We received the kindest words from Kristine Easter-Grover today (see below)! We adore our clients so much and Dr. Darrow will always do everything she can to ensure that they are happy, healthy, safe and well taken care of!

“Let's post some positive vibes in the community! I'll start! We just got back from vacation and while we were gone we had one of our pets boarding at Fetch and Stay in Norman. She is a diabetic and prone to pancreatitis especially when stressed. Dr. Kristi McColloch Darrow at the Newcastle Animal Hospital has been taking care of her for years. Dr. Darrow was aware we were going on vacation and boarding her at a different facility than her office. She instructed us to have Fetch and Stay call if they needed anything. A few days in to our trip Stormy reduced her eating significantly, which becomes tricky since she's on insulin. Often when this happens, her health can tailspin quickly. Fetch and Stay staff contacted Dr. Darrow immediately and she counseled them on signs to look for and next steps including coordination to transport her to Newcastle Animal Hospital if no improvement. Thankfully the staff at Fetch and Stay worked with Stormy diligently to get her back on track successfully.
Huge shout out to Dr. Kristi McColloch Darrow at Newcastle Animal Hospital and Fetch and Stay in Norman. You allowed this over protective dog mom have a much needed, relaxing and stress free vacation because I knew my pup was in good hands!

Newcastle Animal Hospital has amazing staff that truly treat your pet like a family member. Dr. Darrow has always been honest, gives you all of your options and will recommend OTC or home remedies to help keep cost down if applicable. Her clinic also offers boarding which we've used and loved the service.

Fetch And Stay has an awesome staff, including a vet tech. They offer boarding and daycare. I'm always nervous to leave my pup on vacation because it breaks their normal routine but Fetch and Stay staff are amazing to answer all of my questions and eliminate all concerns. They support daily calls and send pictures. This was the first stay with them since Stormy was diagnosed and placed on insulin. They were absolutely amazing and I will be booking them for my next vacation!”

We have a lost French Bulldog at the clinic. The dog was picked up in OKC by a police officer and brought to the clinic last night by a client. We have notified all of the shelters in case someone call looking for their Frenchie! Please share!

Some happy for your week - Today Dr. Darrow got to see the cutest herd of Weimaraner puppies! Though it may look like she’s being *viciously* attacked (😉) - this is her happy place and she loves to see all pups, young and old💕🐶🩵🐾

Dr. Darrow still has three Frenchie puppies looking for their forever home! We wanted to share a bit of their personalities - so here’s a glimpse at each of these sweet pups (check the comments for some cute videos!). Send us a message for details!

Puppy 1: This handsome boy is such a character. He lets you know when he wants to be help and cuddled, but he also LOVES toys and will play for hours.

Puppy 2: This little guy is small, but mighty! He loves to play with his siblings and he is a big fan of naps. When he was little he fell asleep in anyone’s arms who would pick him up.

Puppy 3: This gal is a pistol! She has a ton of energy and will run and run and run. She thinks she’s bigger than the big dogs and will play with dogs 6 times her size. She’s so curious about her surroundings and loves to explore.

Dr. Darrow has a Frenchie pup that would be perfect for any home! This little boy is a blue fluffy (long hair) French Bulldog. He is a total sweet heart and will be the perfect hunk as a pet and/or a breeding male. Respiratory disease outbreak!
Their have been multiple cases of canine influenza and Streptococcus zooepidemicus reported in local shelters and clinics.

Clinical signs consist of respiratory symptoms such as: nasal discharge, lethargy, coughing, fever, and eye discharge. Both influenza and streptococcus are spread extremely easily through aerosol and fomite contaminates ( dog bowls, toys, bedding).

We recommend limiting your dog's exposure to other dogs. Recommend avoiding dog parks and doggy daycare if possible.

We are not letting any pets exhibiting respiratory symptoms in the clinic or for boarding. If your pet is exhibiting symptoms we will schedule you a car side appointment. Please call from the car or come in without your pet to check in for these appointments.

Due to severity/contagiousness of these diseases we are unable to hospitalize patients with acute symptoms.

If your pet has been diagnosed with the flu or is coughing you need to isolate your pet for 3 weeks and 1 week after resolution of symptoms.

We are not currently requiring our patients to get the canine influenza vaccine. We have ordered the vaccine and should have it soon if you would like to vaccinate your dog.
