Hiding the “scary” stuff from your dog will only make them more scared when they do encounter the “scary” things. 😱

Start with small doses and incrementally expose your pup to those noises, sights, and objects that are “scary”. Be sure to remain calm and confident when your dog looks to you for guidance. This will help desensitize your dog to their fears. 🐶

Just like building muscle or mastering a new skill, socializing your dog takes time and consistent effort. One group walk or playdate won’t make your pup well-socialized. It would be nice if it worked that way, but unfortunately it doesn’t. ⚠️

Having a well-socialized dog requires patience, repetition, and a dedicated effort to make it a lifelong habit for your pup. Don’t give up on the process, keep exposing your dog to new sights, sounds, people, and dogs. Remember, it’s not a one-time event, it’s a lifelong pursuit to have a well-adjusted, confident companion. 🐶✅

Let’s normalize Introversion in dogs! ✅🐶

When you’re at a large social gathering, it’s common to socialize with certain people, avoid others, and not even interact with the rest. This does not imply that something is wrong with you. 😉

The same goes for dogs. Your dog is not going to get excited to greet every person or every other dog that he encounters. And this is normal and okay. If your pup doesn’t want to say hello, let’s respect that and not pressure them to “say hi”. 🐾🐕🐩
