Shh... our farmers might still be catching up on their well-deserved rest! 🤫
As we approach the winter solstice, the early mornings and long hours in the fields have given way to a slower pace. They’re finally able to dive into that book that’s been collecting dust since July, and make amends with that cat that’s been eagerly waiting morning snuggles.
Day after day, no matter the weather, our farmers take to the fields to care for the soil, tend the crops and support one another, knowing that their efforts are more than just growing food. It’s a life that’s as rewarding as it is demanding, and it takes a toll on both body and soul.
What keeps our team going, though, is the view from the field: looking up at the city and knowing that more than half of what they’ve harvested is making its way off the roof and into the hands of New Yorkers—many at no cost. That’s our mission: to provide produce that’s meaningful, accessible, and representative of the diverse communities we serve. And our farmers work tirelessly to ensure that we show up for the 700 families who rely on us every week to provide fresh, nutritious food.

As we close out this season, we want to take a moment to acknowledge the dedication and heart that farmers pour into their work. Without them, we wouldn’t have the fresh, nutrient-dense produce that keeps our communities healthy and strong.
Thank you, farmers, near and far—your hard work is the backbone of everything we do. Here’s to rest, renewal, and another season of growth. 🌱
