Introducing The ARK at JFK: The world’s first privately owned 24/7 animal airport terminal, quarantine and full-service transportation center for the import and export of animals of all sizes and types at JFK International Airport. The ARK was developed by ARK Development, LLC, a Racebrook Portfolio Company. Facility Services:

- The full-service center offers in-transit companion animal care and

handling, in-transit avian and small-mammal handling, equine export, and equine import quarantine. Pets, horses, birds and exotic animals are transported from aircraft, terminals, cargo facilities and other airport locations, to be cared for by ARK animal care and veterinary staff. ARK Pet Oasis: The first facility of its kind in North America, Pet Oasis is a central resource available to all airlines, pet shippers and pet parents 24/7, it services the needs and promotes the welfare of all pets traveling as live animal cargo or excess baggage. Pet Shipping services are also available for companions traveling domestically or internationally. ARK Equine Export and Livestock Center: A USDA-approved equine inspection facility for horses to "rest" pre-departure, with (23) individual 12' x 12' stalls. ARK Equine Quarantine: USDA-approved facility offering 3-day and 7-day quarantine of imported horses, with (48) individual 12' x 12' stalls

ARK In-Transit Bird and Small-Mammal Shipments: USDA approved rest area for in-transit commercial or personal bird shipments as well as small mammals.

Traveling with pets? ✈️ Here’s what you need to know about the three main ways pets can fly! ⭐️ In-Cabin: Your pet travels with you in the passenger area, snug in a carrier that fits under your seat. Ideal for small pets within airline size/weight limits. ⭐️ Excess Baggage: Larger pets can travel in the aircraft’s cargo hold, checked in alongside your luggage. Horses ready for travel! ✈️ Their jet stalls, prepped with water, hay, and shavings, are weighed and inspected before takeoff. Our experienced team ensures everything is set for a safe, comfortable journey!

Choosing the right travel crate is key to a safe journey for your dog! 🐶 Your pet’s crate must follow IATA guidelines and be made from sturdy materials like metal, wood, or rigid plastic. 🐾 Travel crates made of rigid plastic are the most common we see at The ARK. There are several IATA-approved crates made of this material that come in various sizes. Some models also offer a height extender to be added on for taller dogs. Wooden crates can be custom built for larger dogs and are another great option. Make sure that your airline of choice accepts wooden crates, there are a few that do not including KLM and Air France. Crates made of metal are a good option if you plan to travel frequently and would like to invest in a crate. *Note that soft collapsible crates, wire crates, and crates with wheels do not meet IATA requirements and will not be accepted by airlines. Always double-check the specific regulations of your airline! At The ARK, we offer airline compliant travel crates and are here to help you find the perfect size and style for your pet's travel needs.
