Starting on August 1, all dogs entering the U.S. (including those that left the U.S. and are returning, and regardless of the country they are coming from) must be:
• healthy upon arrival
• at least 6 months of age
• microchipped
• accompanied by a CDC Dog Import Form receipt and required vaccination and veterinary documents.

Additional requirements may apply depending on where the dog has been in the last 6 months and whether or not the dog was vaccinated in the United States.

Our girl Ellie is still missing! Please help us find her - she ran off Friday from the 105 / Berry Rd area - there have been possible sightings at Lowes Hardware in Banner Elk, and another possible sighting on 221, near the parkway - so she could be anywhere. She's very skittish, but loved and missed so much! We're offering a reward, and need her to come home. Please share far and wide, and call 8288326359 if seen. We miss our Ellie!!

We are seeking a full time Veterinary Assistant who is enthusiastic in providing excellent care for companion animals and who has great multi-tasking abilities.

The ideal candidate needs to be a strong team player, organized, detail oriented, energetic, efficient and dependable. Duties include: surgical assistance, venipuncture, radiology, pharmacology, animal husbandry, client education, lab specimen collection, preparation and analysis, and animal restraint.

*PREVIOUS VETERINARY EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION *

We're offering a Family Dog Manners class and a Canine Good Citizen Prep class in January in conjunction with Mayland Community College. Registration isn't ready just yet, but I am starting a wait list! '

If you would like to join us, please message me your email address, and I'll let you know when classes are live for sign-up! You will register through the college.

Family Dog Manners is designed to instill essential manners and behaviors in dogs aged 6 months and up. This program is ideal for owners seeking to cultivate a well-mannered, confident, and sociable companion.

CGC Prep focuses on refining obedience skills and instilling good manners in dogs, setting them on the path to becoming a well-mannered and responsible member of the community. Testing is not guaranteed as part of this class. Teams that demonstrate the skills necessary to pass the test will be invited to complete the test the last day of class.

This evening we had a Good Samaritan bring in a dog hit by car. She is a young Hound mix, age unknown, with no microchip or collar.
She is in critical condition and before we could get any information on where he found her, the Good Samaritan left.

"Our Xena got loose from her collar at Mountain View Campground in Roan Mountain 5/6/@1:00 p.m. She was spotted multiple times at the beginning of Sugar Hollow Road and on the main road thru the state park at the entrance to Heaton Creek and at Sugar Hollow. We have searched and called multiple times this afternoon. Her last spotting was at 3 p.m. around 133 Sugar Hollow Road. We are offering a reward. Ray & Teresa Burchett 423-383-0949 [email protected]. I have posted her on 2 lost and found pet pages. She is microchipped and I have reported her lost."
