What issue led you to the polls in the days and weeks behind us? Did you vote to protect the rights of an immigrant neighbor? A trans sibling? A planet in crisis? Your daughter, or mother, or sister? They still need us.
If the weight of yesterday’s consequence feels crushing, it means you still believe in something to save.
But who are we to tell you to clutch hope? Who are we to give you permission to grieve? We cannot validate your rage. You know your reason. You know your ethic. You hold your community close–that neighbor, your sibling, the women in your life, all of us sharing space on this beautiful, struggling planet. James Baldwin wrote “Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.”
