Holiday time is here!
We stopped by at Union Square Holiday Market to take in the festive mood and busy stand with wonderful art gifts created by Estonian artist Kristiana Pärn.
Each piece starts with a bare wood panel, complete with random grain patterns and variations. This natural surface is then saturated with paint, both accentuating and obscuring these marks, in the process creating an atmosphere that is only partly my doing. Within, entire environments are created- trees, mountains, earth, light and air, as well as living creatures, both real and imagined. Often taking the form of the northern forests of her youth, these scenes are places of great play and whimsy, where woodland animals inhabit the waking and dreaming worlds.

Saturdays at the Holiday Market are pure magic! Before having my own booth at Union Square, I cherished the tradition of indulging in a giant gingerbread cookie, sipping on hot cocoa, and meandering through the holiday booths. 🍪 🍎 The festive vibes are irresistible! After exploring the artistry, I'd wander over to the farmers market for fresh apples, sauerkraut, and freshly baked bread. Let me know if you have got the same NYC Saturday routine! 🎄

Exciting news! Today, we’re setting up our holiday market booth in Union Square (NYC). Tomorrow, the doors open, and we welcome you from 11 am until 8 pm every day, Sundays until 7pm. (Closed on Thanksgiving Day). It’s my favorite holiday market in New York City, and this year marks my ten-year anniversary of being part of the market family. So glad to be back! #

Edible paintings. Sugar cookies are my favorite cookies in the world. With a little vanilla bean and touch of almond these marzipan flavored hearts are irresistible.
