"There's a Ribbon in the Sky
for our Love" 🌈🐾
Last night we had to say goodbye to our sweet girl Ribbon. This throwaway mom had been bred so many times and then was discarded at the shelter like trash. But we knew she was a treasure! 💎Ribbon did not like other dogs much, she honestly did not like every person she met… But if she did approve, this sassy girl made you her best friend. We wish we could have given this girl more time with us, but the carcinoma that invaded her body took over and it wasn't meant to be. And although she didn't find her forever home, she has an eternal home in our heart.
A huge heart of gratitude to her angel foster Jenn who cherished her to the end. 💙

A personal note from the AmsterDog team:

1. Transporter books a trip with us for $500-700. (twice what every other Transporter charges)
2. Transporter gets to her destination 4-6 hours late.
3. Transporter asks foster for money claiming she did this entire transport for free.

If this scene sounds familiar to you, then you are then you are probably one of the many people who have registered complaints with us about this Transporter.
When we found out about this dishonesty, and told this transporter we would no longer be using her services, her reaction was to take vengeance on one of our fosters thinking that she had taken over her job. She has made it her mission to disparage our rescue by employing her friends to put up negative posts and not even using her real name.
Our mission is to help animals in any way we can, not to bully others, not to bring people down in their life, but to support them in every way possible. We are not perfect but we always always try our best. We will not tolerate bullying and threats. We are here for the animals.

Shelters across the country are struggling. Intake remains constant and adoptions continue to wane. Access to affordable vet care, the cost of housing, and even the cost of food has impacted family's ability to keep their pets. The same financial pressures that lead people to surrender their pets are the same ones preventing potential adopters from adding a pet into their home.

So far in August, over 1,000 new animals have come in to ACC. This is in addition to the 800 animals already in our care at the start of the month. All of these animals require care and support from our dedicated team. In order to keep up with this demand, we are hiring additional staff, recruiting new volunteers, partnering with influencers to encourage adoptions and working with families to try and keep pets in their homes.

We are asking for your help to get through these summer months. Here is how you can get started today:

Adopt: We have hundreds of pets that are available for adoption today. Adoption fees start at $25 and include vaccinations, microchips and spay/neuter surgeries. Go to nycacc.app to view all of them today.

Foster: Taking a pet or a litter of kittens into your home temporarily will help us save lives by opening up new kennels for incoming pets. You can find out more information on our website: https://www.nycacc.org/foster

Help Lost Pets Get Back Home: If you find a stray pet, help them get back home by walking through the neighborhood, posting their photo to , and taking steps to get them back to their families before bringing them to the shelter. DELAWARE COUNTY, PA: It’s a bird…It’s a plane…It’s our very own super hero Batdog BRUCE!

Stunning and regal Bruce is a 1-2 year old shepherd mix and weighs 78 lbs. Bruce is incredibly sweet and although he may be a bit shy at first, he wants to love and be loved. And once he is comfortable, Bruce turns into an affectionate, snuggly love-bug! Bruce is truly an amazing dog but may need an experienced home who understands him. His adorably large ears do their jobs wonderfully as Bruce is an excellent listener. He loves to be close to you, often seeking reassurance and his soft fur is so easy to pet. Poor Bruce has been through so much; after being abandoned at the chaotic, over-crowded shelter, he was terribly heart broken and his stress landing him very quickly on the euthanasia list. Fortunately, a foster opened her home to Bruce and he has been well-behaved, crate trained, and impeccably housetrained guest! Bruce is a true gentleman, and also extremely food motivated.

Bruce may take a minute to warm up to people, but is not dog reactive - he will need to be separated from other dogs before slow, proper intros are done. No cats for him! Really, he just needs an experienced home with understanding and the set up for Bruce to succeed. This smarty-pants already knows the cues sit, stay, paw, and down! His foster says that Bruce just LOVES to play fetch – it is his favorite thing ever, and is perfectly happy to just fetch for hours! He also loves his squeaky toys. But when he plays with you, Bruce is so gentle. Bruce is fully vetted, neutered, microchipped and ready to be your best friend!

Cutie-pie boxer mix PANCAKE 🥞
Needs a foster/adopter!

ELMIRA, NY: Sweet as syrup, Pancake is the deluxe choice with heaping sides of cuteness and charm!

Pancake is a 2 years old boxer mix and weighs 57 lbs. She was found as a stray right before the holidays in 2023 and brought to the city shelter, where she instantly melted hearts with her big, beautiful eyes and expressive face. Her happy, playful personality solidified her as a staff favorite, but she always flashed her endearing underbite in a big doggy smile anyway.

Young Pancake was rescued from the shelter and has since been staying in a caring foster home, where they fondly call her Penny for short and agree that her wonderful personality is as unique as her adorable looks. They report that she is a happy, spunky gal who loves to be where her people are. And Pancake isn’t just a pretty face either – she is super smart and easily trained! She already knows some commands and is crate-trained. She enjoys playing enrichment games, like puzzles. Pancake is affectionate and loves to be pet – you know you have her heart when she rolls over for belly rubs! (psst- don’t forget the butt scritches!) Pancake happily accepts toys and loves to run around the yard in her foster home. Pancake has so much love to give and will occasionally give you a smooch…or five. Pancake needs to be the only dog in an adult home with no cats. Pancake is still young and we do not know what she has been through, so she still needs some guidance; but with the right home, lots of love, and room to play, we know she will make a wonderful companion!

Mosher is a very sweet boy and loves to play ball and go for car rides.. Loves his treats and the cuddles.. Mosher needs to be the only pet because he get excited and silly. Please please help him.. Mosher loves kids and people especially anyone who will give him attention. Mosher also just loves being a couch potato too..
