Four more orphaned raccoons in yesterday. Mom shot, kits discovered. The most labor intensive and the second most expensive to raise, these put us at over 50 raccoons so far. Maybe 60. I’m too busy to count…
If I could tell these innocent babies anything it would be that I am sorry for the way humans often harm them and we are here for them, every day, all day and night and they will leave the safety of our care when they are ready to “raccoon” and will go to live in a wild place where they are welcome.
My heart is broken every day it seems, and the only way I can help it mend is to release healthy animals that want to get as far away from myself and everyone else that they can. “
