Our Adoption Procedure
Once you've found the cat of your dreams and wish to begin the adoption process, email our Adoption Manager (adopt@anje

lliclecats.com) or click on the links above to fill out an application online. Once your application is approved, we schedule you to attend a seminar in cat care that lasts about 75 minutes. We invite both experienced and novice alike and are presently offering this as an online group seminar via Zoom or Skype. Then you would sign the adoption papers, pay the adoption fee, and make arrangements for the cat to be moved to your home. We always do a home visit which is both reassuring to the cat when it is being introduced and to the foster who has taken care of the cat. Presently we are doing home visits with FaceTime or Zoom to confirm you have secure windows, no toxic plants and a generally safe environment for a cat. Then we coordinate pick up by the adopter or drop off by the foster, depending on what both parties are comfortable doing. The adoption fee is $150 for one cat under 7 years old, $75 for one cat 7 years and older. This fee includes initial shots, microchip, FIV FeLV test, deworming, and spay/neuter. We believe it is much kinder to adopt kittens with another kitten or cat unless there is already a cat or a very cat-friendly dog in their new household, and for this reason, we generally do not adopt out single kittens.

INKY UPDATE He's been to the emergency vet 3 times in 3 days because his eye kept bleeding. Today (Friday) he got additional stitches to seal the incision better. Kitten Inky is doing his best to keep up his spirits. But he is sad and frustrated and so are we. He should be playing with his sibling not on cage rest wearing a cone. URGENT! Kitten Inky needs your help now with emergency medical care. His routine neuter and eye enucleation has become anything but. The incision isn't healing as expected and he may need a revision eye surgery to repair the wound. This sweet youngster was found outside with his sister, both suffering from a bad URI and eye issues. We couldn't save his eye but we had hoped he was finally past all the vet visits. BEANBAG HAS THE BLUES! His foster placement fell through and he needs new digs asap. This 11yr old loves being around people and is a wonderful work buddy. He doesn't jump on your computer during Zoom calls yet will happily join the discussion if allowed. His ideal person works from home or is home A LOT. He takes his heart meds 2x per day without fuss. HAPPY TALE! We are overjoyed to share that Dolan has found his forever home. After going through several fosters, his last one decided he should stay put. And Dolan wholeheartedly agrees! DOLAN'S STORY: We met this tuxedo fella in April 2021 when he was so bloated and constipated from dehydration and a terrible diet that he looked pregnant. Multiple fosters helped him on the long road to reset his gastrointestinal system. And his foster/adopter has also helped him work through his nipping and fully embrace the housecat life. He sleeps at her feet or curled up next to her, often resting his chin on her. As she works from home, Dolan is known to crash her zoom meetings and has a chair right next to her desk. And yes, he pouts and knocks stuff over if she dares to put anything on it. Dolan offers opinions on her meetings from his chair using a tongue/eye ranking system. When he determines the workday should be done, he squeezes in under her monitor setup and refuses to move. He still gets agitated by noises and meows when he can't immediately find his favorite human. Yet today Dolan is the happy, healthy kitty he was meant to be.

Skittles and Snickers are doing well! They were barely a week old when we drove away with them from Manhattan ACC. Today they are thriving under the care of one of our amazing fosters. Renamed Mac and Holly, they will be ready for adoption in a couple weeks. BEANBAG NEEDS A FOSTER BY FRI SEPT 6! This chonky lovebug had a great time with his temp foster in Westchester. But she travels for work so Beanbag is on the search again. He REALLY enjoys being around gentle humans - NEEDS to have company in fact. Beanbag can be around very calm, friendly cats who like other kitties but his true love is people. This bundle of affection needs heart meds 2x per day, which he takes without issue. Beanbag was a devoted companion to his owner for a decade until she died. UPDATE: We are heartbroken to share that Hope passed away. She did not improve despite aggressive treatment and was suffering. This is a sad outcome but we don’t regret trying to give Hope a chance. URGENT! Hope needs your help now. This underweight kitten was found lethargic and struggling to breath in a basement. Volunteers with agreed to work with us to give Hope the emergency care she desperately needed. Labwork shows severe dehydration, elevated kidney values and a bacterial infection. Cocomelon is safe! This sweet senior has had a rough couple of months. Piecing together her story, Cocomelon 202840 was surrendered to Manhattan ACC - the first time - after she scratched her owner. He tried to remove her from a carrier when two of her babies began to fight and Cocomelon was trying to intervene. He reclaimed her and then quickly brought her back to ACC because she nipped him when he grabbed because she was agitated around the kittens and adult cats. So much is wrong about her past and we are happy to give this 9-yr-old a chance at a better future. Please honor your pledges for Cocomelon via PayPal or Venmo. Narciss and Nilang are safe! Pulled from Brooklyn ACC, they have mild URIs and the tuxie also needs eye meds. The foster reports she has already coaxed some purrs from the scared little ones. Vet visits plus meds for goopy eyes are routine for kittens. But these costs really add up. DUFFY UPDATE: Remember the scared kitten dumped at a store? Duffy has become quite the fearless youngster and is ready for his forever home. Duffy looooves to zoom around and needs a buddy who can keep up with his nonstop need to play tag and wrestle. When he isn't tussling with the resident cat that is 10 lbs bigger, Duffy enjoys napping on people. Like most 3.5-mo old kittens, he has no concept of boundaries and so needs a little patience as he figures things out. Email [email protected] to meet Duffy!

ADOPT ME! Avery is an awesome 3yr old kitty looking for his forever human. He enjoys being around chill adults who believe in couch time and wand toys. One of his favorite things is to lounge right next to you gently touching you with his paw, offering love and support. Meet handsome Quinn. He’s just over 2 years old and desperately needs a home with a patient foster parent and a cat friend. He’s been in boarding for many months through no fault of his own. He can be pet with treats - loves lickable treats - and needs someone to work with him to gain his trust. Since he likes other cats, ideally we’d love to find him a home with a buddy. But his situation is such that we want to get him into a foster home, even as a solo, so he can start to have the life he deserves. HAPPY TALE! Meow from Mavis: “Wishing everyone a happy 4th of July! I’m celebrating the holiday in my forever home and it’s everything I’d always hoped for. As a black female cat of a certain age, I kept getting overlooked. I’m calm and gentle, but people thought I was too shy because I don’t just jump on anyone’s lap. It’s called manners folks. URGENT PLEA FOR NYC-AREA FOSTER: Sweet senior Peanut Butter needs your help! Adopted as a young adult, this 15-yr-old calico is back at the city shelter ACC after her adopter surrendered her because she was moving. Once again we are so grateful for microchips. Based on the ACC behavior assessment, she likes people and solicits attention once she relaxes in a new space. She is underweight but otherwise seems in decent shape. URGENT NYC AREA FOSTER NEEDED BY Wednesday JUNE 5TH FOR BONDED PAIR. Smokey & Bandit are losing their foster home very soon. These brothers are just over a year old and had lived a hard life outside until they were rescued when they became ill. Luckily they were nursed back to health and are doing great. This adorable pair complement each other personality-wise, with Bandit (mostly white) being more outgoing and affectionate and Smokey (mostly grey) being a bit on the shy side.
