Christmas wreaths available this week! 🌲
Here we are at week 8,a time we dread because it’s time to find homes for the three girls that aren’t spoken for. We wish we could keep them all,it’s just getting to be fun as their personalities start to show. In the video are Pinky (collar color) and Curly girl with the curliest tail and coat of this litter and the third girl looks just like Pinky but a little larger. Pinky looks like the smallest of the group and has stolen my heart already! She is so sweet and spunky This litter of puppies are so smart and learn so quickly, they immediately started using the wood shavings in their box as soon as they were exposed to it. Now they spend their days on our back deck and all use an old dirt area to do their business. The poodle/lab combination makes a great dog, many people tell us they are the best dog they’ve ever had, although, just like people, everyone is different. Meanwhile,I go in to get my back fixed in a couple days and Karen will have her hands full for a while. We’re trying to prepare for all the eventualities and are about as ready as we can be,most of the loose ends are tied up and ready for winter. We’re still putting some flowers in the Fredonia farm store, the killing freeze hasn’t happened yet, enjoy the nice weather while it’s here, the grey skies of Ohio seem inevitable, yet it seems like that’s changing.
Charm gets wild and wooly with the puppies.! She’s been extra spunky since the puppies have become something to play with,I’m expecting her to go into heat soon. Meanwhile, back surgery that was moved back has now been moved up(?) to this coming week. On another note this warm weather isn’t doing much to send plants into dormancy, specifically evergreen trees that we use for wreaths. New growth needs to stop and the plants need to go into their “winter protection mode”that will help protect them from the desiccating conditions of winter. We can simulate some of that by using products like Wiltpruff that will seal in moisture but it’s better to have greens that are ready. Once again we’re praying for rain,we got a little yesterday but hopefully things will normalize. Everyday I look out at the stunning blue sky and can’t believe it’s Ohio!! The solar panels love it,this is their 15th yr,the yr they paid for themselves. They are warranted for 25yrs and their lifespan is estimated around 50 yrs. Just some real numbers with no disinformation which is rampant, mostly from fossil fuel interests. Well back to watching puppies !
Sunday morning puppies! We have to share because they grow up way too fast!
