100% Support good breeders and don't be ashamed to get a quality Purebred Pup.

Don't get us wrong, nothing wrong with a rescue, but should be proud of a well bred pup.

This is the story backing the petition...so sad... & Unnecessary.
**UPDATE**

Please read the bottom for the latest news regarding this situation with Amy Lewis.

I wanted to tell the public the story of my beautiful, smart, energetic, lovely little girl Nova. Nova was fostered by my wife and I since she was 8 weeks old. 5 months later she died in the "care" of the Niagara County SPCA on December 23rd 2021. Two days before Christmas, Nova was to have her routine spay and be adopted fully by my wife and I. Unfortunately Nova never made it home for Christmas.

I am going to be as transparent and truthful as possible about the information we have about the Niagara County SPCA, Dr. Budik and Amy Lewis.

When we fostered to adopt Nova, we were never given a choice on what Veterinarian we could use for her spay. Now we had no reason to believe that anything would go wrong, due to Nova being perfectly happy and healthy in our eyes. But, we were never given an option for pre-surgery blood work to make sure it was safe to operate on her. We were given no choices whatsoever. Amy Lewis and the Niagara County SPCA.

On the 23rd in the morning, my wife received a call that Nova did not make it through her routine surgery. Her heart had stopped several times and she died on the table. Amy went on to tell us that Nova's surgery had "complications". We were told by Amy Lewis that Nova had issues that were "congenital in nature- that Nova had pulmonary edema, rounded, deformed liver lobes and nodules on her omentum".

IF she had a laundry list of congenital issues, why were we not told about these health issues prior to us fostering her? Did the Niagara County SPCA not do a thorough check up on these puppies before they were placed in foster homes?

A seven month old puppy, whose litter mates all made it through their spays and neuters just fine, had several congenital issues...yet we were never given a single piece of paper to corroborate these findings. My wife and I find this very suspicious based on the lack of transparency of Amy Lewis.

We weren't given the option to take home Nova's body, so a second Vet could take a look at her. My wife's information was filled out on the cremation form, and her body was sent off to be cremated so a second necropsy could not be done.

I will not mention the name of the establishment that cremated Nova, because they were the sweetest and most caring people during this entire process. I was however told that Nova's body had arrived with her INTESTINES hanging out of an incision, that a large gash was cut into her shoulder blade area. Now I don't know if this is part of a spay or a necropsy, but when your dog died on the table twice, has it's intestines hanging out and a large hole in their chest, you have to start asking yourself what really happened.

I am warning EVERYONE, to please not use the Niagara County SPCA while it is under the supervision of Amy Lewis. Please feel free to read several articles about the Niagara County SPCA within the past 2 years. Please adopt through a private organization, one that doesn't treat animals like a surgical assembly line or as Amy calls it, “High volume spay/neuter”.

ANYONE that currently has a dog fostered to adopt through the Niagara County SPCA, please seek outside veterinarian services. If anyone has gone through this heartbreaking situation like I have, please reach out to me.

Nova will never come home, but I am hoping that everyone else's beloved pets live long and healthy lives.

If the Niagara County SPCA is reading this and would like me to take this post down, or want to send a cease and desist letter. Save yourself the paper, go to hell.

**UPDATE**

Just to be clear, we DO NOT blame Dr. Budik, our entire concern is soley with Amy Lewis and the board. We are PRO SPCA. We completely respect the hard working people on the ground.

3 days ago Amy emailed my wife and I about meeting with Dr. Budik and requesting medical records, she never responded. I was personally blocked from their page to defend our position from multiple lies on their “save face” post. Amy Lewis also cancelled the Niagara Counties SPCA’s contract with the crematory because they told me the truth, costing the SPCA tons of money to use a different company out of pure ego.

I will attach the emails sent so people can see how Amy simply disregards a simple and fair request.

The finest Silver Labs in WNY

Located near the shores of Lake Ontario in Newfane, NY – we pride ourselves in breeding the finest Silver and Charcoal Labs in the Western New York area. Their striking and unusual color is the added bonus to owning a lab.

Our dogs truly live "a dogs life"... during the day running thru our 17 acres of fields and woods, or swimming in the pond... and at night sleeping at the foot of our bed. They do not live in a kennel and are not overbred. At most, we have 1–2 litters a year. These puppies are hand whelped in our home and daily handled and socialized. We are very selective in our choice of prospective owners as we want only the best for our puppies.

Our dogs are all AKC registered and come from the best lineage with strong hunting backgrounds. We have taken the time to investigate the parentage of each of our dogs so as to pass on only the best genes to our future litters.

We welcome you to visit our "kennel" to see our dogs first hand. We see your purchase of a pup from us as a lifetime commitment. First, from you – to give your new addition love and attention for his/her lifetime not only until their puppy looks are matured to a dog. Secondly, from us – we are here as support for you... for any questions or concerns that may arise. We are always willing to take back, without question, any pup that is not able to be loved to the fullest.
