Today was truly special.
I had the incredible honor of officially coming on as an ICU nurse with Kitten Central of Northern California – Placer County, a place that has been saving the tiniest, most fragile lives for years. This isn’t a rescue—this is a medical center where kittens from 0 to 28 days old receive the critical care they need to survive. We stabilize them, get them through the toughest moments, and give them the chance to grow strong.
I’ve admired Penny, the founder and CEO, for a long time. She built Kitten Central from the ground up with an unwavering mission to fight for these little ones, and her dedication is truly inspiring. I’m also beyond grateful for Tina, my mentor, who has guided me through so much over the years and has wanted me to join Kitten Central for some time. It’s an honor to finally be working alongside her and so many other incredible people.
Today, I had the privilege of assisting the RVT with intake as a vet tech it was such an amazing experience. And to top it all off, my sweet Babynilla got her very first check-up!
I’m so thankful to be part of this life-saving work, surrounded by a team that pours their hearts into every tiny life we touch. This is where I give my heart starts tiny innocent voiceless babys. ❤️🐾

We are about 5-10 days away from the newborns, and when they come, they come all at once. We are looking to stock up on food right now. I have been in touch with Pasadena Humane and they are gearing up for kitten season down there. Our goal is to travel there and bring back 5 litters at a time. We will be needing to add about 25 NEW FOSTERS to help us help them. If you could just commit to fostering 1 bottle baby litter. It's really heartfelt and fulfilling to do this. Our medical staff is available to you 24 hours a day, so you are not on your own. We have your back! We have about 5 already signed up, but we need at least 20 more. This is your chance to help the LA fire victims and the babies that are going to be born into that toxic mess down there. The season will burst open starting mid-March. Hello all: We are in communication with several shelters and rescues in the City of LA as well as the county. In cooperation with Placer County Animal Services, we have made ourselves available for neonatal kitten transfers. Those poor shelters are inundated with animals from the fires. If you would be interested in stepping out of your comfort zones and fostering even 1 litter of kittens from Los Angeles, please contact Katy at 916-645-2217 (Landline) to get on our list. As usual we will be doing all the kitten intakes for our county, but want to reach out to LA with open arms and bottles. Also, please share with your animal loving friends.

Kitten Central is sending prayers to Southern California. With that said, we thought it best to do our own preparation for the day that we will all face the wildfires that have engulfed our beautiful state.
We (Penny) have investested over $100K installing a FIREPROOF roof, along with a sprinkler system for not only the roof but for our decks and our tough sheds that will be run by our private well and a 22 watt Generac system to be able to pump the water from the well even without electricity. New house vents with a filtration system stopping embers from entering. We have been working on this since last summer. The old roofs have been torn off and are now having the underlayment installed. The new roof should be wrapped up within 10 days.
This investment would help guarantee a better future for Kitten Central if the worst was to happen up our way. We are fearful that the day of everyone having to self insure is coming.
These wildfires will affect all of us for decades. I will post our improvements as we go, this will be a multi-month effort. God Bless you Southern California.
