Oakhurst Thoroughbreds Racing Fan Club is ALL-IN on this one for our thoroughbred racing!

RAGING TIGER is producing flashy & athletic, forward but willing, well balanced and muscled offspring - First foals have been broke and are coming two-year-olds. He's got all the DNA and pedigree to be arguably considered the best value on the West Coast!

This is likely the last year of the special introductory stud fee - we want your help getting babies on the ground - he will likely be going up 50%+ in 2026.

🔥 PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT 🔥

Don't believe what you see and hear on TV 📺

Regardless of what RIP and Yellowstone tell you, we DO NOT recommend giving Banamine (Flunixin) via Intramuscular (IM) administration. 💉

There is a very real risk of abscess formation at the injection site that can be severe and life-threatening.

What else can you do if you are not comfortable with IV shots? Liquid Banamine can be given safely via oral administration.

And pushing that much Dexamethasone?! Don't even get us started . . .that's another post for another day.

How cool is this?! In today's episode of "Where in the World" meets "It's Small Horse World" . . . Meet "Birdie" - The mare in the middle!

Birdie's mom (shire) was bred to GIACOMO (thoroughbred) at Oakhurst Equine Veterinary Services, then she was foaled, raised, and prepped by her owner - who sold her to the great State of Texas - shown here, patrolling the grounds of the State Capitol!

Looking good Birdie - Way to represent Giacomo, 2005 Kentucky Derby Winner, in a whole new light!

***If you have stories you would like to share about foals by Giacomo, Grindstone, or other Oakhurst Thoroughbreds Racing Fan Club bred, trained or raised horses, or bred, rehabbed or treated by Oakhurst Equine Veterinary Services, please send to [email protected]!

TODAY'S DEMONSTRATION OF "DONKEYS BEING DONKEYS"

No good deed shall go unpunished. "Barley" decided to get a little too up-close and personal with his slow feeder ball . . . and he became one with it!

Barley is a sweetheart of a 2yo miniature donkey, however, was slightly uncooperative for his owner after the early morning mishap. With the help of sedation, and some handy tool-work, Barley was back on the run, unburdened once more! Okay, it was more like a slow saunter over to breakfast!

Thank you to his owners for allowing Oakhurst to assist, and Dr. Magorian for being the ultimate Donkey whisperer. ❤

We have gotten numerous requests for Giacomo mares and have not had any to offer recently . . .until now. Selling for a client ~

Daniel The Dreamer✨
2017 16hh+ Bay Thoroughbred Mare
GIACOMO 🌹 x Angels Can Be Wild (by Wild And Wicked)

"Dani" is a multiple winner who was last raced in 2022 with LTE of nearly $50,000, finishing in the top-three 16/25! She is easy to be around and is showing incredible potential as a saddle horse in VERY limited recent rides ~ would not recommend as a turn-key beginner horse, but with some training feel she will check a lot of boxes for riders of multiple skillsets. Dani has successfully foaled, but sadly lost that one as youngster to no fault of hers or his.

Please call (503)554-0227 or email [email protected] for more information or to set up an appointment to come out and meet her! Comments made to posts are difficult to keep up with so please call or email us instead! Pre-purchase available at buyers expense.

TODAY'S DEMONSTRATION OF "HORSES BEING HORSES"

Horse was noticed to be possibly choking a couple of days ago. Seemingly cleared but again more recently presented with excessive saliva and some minor blood from the left side of the mouth.

Upon Exam at Oakhurst Equine, teeth had some sharp points, however, was determined to not be the cause of the bleeding. With sedation and the speculum in place, Dr. Parker viewed what looked to be part of thick stemmy hay or straw towards the back of the mouth. When the foreign body was actually extracted, it was part of a berry branch, with thorns, about several inches long!

Owners said there are blackberry bushes on one side of her horse's paddock, so she will move her horse to another area until the blackberries are cleared!

Thanks to an Owner for taking action when she noticed a problem, and shout out to Dr. Parker and Assistant Riley E for making the Patient feel so much better!
