What issue led you to the polls in the days and weeks behind us? Did you vote to protect the rights of an immigrant neighbor? A trans sibling? A planet in crisis? Your daughter, or mother, or sister? They still need us.

If the weight of yesterday’s consequence feels crushing, it means you still believe in something to save.

But who are we to tell you to clutch hope? Who are we to give you permission to grieve? We cannot validate your rage. You know your reason. You know your ethic. You hold your community close–that neighbor, your sibling, the women in your life, all of us sharing space on this beautiful, struggling planet. James Baldwin wrote “Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.”

What is moving you to face today? We’ve shared a link via our profile to a generous resource from Rebecca Solnit: a bonus chapter from her anthology, It’s Not too Late, titled What Can I Do About the Climate Emergency. Do you have a resource you can share in the comments below?

Ben shares a note about our new leadership, his new role, and his gratitude to our community–that’s YOU–in a message via our newsletter. We also link to the official announcement, where you can read up on Sam’s background.

Fall colors and soft morning light has us swooning these days. Almost as much as when a client agrees to leave seed heads in place over winter. 💛 Looks beautiful, good for the birds, good for the soul. 🍂🍁

🍂Fall Garden Tips From Our Pros!

With cooler weather due to arrive any day now, we thought it would be helpful to streamline your garden work by getting the lowdown from one of our expert Design/Build/Maintenance team members, Junior! He’s our Head of Horticulture & Maintenance here at Brooklyn Grange, and we it him up for a seasonal gardening tip for our community!

Q: Junior, if someone has a garden on their property, what should they be doing right now to prepare for winter?

A: “Very little! If you’re like our Brooklyn Grange garden clients, they like to see activity in the garden all year round. Keeping the plant material in place not only give us humans winter interest and something to look at long after the green has faded, but the dried seedheads, stalks, and stems provides habitat, food, and materials that wildlife can use. Fluffy plump chickdees will perch on stems, warming themselves in the morning sun; vibrant golden finches will be picking away, nourishing themselves at nutrient dense seeds, and cheery chirping cardinals will be calling back and forth to one another in their mate pairs.

And if you need some help, reach out! We can drain your irrigation system and water hoses, tidy any fallen leaves, and dig in some fall planted bulbs for an early spring flower show. You’ve worked the garden all season long, now it’s time to sit back and chill.”

A Flamingo On The Farm?

We couldn’t resist a little photoshop fun to bring you this delightful “sweet potato flamingo” 🦩Yep, that’s one funky sweet potato we grew (swipe to see her up close and personal post harvesting. Looks like a snake in the grass!). This sweet potato treat will be making an appearance in our CSA pickup this coming week. But you’re not a CSA member, you say?!? This year’s program is nearly over, but no worries. Go to our LinkInProfile to join our 2025 CSA waitlist so you don’t miss out next year.💚

We are still basking in the warm afterglow of our inaugural Farmily Meal dinner last week! What a way to herald the fall season and celebrate months of beautiful harvests from our fields. It was an inspiring gathering of food systems change-seekers, from farmers to bakers, brewers and winemakers, and of course, hospitality movers and shakers. The event was made possible by our longtime collaborators, the Australian boot brand , and will facilitate wider access to our sliding scale CSA program in 2025.

Some highlights: a stirring speech from Farmer Gareth with tributes to our fellow farmers and heroes, ; insanely cozy family style dishes from the low-key virtuosos at studded with gifts from CSA add-on partners .tabor.roasting and washed down with ; a stunning cake by our dear friends at (on Chef Gabriel’s own birthday, no less!); decor flourishes by the ever stylish , and not least of all, the crisp but lovely weather, which made our farm beam with pride and our events team sigh with relief in the most beautiful way. All captured by the artistry of .Isaac’s lens.

It could not have been more magical. Thanks for coming, fam 💚

We might be a little biased, but we think the perfect lunch is a farm-to-table menu on one of our rooftops. Even as the temps cool down, you can enjoy the indoor outdoor vibe at our Sunset Park location.

Forward this post to your HR team (or crew!) if you agree that your next off-site should be a picnic with us! 🧺

Who can identity this beaut?!

It’s Puntarelle! A rare and wonderful Roman chicory, and we’ll have it at our farmers market this Sunday in McGolrick Park, 9am-2pm.

Farmers Gareth & Hannah highly recommend making a cold salad with it called Puntarelle alla Romana: thinly sliced inner stems tossed in a dressing of olive oil, garlic and anchovies- simply amazing! 🤩
