Meet Peaches! 🍑
Peaches is a 3 year old rescue shih tzu from . We met for her first lesson to set up a crate training/house training routine and to help this gal feel more comfortable on walks in busy downtown Brooklyn. It’s so important to allow your dog, especially a new dog-some time to sniff on walks amidst all the chaos of the city. Keeping their world small (short, frequent walks) in the beginning can help them decompress and adjust to their new life with you.

On a chihuahua streak here, with Beatrix! Lil Beatrix can be spicy on the streets and we are helping her overcome her leash reactivity, while also giving her some predictable routines in the home.

Meet Badass pup, Watcher! He is a melt in your lap kinda guy, and his dad needed some help with getting Watcher comfortable on walks. We discussed structure in the home, the importance of playtime and then played some attention games. Watcher is off to a great start!

Here’s Frankie, the miniature 🐩 practicing targeting. Frankie resource guards the sofa and bed, so we are first teaching her a hand target, and then we’ll put to a verbal cue. When she jumps on the cushion, we praise her, and then as she jumps off to target her mom’s hand, she gets a food reward.

Lewk at those eyelashes!! Meet Hubble, a 6 month old bernedoodle. Hubble is an irresistible pup, which can get him into trouble, especially now that he is entering his adolescent phase and is much bigger. We are working on jumping, counter surfing, overall impulse control and leash walking/manners. Can’t wait to see his progress!

Tis the season again!
💥 4th of July firework tips 💥

🧨exercise your pup before the festivities start-walks, swimming, flirt pole, training games
🧨prep meals and snacks using food puzzles-stuffed and frozen kongs, lickimats, bones etc
🧨keep your pups tags on indoors and make sure all ID’s are up to date
🧨if your pup is fearful, keep them inside, in an interior room with carpeting if possible. Turn the lights on and a fan or white noise/radio/tv
🧨ask your vet about anti-anxiety medication

Here is sweet Moses, an 8 year old rescue Rottweiler who struggles with leash reactivity. After learning about marker words and how we can use them on the walk, we introduced Moses to lead and he took to it right away. Bonus-I got to meet Moses’ new little brother, 9 week old Ari 🥹😍

Had a continuing training lesson with Roux of . We conditioned her to leash so that her parents can better help her in making the right choices while out on walks. Roux loves 🐦 and other 🐕, so we worked on leash communication and creating distance from triggers; and rewarding check ins and engagement. She also learned a default leave it. So nice to see Miss Roux!

Meet lil hound Vivian, formerly known as Apple Pie, and just adopted from 😀😀
Yesterday we practiced loose leash walking. We added a cue “to sniff!” to give her permission to check out all the fun scents along the way, along with continuing to reward check ins and attention to name. 🙌🙌

Meet Neely! This cute 8 month old Boston Terrier has reached her adolescence. 😈 Just like their human counterparts, dogs can exhibit some challenges during this time, especially if they have not had a solid foundation in training. Neely is working on her impulse control-jumping, stealing toys from the kids -and brushing up on manners.

Potion is a daily walk client of ours and just moved into a new building. There is so much activity going on daily, he’s taken to barking at small noises in the hallway, and especially gets excited when he knows a dogwalker is coming. He’s already got some training under his belt, so we were able to progress more quickly, learning to target a mat and bring down his arousal by practicing relaxation. Then we worked on triggers like opening the door and having someone knocking at the door. Posheee did great!

Curry recently had a bad experience getting ear drops and my fault for not working on it. Of course he now is starting to show signs of another infection and ran away from the sight of the bottle yesterday 😭, so on this rainy day, we spent some time getting him comfortable with it again. This is going to be a slooooow process, but better than restraint! It helped that he already knows “Place”, “Touch” and can exhibit self control around food 😆😆
