I grew up in Stratham in the early 80’s. The Collectors Eye has been a landmark in Stratham as long as I can remember.

It recently got a facelift, so it was only fitting to update the iconic sign.

It is a replica of the original sign. I and was able to reuse the patinaed copper detail to keep the antique feel.

The backer is made from iroko and will age nicely in our New England weather.

The letters are machine carved from 3/4” Komatex, which are attached via stud mounts. The fasteners into the building are hidden behind the letters to keep a nice clean look.

I will update with photos of two signs that hang above the porch.

Water Street BookStore in downtown Exeter.

This was one of the first businesses I approached when I branched out on my own. Took a while to get our ducks in a row, but I was finally able to get my hands on it!

I feel it’s a modern take on their original sign. The carving added dimension, and the book brings it to life.

Sign panel is made from Komatex and machine carved, while the book is SignFoam and done by hand.

Really enjoyed making this piece.

If you or anyone you know has an old sign that needs a little TLC, or a new business looking for some curb appeal, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I love making signs.

Couldn’t find the font anywhere, so I hand tranced the text from the original sign.

Fun to make, would do it again.

Currently working on the Water Street Bookstore sign in downtown Exeter. The machine carve had a mishap and had to start over 😫.

As you see in the picture, the bit plunged too deep causing the text to look like bubble letters!

Never good to have to start something over. It costs you time, money, and doubles your timeline.

I know every tiny detail of the signs I make. Whenever I drive by, I know the mistake is there. The goal is to have no one else to be able to see it. In this case 👎🏻 redo.

The other photo is of the books that will attached to the sign.

Should be hanging the sign in a couple weeks. I will update with some finished photos.

The WordBarn sign! This was a really fun sign for me. There were all kinds of ups and downs during the process. In the end, I feel the end result looks great!

Each letter is hand carved from iroko. They were originally stained, but after a short time, it was clear there was not enough contrast, so they were painted white and outlined in black.

I tried to document each step I took, but unfortunately gave up when it came to the interesting stuff 😂.

It’s nice to see it getting changed! Most signs I make look the same every time I drive by. I enjoy seeing what new events they have coming up.

Thanks to Ben from The Word Barn for his patience with the project!

Main entrance sign at NextEra Energy Seabrook.

Thanks to Kyle Barry for knowing me AND trusting me to take on the job.

Jackie for being my go to, and helping out tremendously on mapping the site out, supplying all the information I needed, and being safety conscious to make sure no one got hurt.

And to Ashlee, the top dawg at AMI Graphics for dealing with me.

Ryan 1 and Ryan 2 for being hands when I needed it.

Lance D (untagged for being cool)!

There are multiple other direction signs out up on the property. Photos to follow.

To most, a sign is a sign. To me, I look at it as a big art project. I appreciate every hand involved that helped me.

Got asked to do a sign last minute. So that’s what I did. Had to do some rearranging of my schedule, but when you have a good customer, that’s what you do.

Started at 5:30pm, finished carving just before 4:00am. Stained and sealed it by 9:00am and ready for his trade show.

You’ll be seeing a lot of hand carved signs on live-edge slabs coming from me soon. They are going to be very popular. If you’re interested in a sign, let me know. If you want some slabs, let me know, and I’ll introduce you to the Slab Master.

*** I also make tables, coffee tables, and a plethora of other functional pieces from his products ****

black walnut is growing in popularity. If you’re interested, jump on it.

Do your kids want to spruce up there room before school starts this year?

I’d be happy to work with you to come up with a cool custom accent wall. Below is one I did for my son for his birthday.

The wall is covered in brick pattern on vinyl, the graphic as 6’ wide by 3’ tall. The only limitation is your imagination.

My most recent sign: Twin Pines Driving Range

This was such a fun project! It took me longer than I had anticipated, as there was a lot of details. I used 14ish different colors to complete the sign.

There was also a lot of damage from being out in the New England weather for many seasons. This is another Reedy Sign, sign. It’s the first one of his I have redone that was made of SignFoam, a high density urethane, all the others to this point have been wooden.

My favorite part about this project was the details involved and my son Jameson helping me. It was really fun having him show interest in both helping and signs. He even said “hey Dad… making signs is kinda a cool job” 😎 We hit golf balls after reinstalling the sign, and I think he’s got the golf big. The hardest part was the pine cones. It was a challenge, I went off of a photo of the old sign. I think they turned out alright.

I’m currently working on another Twin Pines sign. It’s a NH Outstanding Tree Farm winner of 2006.
If you haven’t been to Twin Pines, you should check it out. They are on 125 in Epping just north of Jeremiah’s Meeting Place.

Latest signs project for York Animal Hospital!

I had a lot of fun doing this project. I also ran into multiple problems. Some caused by me, some caused by my son “helping”. Either way, the end result came out great.

The sign is all brand new, but replicates the existing sign. The upgrades would be using a thick, all purpose enamel which should protect it through years of New England seasons.

The white logo panel was reproduced by tracing the old image and digitizing it. The image is directly printed onto 3mm ACM, a composite material. Bring printer eliminates peeling vinyl and resistant to fading.

I used all stainless steel fasteners to ensure they don’t fail due to weathering. The posts are coated in a clear polyurethane to prevent decay and give it a soft sheen.

I’d like to thank AMI Graphics for helping me with the logo panels. And correcting the damage that I self inflicted on one of them 🤦🏻‍♂️.

As well as Vance Tarantino for his help with unloading the sign out of my truck and the installation. He was a pleasure to work with, and would highly recommend him for any of your future projects.

***Recent sign restoration***

This project meant a lot to me. As I’ve said before, I LOVE Reedy Signs, and love restoring his work all over the Seacoast.

Second, I live in Newfields, and both my kids attended NES. They enjoyed seeing their playground sign around the house and getting restored as well.

I had a lot of fun bringing the playground sign back to life. It needed the attention, and now it’s good to go for another 20+ years!

These are my favorite types of projects, keep me in mind if you have any sign or restoration needs.
