Rutgers VETS

Rutgers VETS Rutgers VETS is a certification program that trains Veterans in sustainable landscaping, horticulture, and entrepreneurship.

Rutgers Veteran Environmental Training and Solutions (V.E.T.S) is a 10-month, 40-hours a week, intensive certification program, which trains Veterans in Sustainable Landscaping, Horticulture, and Entrepreneurship. Participants receive a paid educational stipend, over 1,000 hours of classroom instruction from Rutgers faculty and staff, along with supplemental hands on training, field trips, and net

working with local industry leaders. Using our on site greenhouse, Veterans have the opportunity to get hands on training in our aquaponics systems. Aquaponics is the combination of raising fish (aquaculture), with the production of food in soil-less media (hydroponics). We raise striped bass as part of 'Fish Exchange Program' that offers fresh, clean fish, in exchange for fish caught in the Passaic River. In conjunction with this, we grow vegetables for the community and donate them to local food banks.
