My cousin Ella, who's a couple of years older than me, called me in a panic one day asking if I could babysit her toddler, Tyler. He's adorable, so of course, I said yes. I had no idea what I was getting into.

POOR WOMAN NURSES SICK GRANNY, INHERITS ONLY OLD COUCH AFTER SHE DIES

Tessa's will was very simple. She left the house to her daughter, Martha, including its contents, with a single exception: the old peach brocade couch that was in her parlor was for her granddaughter, Deborah.

Martha walked out of the lawyer's office with a smile on her face. "Oh Deborah," she said. "If you want that mangy couch you'd better come and get it by the end of the week. I'm putting the house on the market."

Deborah phoned a friend who owned a large truck to come help her take the couch home. It was a huge, heavy, and unwieldy piece of furniture, and it was more than a little tatty, but she cherished it.

It would remind her of her grandmother every day, so she placed it in her sitting room. She had started to clean it, lifting the big heavy cushions, when she felt something under the fabric.

I FLED AT NIGHT WITH MY CHILD TO GET AWAY FROM MY HUSBAND AND MOTHER-IN-LAW — WHAT THEY DID TO ME IN RETURN CHANGED MY WHOLE LIFE

I fled in the middle of the night with my child to escape my husband and mother-in-law. I could no longer endure their dependence! It was almost 2 AM. frantically packed everything, took my baby, and just ran away. I didn’t even get to change out of my house slippers and robe—I was in such a hurry. My son was crying in my arms, and tears were streaming down my face as I tried to wipe them away with my sleeve. It was dark and cold, but I kept running and running with my baby in my arms.

Fortunately, my parents lived in the neighboring district and were still awake. I was banging on their door with my fists and feet, gasping for breath.

My husband and I had been saving money since our wedding to buy our own place. I could hardly believe our dream had come true when we finally got the keys. We started the renovations right away. I was in charge of fixing up the place while my husband was busy at work.

One morning, the crew called me over to show me a strange door they found behind one of the walls. I was excited about the possibility of some extra space that the realtor didn't know about. But when I cracked the door open, my heart dropped into my stomach.

DURING OUR GENDER REVEAL PARTY, BLACK CONFETTI CAME OUT OF OUR POPPER – I WAS SHOCKED WHEN I FOUND OUT WHO DID IT AND WHAT IT MEANT

So there we were, my husband and I, gripping each other's hands with nervous smiles while 23 guests stood around us, phones out, ready to record the big reveal. You know how these things go — pop the confetti cannon, and if it's blue, it's a boy; pink, it's a girl.

POP! I opened my eyes, and instead of blue or pink, BLACK CONFETTI was floating down. It was kind of creepy, to be honest, especially after all the struggles we had to even get to this point.

"It's just a defective confetti cannon!" my husband tried to reassure me and everyone else.

"NO, IT'S NOT!" interrupted my niece, stepping forward. "I saw someone switch the confetti cannon 20 minutes ago when everyone was in the other room."

"WHO?" I asked, feeling a surge of anger.

I CAUGHT MY NEIGHBOR STEALING MY MAIL – IT ENDED UP IN A MUCH BIGGER DISASTER

So, I moved into my mom's old house after she passed away. I was dealing with all the routine stuff when something weird started happening—my mail kept disappearing. Like, not just once or twice, but constantly. At first, I thought it was the mailman screwing up, but it kept getting worse...

I started getting paranoid. Who the hell was taking my stuff? So, I set up a security camera. Days later, I finally caught the thief in action... Turns out, it was my freaking neighbor, Mr. Thompson! The old dude from across the street! There he was, swiping it all from my mailbox like it was his!

Seriously, who does that? I waited until the next time I saw him outside, then I walked right up to him, phone in hand with the video ready to play. The moment I called him out on it and showed him the footage, his face went pale. Caught red-handed!

But oh my God, it's not the worst! His reason turns out to be MUCH MORE TERRIFYING! Turns out, actually he is⬇

HOW TO CATCH SOMEONE LYING: ADVICE FROM MY PSYCHOTHERAPIST

So, during one of my sessions with my therapist, she let me in on a few tricks to catch someone lying.

Well, guess what? My husband was lying to me almost daily, and I started catching him red-handed — about his salary, about those business trips he supposedly took, and a bunch of other stuff.

"Can you hear me, Scarlett?" the officer asked.

The man by the window quickly turned around, his face filled with concern, but I still didn't recognize him. "SCARLETT, YOU'RE FINALLY AWAKE!" he said.

"Who are you?" I asked, my voice shaky.

"It's me, Ben. Your boyfriend," he replied, taking my hand. "The doctor said the head injury might cause memory gaps, but we'll get through this together."

"DO YOU REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE!?" the officer asked.

"Y-yes," I replied, but when he asked about the hospital, I shook my head.

The officer sighed. "A week ago, you reported a man following you, but we found no evidence. Two days ago, you called again, saying someone was chasing you. We believe you fell while escaping, hit your head, and the man fled. We found you unconscious."

"I WAS IN A COMA FOR TWO DAYS!?" I asked, shocked.

"Yes," he confirmed.

Anxiety gripped me. I didn't believe a single word. Something about Ben didn't feel right. What if he was lying about being my boyfriend? But the officer was acting strangely too. Who had really been following me?

MY IN-LAWS MADE ONLY MY KIDS SLEEP IN A SHED WHILE THE OTHER GRANDKIDS SLEPT INSIDE — THEIR REASON SHOCKED ME TO MY CORE.

So, my husband's family has this weird tradition of shipping the kids off to his mom's for summer vacation. When my twin girls hit six, my MIL invited them over.

I was already iffy about it because she's always been cold to my kids. She buys them j***y presents while splurging on the other grandkids. She didn't even hold them when they were babies and suddenly remembered them now that they're six.

My husband was thrilled about the invite, thinking we'd get some alone time. He wanted our girls to go, so I caved.

I called my girls that night to check in, and guess what? They told me their grandparents DUMPED THEM IN A SHED WITH HAY BEDS AND RATS while all the other kids stayed in the house!

I was FUMING. My husband was working late, so I jumped in the car and sped to my in-laws' house. When they opened the door, I WAS LEFT IN SHOCK because my MIL ⬇️

MY HUSBAND SENT ME AND OUR KIDS TO A HOSTEL AND BOOKED A LUXURY HOTEL FOR HIMSELF AND HIS MOM — HE REGRETTED IT THE NEXT MORNING.

We really wanted to get away from the city for a week – me, Steve, our kids, and Steve's mom. Steve's always bragging about how he knows the best spots, so I let him take the lead and handle all the travel stuff.

So, we get there, and Steve drops me and the kids at this super tiny hostel on the edge of town. And then he drops this bombshell: "MOM NEEDS HER COMFORT. She can't deal with the noise from the kids. I need to take care of her, so I'll be staying with her at the luxury adult-only hotel in town so she can relax. We'll catch up with you tomorrow."

Before I could even react, these two left, leaving me and the kids there. Then Steve even FaceTimed me to show off their lavish hotel and say how the “kids would LOVE the pool!” I was FUMING but played it cool to keep the kids calm. I got them settled and made a simple dinner.

But BELIEVE ME, karma INSTANTLY hit Steve really hard! The next day, my phone was blowing up with his calls because his ⬇️

She's been acting distant, shutting me out, and no longer sharing anything with me like she used to. The late-night phone calls, those hushed conversations behind closed doors, and the smell of cigarette smoke lingering in her room... it all made me feel like something was seriously wrong.

I couldn't shake the suspicion that Mia was up to something, so one day, when she wasn't home, I decided to snoop around her room. MY IN-LAWS KICKED ME AND MY NEWBORN OUT OF THE HOUSE — THEY REGRETTED IT SOON AFTER.

I live with my husband, our little baby, and my in-laws in the same house. Every single day, my in-laws have these huge, loud fights that just never end. Yesterday, while my baby was napping, I could hear them yelling downstairs even with our door shut.

During a brief moment of silence, I calmly said, "Hey, just so you know, the baby's sleeping," and then walked away. A few minutes later, I heard my FIL cursing my name, saying something about "my house" to my MIL.

Then he stormed up to me, still furious, and snapped, "Just so you know, you don't shush me in my own home. This is MY house. I gave my son the money to buy it, so you don't get to tell me what to do. If you think you're so smart, go live with your mom where it's comfy and quiet. Maybe when my son's back from his business trip, he'll think about letting you come back."

I was totally shocked and couldn't say a word. My FIL just stood there watching as I packed up my stuff and the baby's, and left for my mom's place. But here's the kicker: a couple of days later, the doorbell at my in-laws' house rang.
