Eden’s Story
November 8th, 2018 was probably the saddest, most devastating day of my life, when my beloved “Eden” succumbed to complications from bloat/gastric torsion. I’ve owned many dogs throughout my life, growing up in a family that showed and bred dogs even. No dog has stolen my heart as completely as Eden had, and to lose her at not even 5 years of age left me paralyzed with grief. Nights have been the hardest, and because I couldn’t sleep, I baked. And I just kept on baking. I had started baking cookies for my dogs the previous year, just for kicks. But the dogs loved them and I felt better about giving my dogs treats that were sourced from human-grade ingredients. As my baking “therapy” consumed me, however, I soon realized that I am making more cookies than my own dogs can enjoy (and still maintain their fit weights!) Therefore, I have decided to make Eden’s Treats available to local folks and to friends. It’s a time-consuming process, to be sure, with each cookie being rolled and cut individually by hand. The cookies are baked for quite a long time as well, and then oven dried at a lower temp to prevent any spoilage. I’ve been making everything from big bones, to tiny little hearts (they take forever to cut out, but boy are they cute!) My favorite, however, are the butterflies. Eden was obsessed with butterflies and each and every time I cut out a butterfly cookie, I feel like I’m releasing a just a tiny bit of my grief. I know your dogs will enjoy these cookies every bit as much as Eden did. Kristin
