Dear Park Slope Veterinary Center Hospital Staff,
My foster fur baby Lyla ran away from her new forever family, on Friday, April 7th. She bolted out off front door in Ditmas Park-10 seconds after she was brought to new forever home.
She is a Silky Terrier/ Yorkie Terrier who answers to the name Lyla.
She has a red/pink collar and may be wearing a blue diaper.
She was recently spayed so her spay scar is not healed completely. She is very sweet but, at first not very trusty of strangers
She is microchipped to Posh Pet Rescue.
Please call Justyna (foster mom) 718-864-3730 or Linda (Posh Pet Rescue) 917-319-4304 with any info about Lyla.
Thank you!
ADOPT EUPHRATES
Euphrates is still with us and up for adoption. She is a little shy at first, but she adores anyone willing to put in the time and get to know her! She's even taken to giving little gum kisses now that she has healed after her dental.
Nice, loving, and healthy - this adult lady needs a home!
Feline Ear Mites
If your cat is suffering from itchy ears with lots of "coffee-ground-like" debris inside, it is a good idea to have them checked for ear mites. These nasty little mites are very contagious and easily passed from pet to pet via contact in the home or outside. While these mites can infect both dogs and cats, they are more likely in our feline friends. They can affect both indoor and outdoor pets of all ages, but are more common in younger and outdoor pets. Luckily, humans are typically immune to these mites.
An infestation of ear mites can lead to ruptured blood vessels from excessive shaking or scratching, known as an aural hematoma, or a number of secondary skin and ear infections. Diagnosing ear mites is relatively simple - requiring us to take a sample from the pet's ears and examine it under the microscope. You can see some of the live mites in the attached video.
To give you an idea of what it would be like to have ear mites - imagine the constant, irritating feeling of a small bug crawling on your skin combined with the incessant "snap crackle and pop" of the mites moving about and reproducing.
Something we dont come across everyday. Meet Atlas 5m old Hybrid Macaw came by just to say hi!
