful girl, about 3 years old, is not the least bit “diminished” by missing one eye and all teeth! Miss C is a lovely cat, who can be cautious at first, but as she gets to know you, she becomes increasingly self-confident. With that confidence, she blossoms. At first, she didn’t even know how to play and was actually afraid of toys, but, in time, she was batting her toys around and discovering the joys of having FUN! Likewise, initially inclined to stay in her “safe spot” under a couch, it does not take too long for her affectionate nature to emerge and for her to show a keen interest in being petted. She’ll purr wildly in pure delight! She's a gentle cat, with a very sweet disposition. She would do best in a calm home, without children. She gets along with other cats, if they are gentle cats, and can also be the only cat in your home. Miss Cassidy is FIV and FeLV negative, spayed, and up to date on shots. Penny is a beautiful three year old silver tabby girl who was discovered in a basement of an apartment building camped out in the laundry room. Though she was occasionally fed by some residents, the rescuer who was alerted to her presence noticed immediately that she was nearly starved. The rescuer undertook to make her healthy, providing not only high-quality food, but also the vet care she needed– including a dental to extract a broken tooth. Penny has revealed herself to be a chill cat, who might be shy at first but then her curiosity takes over and she’ll seek out affection. Gentle and docile, she loves to be pet and will happily spend time sitting by your side, though she is not a fan of being picked up (that may come in time.) She will often greet you when you come home and, when she has something to say, she can be chatty! Penny does not like other cats, so she is best-suited to be the only cat in your home and the sole feline object of your affection! If you’re looking for a low maintenance cat, who is a nice mix of being independent yet affectionate, consider Penny.
