The fame has gone to his tiny head. Since Biscuit's big debut on a few days ago, it's all "greenroom" this, and "where's my swag bag" that. It's almost as though he's forgotten he was just another unwanted puppy in a Tennessee shelter last week. Funny how those humble origins slip away so quickly for some of them. For most of them, actually — in all seriousness, their resilience is one of the most uplifting things about welcoming in a rescue. Even the toughest cases we've had bounce back and learn to trust again. With 9-week-olds like Biscuit, that process usually happens the second they land in their foster parent's arms. And this bold little stinker didn't miss a beat. Nothing rattles this challenge seeker for long. He's curious, smart, excited to explore, and impatient — he's ready to be a grownup so he can do all the fun stuff big dogs get to do. Biscuit will probably hit 45 to 50 lbs full grown, and he'll need an experienced family that will make sure he gets lots of training and exercise not just now but consistently throughout his life. He's a hound mix, and these guys tend to need plenty of mential stimulation plus at least 90 minutes of solid high octane exercise a day in addition to regular potty break type walks. His foster mom says: "Looking for a rambunctious four legged pal? Biscuit has a nose for adventure and the energy to pursue it. He'll leap over cardboard boxes to find his favorite toy and eagerly show off his puppy prowess in the playpen, no matter what size his playmates are. Biscuit is bright and food-motivated. He loves learning new tricks for treats and already knows sit, down, touch, and shake. He's also is starting to get the hang of his p*e pads, but still leaves his own little 'biscuits' behind sometimes. Incredibly playful, cuddly, and how can you deny his puppy-dog eyes and little snores, Biscuit will be the perfect companion for someone looking to add a feisty, fearless, curious adventurer to their family." A jaw dropping, innocent sweetie untoughened by reality. Callus free. Gives good cuddle. He’d be a lean, tea drinking, frisbee playing, poetry reading boy if he were a person. He’d like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches — publicly — even though they’re not manly. He’d take the morning off to help his mom get to a doctor’s appointment though — the kind of manly you actually want. Urian’s genuine energy and smiling eyes would bathe you in adoration. He’d live for every moment that makes your heart flutter. This 4-month-old hound mix is the under the radar kid down the street we all have a crush on — and his devotion to you only raises his stock in the eyes of all his obsessive fans. He’s loyal, loving, and ready for a lifetime of adventure. He’ll probably be around 55 lbs full grown, and he’s great with other dogs and a quick learner. He’ll need to join an active family ready to exercise his working breed genes mind and body. His foster mom says: “Urian is doing great. We take two to three 2-4 mile long walks everyday where we jog, play with sticks, catch a scent, and bird/squirrel watch. We say hi to dogs from a distance but play with the neighbor’s dogs almost everyday — they love Uri, and two of them are trained to visit nursing homes, so they are really quite amazing influences on a hyperactive puppy! Uri is a huge snuggler and sweetheart. He p**ps outside but is still mostly using the wee pads to p*e. He learned his name, sit, and we are working on paw. We’re also working on our leash training. Uri loves consistency on his walks, so we have our long walk route and our short walk route. Uri definitely needs an extremely active home long term! He also believes he weighs maybe 5-10lbs and constantly lays across my neck, haha it’s adorable, but he’s about 22lbs now and he’s heavy!” Interested in adopting? We're going for the low hanging fruit here — if Robert Redford were a dog... Need we say more? Maverick revs our engines. Mature, wavy rust colored mane, overflowing with gentle kindness, humble. This 7-year-old golden retriever mix is the essence of darling, dear, divine. He's a canine angel — pretty mellow, sweet to everyone, good with other dogs, and well mannered. He's an older boy for a big dog, so he'll need to join a home with a family ready for senior pooch care in the near future and eager to give him the stress free, love filled old dog days he deserves. We’d love to see him in the burbs with a yard and porch of his own. His foster dad, who's helped us out with many a pup in need, says: "All is well with Maverick! He is slowly settling in and getting used to things. Super friendly with everyone and fully house trained which is great! (A nice change from puppies haha). He is the definition of chill, so easy going that we haven’t even used the crate. It is pretty hard not to fall in love with him 🙂" Interested in adopting? We’re happy to report this old boy has some apps in the works, but take a chance. Submit an application at socialteesnyc.org or email your point person if you’ve already been approved! (Pic by )

Ready for game time? We’re going to be psychic in a second. Here’s how it goes — look at this dog’s face, let your gaze linger around her eyes and then glide up to the heart on her forehead. Now pause. What’s the first word that comes to mind? It’s “soulful” isn’t it. Notice how we didn’t end that last sentence with a question mark? That’s because it’s undeniable. Ginger emanates the word. This 3-year-old redtick coonhound is a hot flaky biscuit drenched in butter — unmitigated comfort. We rescued this gorgeous mama and her ten puppies (yeah, you read that right, yowza) a few weeks ago via our Tennessee partner, and everyone’s doing great up here. Her babies are up for adoption too, and they’re almost as good looking as she is. Ginger is 62 lbs of spotted artistry, and she’s got a temperament to match. She’s friendly, good with other dogs, well mannered, and patient. She’d do best in an active home and is ready to make your hound loving dreams come true. Her foster mom says: “Ginger is playful and enjoys chewing on her bully stick and wants to be around people. She‘s a total mush in the house. She loves to cuddle on any soft surface she can find and hang around the general vicinity of whoever is around. She really started becoming more playful — ie. chasing squeaky toys. Outside, she's nose to the ground on walks and likes to explore the park. She's friendly and curious about other dogs but hates big scary trucks or loud honks when walking on the street. She could probably use a little leash training as she pulls when she's on the scent of something but otherwise is all around well behaved. She's really a very sweet girl without an aggressive bone in her body.” Interested in adopting? Submit an application at socialteesnyc.org or email your point person if you’ve already been approved! It's stupid how cute this dog is. You can't even see his underbite or see his adorable wiggles in this photo, so unless/until you meet him, you can't possibly know. Elmo is a waterfall of tail wags that cascades into a pool of smiles and snuggles. This 5-month-old chi-poo (chihuahua/poodle) is divine. He's excited to explore, walks well on a leash, and gets a big kick out of making new friends — humans, dogs, even cats! He's working on his housebreaking skills and is doing wonderfully. He's sweet with gentle children, and he's super into his toys. He's around 12 lbs now and will probably be 16 lbs full grown, but don't let the diminutive stature fool you — Elmo is all dog and needs solid training, boundaries, exercise, and socialization to help him keep growing toward that amazing dog we can already see him becoming. His foster mom says: "Elmo is great! He loves slippers and socks, but he loves a good smoke dog bone too. He's very friendly and quite the ladies man. He sleeps well at night and is not much of a barker. Elmo loves sleeping and sitting next to us on the couch. We go for walks three to four times a day, and he is picky about choosing a spot to go, so best for someone who doesn’t mind a 15 minute walk. He does not like to be rushed! LOL!" Something very little made a great big impression on our team this morning, and his name is Ken. One of a whopping 25 new arrivals from TN a few hours ago, this 8-week-old beagle mix baby had us in a crumbly pile of mush and baby talk the minute we met him. He’s insanely sweet, like a cookie with a face and paws. He’s such a smarty pants, like Albert Einstein with a wagging tail. He’s the most curious and playful, like a kitten but a puppy. We got it bad for Ken. This little chunk of amazing will probably be 25 lbs or so full grown, he’s well socialized so far, and he’ll need to join a forever home where his active, growing mind and body will get lots of exercise and training. Dying to see more of this guy? Head on over to , the two doggies serving as his big foster brothers. Interested in adopting? Let yourself fall for it. Yeah, he’s working you with those syrupy eyes, but what’s the worst that could happen? Let your guard down, have a new year new you moment where you toss inhibition to the wind, and just let the experience overtake you. Don’t worry, our strict ass application process will make sure you’re not being too impulsive. We vote go for it. Dudes like this 6-month-old Aussie mix don’t come around every day. Leon is classically charming, good natured, and balanced. He’s handsome, happy, and friendly with every human and animal he encounters, the one you can’t wait to smugly introduce to your friends. He’ll probably be in the 50s weight wise full grown and needs an active home to keep him fit — mind, body, soul. His foster mom, who’s a first timer with us and admits he’s set the bar almost unapproachably high for future foster dogs, says: “If you’re looking for a companion who will snuggle up to you on the couch and nap, look no further than this handsome boy, Leon. This precious little bean is all love and affection wrapped up in a goofy personality. He’s working really hard on his potty training and building up the courage to explore busy areas outside, but he’ll happily flop around like he has no bones anywhere there is carpet, and he is content just chewing on his bone. This pup is very patient and eager to please, and he is very smart, with limitless amounts of love to give. Leon took to crate training immediately and will sometimes put himself in his crate for alone time. He really loves Kacey Musgraves’ version of All is Found from Frozen 2 and dozes off to soft acoustic music.” Interested in adopting? Ike’s cuteness cup runneth over. Don’t have to work this curly tailed munchkin too hard, he sells himself. Ten weeks old, speckled toe socks, ready to pledge his life and loyalty, lay his soul and tiny head at your feet. This heeler mix will be your heart and eagerly give you his. He’s bouncy, social, curious, and hot to trot. He’ll probably be 40-something lbs full grown, and he’ll need an active home where he’ll get plenty of training and exercise. His foster mom says: “Ike is very much a puppy and his energy level is pretty high when he is awake. He likes to run in the apartment a bit. Overall, he's a really good puppy and doesn't do much wrong. He is in the teething stage, so he does chew a bit. We're finding the chew toys are working. He doesn't love loud noises, he does love people — male and female. He wants everyone that passes to play with him. I brought him to work (office of 40 people) one day already, and he isn't skittish at all. He loves to sleep on your lap but also is okay crated at night outside of the bedroom. He has a really great temperament, he's sweet, loves attention, to play and listens well. Ike is doing extremely well with potty training, he will really only p**p outside, and he'll make it know when he needs to go. He's getting better with p*eing outside but will p*e on a pad inside.” Interested in adopting? Submit an application at socialteesnyc.org or email your point person if you’ve already been approved!

Athletic, handsome, virile. Majestic, even. And a fast learner. Thorne’s been acing his lessons on how to be the best hound ever with his foster mom pro dog trainer . Previously all over the place, he’s now just a high drive pooch who’s always ready to do a job and eager for a strong leader. This Treeing Walker Coonhound is about a year old, 50 lbs, and very social. He'd be happiest in a high active home ideally out of the city where he‘ll get lots of physical stimulation and training reinforcement. He even knows how to walk on a treadmill! His foster mom says: "If I had to sum Thorne up in one sentence, I'd say he's a sweet, enthusiastic, charming goofball who loves cuddles and walks and will do anything for treats. If it didn't make me happy watching this guy's tail wag with excitement as we wander the streets, I'd be dead inside. His enthusiasm for meeting people and dogs is infectious, and the admiration he receives from by-passing pedestrians will make you feel proud to have him by your side. This guy loves life and lives it to the fullest. He's doing great with his training and fitting into NYC living. He knows sit, down, play bow, touch/come, stay. He sits politely at street intersections, waits for you to place his food and water down, sleeps soundly in his crate overnight, and is signaling when he needs to go outside for the toilet. If cool tricks are your thing, this guy has potential. He'll need an adult only home (kids are scary!) willing to continue putting time into his training, provide plenty of exercise and the right type of outlets for his energy like chew toys etc. You'll be rewarded with an amazing companion and plenty of entertainment." If we had to name the color of Union’s fur, we’d go with something like Enchanted Midnight or Distant Galaxy. Plain old black doesn’t seem to be doing it for him. Personally, we’re big fans of his rich, alluring hue, but it’s not doing him any favors. If Union were any other color, he’d have been adopted 8 times over by now. He’s divine. But he’s overlooked — Google black dog syndrome, you’ll see what it’s about. Meanwhile, this 7-month-old lab/shepherd mix is incredibly well mannered, has a phenomenal temperament, walks perfectly on a leash, is great with other dogs, and is housebroken and well mannered. He’s got an adorable stumpy tail that you can’t see here, but take our word for it, it’s quite cute when wagging. He’ll probably be 50 ish lbs full grown and needs to join an active home. His foster dad says: "Union is the perfect little lab. Graciously social and wiggly with new people. Active and energetic around new dogs. He loves his bones, chasing tennis balls, and playing keep-away with other dogs. He's housebroken (not a single accident here), and not the quickest, but an eager learner who always sits for his treats and food. He's on the tail end of teething and might try and take your shoes if you leave him alone so just puppy-proof things like that, and enjoy your new best friend!” Interested in adopting? “I just want to fall in love over a thousand slices of pizza, is that too much to ask?” Bart didn’t say that because he doesn’t speak English. We saw it recently on a dating app profile and in that moment actually thought, “If Bart could do his own PR, this would be it.” Simple and concise. Cutesy without being annoying. Creatively pushes the emotion buttons all single people apparently have: romance and pizza. Bart is a master. This energetic 13-year-old is young at heart and constantly evolving. He retains his unique charm as he’s moved from one coast to the other, foster home to foster home, but he adapts enough to show you he cares about your needs and wants your lives to mesh smoothly. He’s outgoing, spunky, great on walks, playful, and cuddly. This 12 pounder is great with other dogs, and he’d do best in a medium active home with a family that's ready for senior dog care as he continues to age. His foster mom says: "He may be from Cali, but Bart is 100% NYC now. Forget Tupac, he likes Biggie Smalls. Forget tacos, he is a pizza guy. He is embracing his East coast life. Bart walks unfazed and easily on a leash through the city streets. He is instantly friendly to dogs and people alike. He probably loves it here so much because of the smells! He loves to sniff just about anything, he is a curious guy which you can tell from the almost question mark shape of his tail. But for all his energy (no one believes he is a senior) he is a big cuddler. He will lay in his bed during the day while I work, but his favorite place is curling up on my lap. He looks forward to our nightly couch cuddle while we watch some Kardashians. (He is Khloe fan.) Also don’t let the Chihuahua stigma scare you, Bart is a very quiet dog. Barking has never been an issue with Bart. He also sleeps through the night in his bed without issue. He is a smart dog and quickly picking up house breaking.” Interested in adopting? You can’t buy happiness, but you can adopt it — and that’s not basically the same thing, it’s way the hell better. This 3-year-old Rat Terrier mix is bliss embodied. He’s excitement, optimism, a hot air balloon with a basket full of rainbows drifting pleasantly over Jubilation Jungle. He’s pleased as punch to make friends with everyone he meets, he’s super treat motivated and eager to follow direction, and he's bouncy. Beech is about 14 lbs and way up there on the smart chart. He’s housebroken, amazing with other dogs, and would do best in an active home — he should ideally be with another pup, in fact, because he doesn’t like being left alone. Or he’ll need a family ready to do some separation anxiety training. His foster mom says: "Beech is an energetic sweetheart who can rough and tumble with pups and kids alike. Always happy with a toy in his teeth — and is the king of playing fetch and will keep bringing the ball or toy right back to you every time. He is happy and joyous at play but also a sweet calm boy who snuggles up on your lap whenever the opportunity arises. He may even wiggle under the blanket in your lap on a rainy day or cold cozy night on the couch.“ Interested in adopting? Unapologetically devoted, desperate to learn and do things together is a near constant state of affairs, never more at peace with the world than when snuggling as one — that’s you, not the dog. “I’m smitten,” you’ll catch yourself whispering to him, wondering who you even are now. This 1-year-old Jackabee (Jack Russell/Beagle) is is the center of your world from here on out. It starts here with digital eye contact, it will go down as the best love story you’ve ever told. Burrell is about 20 lbs and nonstop charming, nonstop being the operative word here. He's a go-for-miles kind of guy and is happiest with days full of exercise. Burrell is friendly with everyone he meets and other dogs, he's always down for a game or a walk, and he's head-of-the-class smart. He sits for treats like a champ and learns faster than a cheetah can run, so he’s an awesome candidate for training. The only thing he doesn't really like is being left alone, so he'd do best ideally in an experienced high activity level home with another dog and/or someone ready to do a bit of separation anxiety training. Burrell's foster mom says: "Another day, another adventure with Burrell, who I've been calling Buddy. He could go on a 2 hour walk and still be ready for action. He is very friendly, cuddly, and active — the sweetest li'l bachelor you'll ever meet! He’s p*e pad trained, and learns quickly. He’s also friendly with other dogs and young kids, my cousins loved him." Interested in adopting? Be still our hearts! Actually, you know what? Forget that — whoever said it must not have felt what we did when we met this little minx. That guy was neither full of heat nor an emotional risk taker. He (or she? whatever) didn't like — nay, need — the taste of fire the way we do. Let our hearts run endlessly like the wild stallions that pretty much no longer exist because we've either tamed or land managed them all. We're going to freefall into this obsession in 3, 2, 1... Cortina. Has a more provocative name ever graced your ears? She inspires insanity, so while yeah, we definitely encourage you to charge into this one, we also suggest you do so with one hand on the reality railing. This 6-month-old Minpin mix is about to take you on a dizzying journey better than whatever psychedelics your Burning Man friends swear by. Cortina is an other worldly experience — her sweetness will intoxicate you. She's a little timid, but it makes her extra enthusiastic about PDAs. Don't get us wrong, she walks well on a leash and is a cupcake about meeting new people, but in busy places she'll do a little lean against your leg and is happy to pop in your lap and get wrapped up by your coat. Cortina is good with other dogs, polite and well behaved, and really stinking smart. She knows how to sit for treats and is highly food motivated, which makes her an excellent training candidate. She's about 13 lbs now and will probably top out around 18 lbs or so, and she'd do best in a medium active to active home with someone who's around most of the day and can help boost her confidence and get her comfy being left alone. Since she's still a puppy, and doesn't super love me time. Interested in adopting? Submit an application at socialteesnyc.org or email your point person if you’ve already been approved!
