Howdy folks 🤠 Sorry things have been a little quiet over here. If you have been living under a rock, rescues and shelters all over this country are beyond maxed out, as adoptions are at an all-time low.

But please enjoy this image of our sweet angel Egavas, who has been in foster with us for over TWO YEARS. She is a little older and is FIV positive, but neither of those things should deter you from adopting her! 😻We do have some recent kitten intakes- photos coming soon!

If you aren't looking to grow your FURRy family, we would be so thankful if you would donate something from our Chewy or Amazon.com wishlists! (Food and litter are always needed!) We have some sad news to share. While we were trying to find Pepper her second chance family, her foster momma had a hunch something wasn't right. After taking her for a more thorough veterinary exam, it was discovered Pepper had a mass growing in her mouth that was making it difficult for her to eat. For a myriad of reasons, Peppers condition was untreatable, and she was freed from further suffering. 🌈 Rescue isn't easy. We thank our supporters whose donations funded all the care that went into Pepper over the past several months. Your efforts were not in vain! Let this serve as a reminder that you are your pet's best advocate and that cats by nature are extremely good at hiding pain and illnesses. If you've followed us for a while, you may remember Socket.🔧Socket has been with us for over a year now, and is ready for go to her FURRever home. With help from our followers, we were able to remove Socket's painful infected eye in the fall. This girl is tenacious, and can be stubborn. She would do best in a home with another cat (or two) and likes to play with toys. HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!
Snickers has officially been adopted!!!
We have been working on this adoption and are so pleased that his new mom is fully committed to his tummy needs and we are overjoyed with excitement (and some tears). We had to be sure he was going to the perfect home and we feel we landed the best! I do believe we have made his OG mamma proud of our selection.
Congratulations Snickers and I sure am gonna miss your big handsome face!!!! 😘

A belated memoriam post to recognize New York Broadway acress Sarah Rice, who lost her battle with cancer earlier this year. Sarah was the original Johanna in Sweeney Todd, and was once quoted saying she "arrived in NY with $100 and two cats" back in the 1970s! Sarah had adopted multiple cats from us, flying them back to her home in NY. This is what we mean when we say we serve Hampton Roads and BEYOND! Labwork is important for cats too! Did you know that most dogs get labwork yearly, yet cats are often overlooked. Cats are very good at hiding pain and we often wouldn't notice an issue. Routine labwork on your cat can stay ahead of health issues and help keep you informed.

We strive to run labwork yearly in all of our foster cats that are 8 years of age and older and, of course, on any cats or kittens that are showing other signs or reasons to run panels much sooner. Age is just a number, and every patient is much different. Speak with your vet on what may be best for your pet.

We are only able to provide this valuable service for our fosters through donations from you, our generous supporters! Help us bring our running tab at the veterinarian down to a reasonable level! Touie is one of our more challenging fosters that is learning to trust humans and showing love 💕. She can be very guarded but has come so far! The FURR Foundation started in 2010 when the Animal Clinic of Eagle Harbor took in a paralyzed cat that needed a wheel chair. Since then the group has been donating time and expertise to help rescues with medical procedures and adoption services. In 2018, they received their non profit status. Every donation is tax deductible. The FURR Foundation is also a member of Amazon Smile. By choosing them as your organization, 5% of your purchases will go to helping local animals in need.
