Sylvia is supermodel gorgeous, but she comes from humble beginnings. Born to a feral mom, she was rescued as a kitten with her siblings. But she had some health issues due to parasites (very common with cats born outdoors!) which delayed her being available for adoption. But now she’s here and she’s ready for her new home! Two year old Sylvia is sweet, smart, very funny, and she takes care of her beautiful coat all by herself. She doesn’t need daily brushing like some medium-haired cats. She loves other cats and made friends with all the cats in her rescuer’s home. She can be a single cat in a home where she can get the attention and playtime she craves. Louie is a 6 year old male who is a playful cat and that is good with adult humans. He likes to jump on high things, so he enjoys a cat tree or perch. He loves to look out the window at passing birds. He enjoys playing with fluffy interactive toys. Louie will do well in a home with no other cats and no young children (teens who know how to respect a cat’s boundaries would be fine). He will be anxious in the first few days in your home and will hide anywhere he can find, but after a few days of exploring and acclimating, his personality of a good, playful boy will emerge. He is not a cuddler or a lap cat, but will sit by your feet or near you on the couch. If you place his cat bed near you in your main living space, he will spend a lot of time there. Little George is an absolute doll! So very sweet and gentle, George loves people and can be pet all over. He adores catnip, and he’s got a funny fluffy tail. He was rescued on the street when he was looking around for one of his loves, food. Little George is under a year old and is FIV and FeLV negative, neutered, and up to date on shots. He gets along with other gentle cats, and can also be the only cat in your home. Come see him at Petco Union Square!

Lumen (gray and white) and Cookie (black) are gentle and affectionate 6 month old bonded brothers. They’re calm–even during vet visits! Lumen is more adventurous, and he loves to explore. This beautiful tortie might just be the most perfect, adaptable cat we’ve ever met! 4 year old Sophie was rescued in Canarsie, demanding to be taken in by her rescuer. She’s intelligent, inquisitive, social and outgoing, and she gets along with absolutely everyone. Once she knows you, expect her to sit on your lap. She loves naps, food, and playtime. Sophie is FIV positive. FIV (Feline immunodeficiency virus) is a chronic autoimmune disorder that generally remains dormant in most cats who test positive. Yearly vet visits and teeth cleanings will keep any cat healthy, and are important for FIV positive cats. No medication is required for this condition. It’s rarely transmitted between indoor cats, and it’s not transmitted to dogs or humans. Sophie gets along with cats, dogs, and kids! Sophie is a very social cat and would be best in a home with another animal, or an owner who could spend time with her. Sophie is FeLV negative, spayed, and up to date on shots. Demi is a farm girl from the Catskills. Born on a farm, the owner gave her to a rescuer who could get her adopted… because Demi is a city gal at heart! Her rescuer notes that Demi is so easy-going that she allowed her nails to be clipped within minutes of arriving at her home! She’s a big fan of laps and of getting cuddles. 9 month old Demi likes other cats, but she’s definitely dominant, and shouldn’t go to a home with another dominant cat. She’d be great as the only cat in your home! She’s good with kids. Demi is FIV and FeLV negative, spayed, and up to date on shots. Come see her at Petco Union Square!

Rocky is a tabby male that’s about 9 months old who was rescued from a backyard during a TNR project. He’s a very playful and curious kitty, who loves to run around! He especially likes to play chase, if other kitties are involved, and likes to entice them to chase him. Though he’s on the large side, he’s very deferential toward other kitties and quite the gentlemen in general. He may seen standoffish until he gets comfortable with you, but once he does, he’s a real sweetheart. He loves to stretch out so you can stroke his side and tummy, but if you pet his tummy when he’s on his back, he might kick you a little. He also will sit in your lap, though you might have to pick him up and put him there before he gets to know you and jumps there himself. He does not yet understand it when you hold his face and kiss his forehead, but we think he’ll get there. 😊 We think Rocky would be good with kids, too. Rocky would likely be fine solo, as long as someone will play with him and give him lots of love and treats. As mentioned, he’d be great with other cats or kittens, too. He is also not a finicky eater and is not aggressive about his food with others. Come meet Rocky at our Adoption Center in Petco Union Square!

Yoko is a beautiful green eyed dilute Calico. At five years old, she is sweet and calm. She loves to be pet and be in your presence. She will greet you upon arrival and call out to you when she wants some love and attention. Yoko likes other cats and can also be the only cat in your home. Mecox is a fifteen year old pixie-bob who is looking for a new home. She is an independent cat but at the same time very loving. She has started talking much more over the past few years, particularly when she wants something. When she isn’t sleeping, she is often just “hanging out” and watching. She loves to sleep on the bed at night, usually starting at the foot of the bed but then often coming up during the might for some loving. She starts purring immediately when scratched around the ears and chin. She should be the only animal in the house at this point and I think she would be an ideal cat under those circumstances. When her routine is disrupted or if she is “annoyed” she will p*e on something soft, so care must be taken to shut certain doors and put items on things like newspapers if they are lying on the floor. Looking for the perfect kitten? Look no further than Evie Mae! This adorable mini-panther with amber eyes is about 7 months of age - she is SUPER friendly. She loves to crawl into your lap with a cute chirp, and falls asleep while kneading and purring. She’s playful and energetic, yet also appreciates a good long, nap—preferably next to you! Mimi, at about 2 years old, is graceful and calm. She enjoys quiet moments and the simple pleasure of having her own human(s) to call her parents. She will sit by your side and sleep with you in bed at night. She is perfect for a peaceful home and prefers to be the only pet in the home. Egress, a handsome tuxedo teenager with a funny little white mustache, was taken in by his rescuer when his original family no longer could keep him and planned to bring him to Animal Care & Control. In his rescuer’s care as she got him neutered and vetted, Egress revealed himself to be is a very typical teen cat– wide-eyed, full of energy, and trying to figure out how he’s meant to navigate the world. He loves to play and goes crazy for kicker toys and cat dancers. When Egress switches out of crazy kitten mode, he’ll eagerly snuggle up on the bed or perch nearby while you’re working. He is happy to be picked up and sit on your lap (though he might not stay for long as he has things to do… like cats to wrestle with, watch the passing world from the windowsill, and his daily exercises of sprinting back and forth).
 
Though he has mellowed since his neuter, this one year old boy remains a high-energy cat. In his excitement during an active play or petting session, he might think your hands are toys and do some play-biting… but this smart boy has been a star pupil in learning that humans don’t quite enjoy the rough-housing that an active feline buddy would provide. Egress needs to be adopted into a home with another young, active cat. A lover of other cats, Egress also loves human attention, so long hours left alone might not suit him. This adorable, funny, nutty (in a good way!), loving teenager will keep you entertained! Egress is negative for FIV and FeLV, neutered, and up-to-date on his vaccinations. Prince and Pirate are so bonded that when Prince was rescued first, Pirate showed up at his rescuer’s door looking for him! Prince Oreo is a guy who loves to eat. He’s also a mellow, calm, chill cat. He can still be a little timid from his time outside, but when he feels insecure, he seeks out his BFF Pirate. Prince also loves dogs and is a dog grooming expert! Pirate is an easy-going dude who still gets silly for a good laser game. He also loves a comfy bed, fresh water, and keeping Prince happy. These boys are about 5 years old.
