Should a cat be given milk to drink? Most cats enjoy drinking milk but it is not necessarily heathly for them. The lactase activity in a cat's intestine declines with age and with it the capacity to digest lactose. If the amount of lactose injested by a cat surpasses it's capacity to digest it the remaining lactose will ferment in the gastrointestinal tract leading to clinical signs such as vomiting and diarrhea. Another thing to consider is cats can be allergic to casein. A small amount of milk in moderation is acceptable for most cats but excessive amounts can be detrimental in the long term. 🐈‍⬛

Animal Vet Clinic does not recommend raw food as a substitute diet for your dogs or cats, with the recent outbreaks of bird flu we recommend extreme caution. A second brand of raw pet food sold in farmers markets in California has been found to contain bird flu. Make an appointment today to discuss a nutrition plan for your pet.

Another brand of raw pet food has been found to contain bird flu and has made at least five house cats presumably sick with the virus, health officials say.

Today we're celebrating the longest day of the year with the longest dog breed, the dachshund! The dachshund was bred to scent, chase, and flush out badgers and other burrow-dwelling animals. The miniature dachshund was bred to hunt small animals such as rabbits.
