Microchips greatly increase the chances that pets will be reunited with their families if they are lost or stolenโฆbut a microchip only works if its registration information is accurate.
Not sure if your pet has a microchip? Just ask the next time your pet is in and we can scan to check!
Not sure if your information is up to date or which microchip company you need to contact to find out? We can provide you with contact information based upon your pets microchip number.

If you ever want to check your pets microchip number, or see if they have one (most rescued and adopted dogs have a chip from their rescue or shelter), just let us know and we'll scan your pet the next time they are in!

To remind pet owners to have their pets microchipped and to keep the registration information up-to-date, American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) joined together to create Check the Chip Day. With support from HomeAgain PetRescuer, the AVMA develops materials to promote the event.

Did you know that Integrity Veterinary Center in Northampton, MA offers urgent care services by appointment 7 days a week from 8a.m to 8p.m?
What is an urgent appointment and what is an emergency? If your pet has an ear infection, skin infection, hot spot, new lump or bump or one that is growing, is straining in the litter box, is squinting or is experiencing sensitivity to light, excessive panting, coughing, vomiting or diarrhea, these are all examples of appointments that qualify as urgent care appointments.
Emergencies are broken limbs, hit by cars, respiratory distress, collapse and seizures just to name a few.
By utilizing urgent care facilities when appropriate, when you can't get in to your regular veterinary clinic, you reduce the strain and wait time at emergency clinics.
With our urgent care hours expanding soon, we thought it would be a good time to post this helpful chart to assess if your pet needs urgent care or the emergency vet.
We know how scary it can be when your pet isn't feeling well.
Save this to your phone so you can access it quickly if you need it.

A reminder from our friends at WCSO that it's that time of year when its too hot for spot to wait in the car!
Hot days are coming!!! ๐ฅ๐ฅต Be prepared and always call your veterinarian. Remember, dogs don't sweat like people, they sweat through their feet, which is a small surface area. And DON'T cool them down too fast, they could go into hypothermia.
Don't leave a dog in a hot car call 911 or WCSO 802-365-4942
SAVES, one of the hospitals that we refer patients to for emergencies after hours and when we are at capacity during regular business hours, has updated their hours for the months of May and June. Please see the schedule in the original post below.
There was a Rabies positive fox from Saxtons River last week....
Rabid animals show a change in their normal behavior, but you cannot tell whether an animal has rabies simply by looking at it. Enjoy wildlife from a distance, and protect cats and dogs with rabies vaccine.
Has anyone seen Remy?
Sorry for the screenshot but it was the only "shareable" way to post that he is missing. If you have seen Remy or know where he is please do not contact the clinic, please contact the owners in the screenshot below. Thank you!
We are officially closing at Noon due to severe road conditions and power outages. We will be here until noon to answer phones, but power is in and out. Stay safe everyone! It's nasty out there.
Good morning. We are open currently, but will re-evaluate at noon depending on the ongoing weather. The roads in Newfane are passable but a bit icy, so please use caution and stay home unless necessary. We will be here to answer phones until at least noon.
Due to current weather we are closing a bit early this evening; we will be closed at 6:30pm, and will update our hours for tomorrow pending ongoing weather. Stay safe everyone!
Most dogs and cats will most likely be unaffected by the solar eclipse next Monday but livestock, wild animals and pets that live outside may be affected and show a change in behavior such as being more active at abnormal times. An example would be a nocturnal animal that may be more active during the day.
A total solar eclipse is coming to North America on April 8.

This little guy is Gunner. He came in to say Hi last week and found a "new toy" while he was here. We have some more adorable pictures of him with his first staff snuggles that we'll share <3 ๐ถ
Cuterebra!!! Have you ever had a pet with a cuterebra? Have you ever seen one? What are we even talking about? Bot fly larva! A bot fly will lays it's egg inside a small wound, usually these occur on a pets chest, near their armpit or lower abdomen. The wound can be a bot fly bite or other small wound - and when we say small, we mean really small. Think bug bite small. After a few days the larva hatches and as it develops, it needs air. The bite becomes an open wound that acts as an air vent for the larva. In the video you can see the small larva coming to the surface for air and then going back in. This is a relatively small larva in comparison to some. Dr Winot carefully removed our little larva friend from this cute little pup. The wound will heal over in a few days.
Who says that cats don't like exercise? Who says that cats can't learn "tricks"? Ashley taught her cat Paige to use the treadmill in just a few minutes! We had challenged Ashley to teach her cats how to use the treadmill because her feline friend Molly had gained a few pounds. Ashley did a great job training Paige! Next up in training is her feline friend Molly.....look out Molly, you'll be in great mouse hunting shape before you know it!
We just drew the winners for our Christmas Stocking. The winners have been notified by phone. Congratulations "Comfrey" Clarkson and Debbie's herd of dogs - Sunny, Annabelle, Nibbles and Yogi - please share nicely :)
We apologize for being a little late in posting our winners from the costume contest. It has been a busy week! The canine winner this year is "Beetlejuice". His owner sent us this video when she submitted his photo. The feline winner is Paige in her candy corn witch costume. All participants received a "treat" and winner's can pick up their trick or treat bucket packages at the office at their convenience. Thanks for participating!
Heads up! Porcupines are beginning to move about more. We had a quilling last week and one of our staff members caught this short video of a porcupine that crossed the trail that she was on today. This is a porcupine "hustling". Pretty sure that turtles are faster. You'll want to have your volume quiet, there's a loud beep at the end when the frigid cold of today drained the phone battery.
Kamir Update: He went home today! He never did develop an abscess but on Wednesday night he seemed even worse. 3 laser treatments and 4 days of cage rest later (yes, that's it, no pain medication since Wednesday), and look at how great he's walking! Its not 100% but on Wednesday night his prognosis was very poor. He wasn't moving his left front leg at all and was unable to feel pain in his toes, which is an indication of severe nerve damage; a very bad sign which lead to his poor prognosis. We all know that laser therapy works but we continue to be amazed by what it can accomplish!
