Naultinus elegans or the New Zealand green gecko.
Pinch me I must be dreaming. Never would I have thought these amazing animals would be in my care. One of the most sought after and elusive geckos in the world, this species is such a joy to have. Endemic to New Zealand, these are a live bearing species that gives birth to one or two babies a year.
Check out that black tongue!

The psychedelic rock gecko (Cnemaspis psychedelica) is often considered one of the rarest and most visually striking geckos in the world. Endemic to just a few small islands off the coast of Vietnam, this species is known for its vibrant coloration—a mix of bright orange, yellow, and black, with electric blue/purple body. Its rarity is due to its extremely limited range, and habitat destruction, making conservation efforts crucial for its survival.

For the first time, this elusive species will be on public display at , marking a significant moment for reptile enthusiasts and conservationists alike. The gallery’s exhibition not only showcases the stunning beauty of Cnemaspis psychedelica but also aims to raise awareness about the threats facing this gecko and other endangered reptiles.

Ethical captive breeding, when done responsibly, can help safeguard species like C. psychedelica from extinction while allowing for educational outreach and future reintroduction initiatives.
By featuring this gecko at The Gecko Gallery NYC, conservationists hope to inspire visitors to support habitat protection and responsible wildlife trade practices. This event serves as a reminder that while the psychedelic rock gecko is a marvel of nature, its future depends on human action and awareness.

To continue with the seldom seen New Caledonian species, heres Bavayia robusta!
As you can tell by their Latin name, yes they’re robust! They’re the LARGEST species in the genus Bavayia. With some of my males reaching close to 35-40 grams. These guys look similar to mainland chahoua when they’re that large! I’ll post a picture of some of my adults for size comparison soon! I am also working with het albinos

The next New Caledonian species I’ll be highlighting is one of my absolute favorites.
Dierogekko nehoueensis, a critically endangered species discovered in 2006. Also from the mainland of Grand Terre. There’s two distinct phenotypes, striped and spotted, both equally as beautiful!
Which do you prefer?
