The City of Newport Beach has partnered with Home Free Animal Sanctuary to provide animal sheltering services. These services include the boarding, care, and feeding of animals collected by NBPD Animal Control. Thank you for being part of an incredible year at the Newport Beach Animal Shelter.

In 2025, we welcomed 330 animals, helped 120 find their way back home, and watched 162 others start new chapters with loving families. From kittens in foster care to long-timers like Blue Bell and Buttercup finally finding homes, every moment mattered.

Here’s to another year of second chances, wagging tails, and the community that makes it possible.

Home for the Holidays Adoption Event THIS SATURDAY! No appointments needed. Join us this Saturday, December 6, for our Home for the Holidays adoption event at 20282 Riverside Drive. From 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., every animal in the shelter will have a $10 adoption fee, sponsored by FONBAS.

We will have plenty of dogs, cats, and kittens available for adoption. Jack the husky and Olive the cat, pictured on the flyer, will both be available. We will also have holiday décor for sale from Made by Monana.

Meet Doc! Doc is a 5-year-old Beagle boy who is now available for adoption. He's great with kids, does well with other dogs, and has plenty of Beagle enthusiasm. He walks well on a leash and loves being part of the action.

Meet Bobby. He’s a 15-pound mini poodle/lhasa apso mix who is now looking for an approved home or rescue. Bobby is blind and deaf, but he’s very sweet and just needs a quiet place where he can stay comfortable. He doesn’t have any known medical issues outside of his hearing and vision loss.

He also does not photograph well, as you can probably tell, but he makes up for it with his gentle personality.

The Newport Beach Animal Shelter is excited to introduce Fredrick, a 10-year-old black male Cocker Spaniel who is now available for adoption. Fredrick weighs about 35 pounds and is blind in one eye, but he gets around fine and enjoys the company of people.

Fredrick does not do well with children, so he will need an adult-only home. He is a sweetheart and will need regular grooming. He is neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated.

Meet Olive! Miss Olive is an 8-month-old sweetheart who is now available for adoption! She was an owner surrender and lived with another cat in her previous home. She is incredibly affectionate, curious, and loves being close to you. She followed the camera around the entire time, which made photos a fun challenge.

Olive is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. If you are looking for a loving kitten who wants to be part of everything you do, she might be the perfect match.

Meet Abby! Abby is a 12-year-old Chihuahua who has been with us since January. This girl has been patiently healing from some skin issues, which are now well managed, and she’s finally ready to find her forever home.

Abby is deaf, but that doesn’t stop her from enjoying life. She recently joined us at the Mariners Library story time, where she sat calmly with the children and even let the little ones pet her. She’s a sweet, easygoing companion who would love a quiet home where she can curl up on your lap and soak up all the love she deserves.
