Yesterday, we had an interesting case come into our clinic: a bot fly removal! Dr. Yu successfully extracted the bot fly, and we captured the process on video to share with you all.
🪰 What is a Bot Fly? Bot flies are insects whose larvae can cause uncomfortable and potentially serious infestations in pets. These pests can burrow into the skin, causing pain and irritation.
📹 Check out the video below to see the removal process. It's a great reminder of why regular check-ups and prompt attention to unusual lumps or bumps are so important for our furry friends.

🐾 On Monday, Dr. Yu did an amazing job removing a foreign object from a 2-year-old pit bull. The poor pup was having tummy troubles, but thanks to some radiographs, it was discovered that she had an obstruction! With the help of a surgical laser, we successfully removed a mini pool ball 🎱. This pup’s surgery went well and is on the road to recovery! 🎉🐶
Check out this video of a dental prophylaxis that we did in clinic this week! This guy had a lot of of plaque and tartar build up!
Your pet's adorable mouth acts as a gateway of sorts to the rest of their body! Any infection there can actually invade the bloodstream and infect the heart, lungs, brain, and/or kidneys, sometimes causing fatal damage.
Dental disease is the most common major health problem of cats and dogs. Without frequent brushing at home and regular professional cleanings by a veterinarian, most dogs and cats will show signs of oral disease by the time they're three years old. Signs of disease are listed in the pictures attached to this post!
We recently upgraded to the newest version of our surgical laser and Dr. Yu says he loves it! The Aesculight VS-4530 CO2 laser system is used for incision, excision, vaporization, ablation, and coagulation of soft tissue.
Below we have attached a video of Dr. Yu using our laser while doing a routine no-gauze spay on a 17 week old Yorkie. 🐶❤
Here is our annual fire drill training!
Obviously, if there was an actual fire we would be hustling and getting everything gathered very quickly!
Also, isn’t it a little ironic that our clinics meeting place is the “No Pets On Grass” sign 😉❤️🐶🐱
Warning : Graphic Content! Here’s a quick compiled video of Dr. Yu doing a Tail Amputation with our surgical laser! Enjoy 🤗

Small mass removal
Today we had a sweet elder boy in our care. He is 10 years old and developed a small mass on the back just above the tail. Our team worked together to remove this mass to send off to Purdue University's Indiana Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratories. In about 2 weeks the owner should have results for the mass we have sent off. As you can see in the video Dr Yu used our Aesculight laser machine which cauterizes the incision as the surgery goes on. Dr Yu will be heading out of state this Friday to learn more about the Aesculight laser machine in order to bring back more knowledge to use when in operations on your furry friends. As a reminder we will be closing at 12:00 this Friday March 22, 2019 so that Doctor Yu is able to further his education.
WARNING GRAPHIC CONTENT! This is a 1 and 1/2 year old female patient undergoing a spay using our surgical laser. She also had an umbilical hernia that was removed!
One of our receptionists just discovered that Mylo likes to play fetch! Enjoy this cute video ❤️❤️😂
