Stable Riding

Stable Riding I grew up in the beautiful Mohawk Valley area of upstate NY, and I mean 7 hours upstate, on a dairy farm in Vernon Center. This is just the beginning!!

Like most horse-loving humans horses just came naturally. I was blessed with having horses at a young age and the ability to show locally as well. I attended SUNY Morrisville College in Equine Science and Management. I worked vacations and summers at the college caring and showing the colleges' horses. After college and a few opportunities in the horse industry, I was welcomed to join Tami and Gar

ry McAllister's team as an assistant trainer. Their main focus was AQHA trail, pleasure, and all-around horses, but they also had a wide and unique diversity of horse breeds that came to them for foundational training. I enjoyed the experiences of all the different horses that came through their barn. I moved to the great state of Georgia in 2002. Landing in Atlanta and then Fayetteville, working in different fields, I still maintained the love and desire to own and care for horses. Once here in GA I also landed in the booming film industry and what a great experience that has been, working on some great projects including Marvels Wanda Vision and movies like Goosebumps. All the while I continued to study, attend horse clinics and keep forging toward my goals. Stay tuned to my page and watch things grow.

๐ŸŒŸ Looking for a better place in your life? More meaning, more value, more positive content? ๐ŸŒŸ

Sometimes, the change we seek starts within. The way we speak to ourselves shapes how we see the world around us. ๐Ÿ’ญ

When we shift our self-talk to kindness, we begin to see the beauty in others. If youโ€™re quick to judge others, try holding up a mirror and reflecting on those same words.

Self-love is not selfishโ€”itโ€™s the foundation of gratitude and respect. The more we value ourselves, the more we recognize the value in others.

Remember, the words you whisper to your heart are just as powerful as the ones you speak aloud to others. Letโ€™s lift ourselves up so we can lift each other too. ๐Ÿ’–โœจ

Colossians 4:6 says, โ€œLet your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.โ€

In relation to dreams and aspirations, this verse can serve as a reminder to approach conversations about your goals with grace and wisdom. Here are a few reflections on how this verse might relate to pursuing dreams:

1. Grace in Communication: When sharing your dreams with others, ensure that your words are kind and considerate. This helps in building supportive relationships and gaining encouragement from those around you.

2. Wisdom and Insight: โ€œSeasoned with saltโ€ implies that your words should be meaningful and thoughtful. When discussing your aspirations, provide well-considered insights that can inspire and inform others.

3. Preparedness: Being able to โ€œanswer everyoneโ€ suggests being prepared to explain your goals and the reasons behind them. This preparation can help you articulate your vision clearly and convincingly, garnering support and understanding from others.

4. Encouraging Others: Your conversations about your dreams can also inspire others to pursue their own goals. Speaking with grace and wisdom can create a positive impact, encouraging those around you to follow their own aspirations.

By applying Colossians 4:6 to your pursuit of dreams, you can ensure that your communication is effective, inspiring, and supportive, helping you to build a network of encouragement and shared vision.

Ponies are so misunderstood in the equestrian world. It's so easy to missusse physical strengh with the ponies because they're much smaller than horses and often significantly smaller than the human.

They're easier to tug on and pull.

Because of the ignorance towards their emotional states such as fear or frustration, related to it defensive behaviours are often labelled as "stubbornness", "naughtiness" or "viciousness".

Ponies are often in a danger of not being taught the basic handling and behavioral responses, so where humans think ponies are being "stubborn" or "cheeky" what we actually can observe is the lack of understanding of cues that allow for safe handling.

Their attempts at self defense are often met with instant punishment which doesn't teach them what to do but further strengthenes their fear towards what the human is going to do to them.

Ponies deserve training and interactions that are based on empathy, understanding of the spiecies specific needs, setting up for success and tuning in to their emotions.

Just like any other type of an equine, ponies should be trained with application of the sciencific approach that is based on LIMA (least intrusive , minimally aversive ) and the Humane Hierarchy principles which contributes to their emotional well being.

Hedge you thought of this? ๐Ÿ™ƒ
Food for thought!

Growing a tall hedge (3.5 m high and 2.6โ€“4.2 m wide) and trimming it every three years is good for the environment and for the health of your horse.
Good for the environment because a hedge this height/ width stores the most carbon in the soil underneath it and contributes to the biodiversity of the soil. Over trimmed hedges have a reduced ability for both.
The best hedge plants, ie those that store the most carbon and are impressively good for the health of the horse in order โ€ฆ
1. Hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna) the highest ability to store carbon, full of antioxidants and phytonutrients to help with metabolism, inflammation and arthritis.
2. Blackthorn (Prunus spinosa)- high in flavonoids to reduce inflammation, support metabolism and give strong protection against free radical damage.
3. Bramble (Rubus corylifolius)- strong immune system support and improves metabolism.
4. Spindle (Euonymus europaeus)- an important plant for the horse to nibble, contains antimicrobial compounds active against many pathogens, its also anti- fungal.

Iโ€™ve been posting these informative posts and illustrations in some ways for me and also to share with you.

Iโ€™ve been gifted with the curiosity to learn all I can about the proper biomechanical movement of the horse so that I can make good decisions about groundwork and riding exercises that benefit the horse. To allow the horse to stay soft, supple and sound. Taking the time to understand biomechanics and the way the muscles work is crucial to achieving athleticism in any horse.

Very well put. Sometimes to create the healthy posture you have to go through the ugly or unwanted to allow the misalignment to learn to loosen and flow. In return gaining strength towards the goal.
