These services include the boarding, care, and feeding of animals collected by NBPD Animal Control. Meet Opal! This 6-month-old sweetheart is ready to find her forever home. Opal is playful, affectionate, and gets along great with other cats. She can be a little shy at first, but once she warms up, she loves to play.

The Newport Beach Animal Shelter is pleased to introduce Kylie, a 4-month-old retriever mix who is now available for adoption. Kylie is a happy, affectionate puppy with a sweet temperament and playful energy that’s sure to brighten any home.

While Kylie is still young and will benefit from continued training, she is eager to learn and ready to form a strong bond with her new family. Shelter staff believe she would do especially well in a home with older children who can help her thrive in a loving environment.

Fireworks can be frightening for pets. Please take steps to keep them safe:

• Keep pets indoors and leave them at home during festivities
• Close all windows and doors to prevent escapes
• Play calming music or white noise to help ease anxiety
• Make sure ID tags are on and microchip information is up to date
• Do not bring pets to fireworks shows or crowded events
