IMPORTANT NOTE: The shelter is open daily from 8:00am until 5:00pm for owner surrenders, stray drop-offs, and owner re-claims. If staff is not available at the front desk for any of these needs, simply call the number on the door, and a staff member will be happy to assist you. ws, Hampton, Poquoson, and York County, Virginia. This new facility physically embodies each area's dedication to its citizens and to homeless animals. As a result, the shelter will provide necessary resources and services to the citizens of each jurisdiction in terms of education, adoption, outreach, and animal care. These services are represented by the three goals of the shelter's mission: Rehome, Reunite, and Reeducate.

Hey, I’m Jerry! A super pup with a tale that’ll wag your world. Once, I lived with a family, but they moved and left me behind. I didn’t let that stop me. I used my bravery and loyalty to protect our home from pesky squirrels, mailmen, and even a rogue vacuum cleaner! I was the hero of the neighborhood, but heroes need sidekicks, right? Meet Shrek... Shrek is a couch potato defined... a true house hippo... the epitome of relaxation in one big bundle of mush. All this boy wants is a comfy place to lie his head down, a few good meals a day and some humans to give him scritches every now and again. Not too much to ask for, right?! If you're looking for an easy going companion who is great with everyone he meets, doggos included, maybe you'd like to meet this ham!

"Meet Shrek!

Brought home this potato to get a break from the shelter for a while. He is the absolute sweetest most gentle pittie ever. And the talking - it is the cutest thing! We think he was used for breeding because he loves to hump but he listens well so we’re working on it. He loves toys and bones and attention lol. The shelter folks told us he says good morning and they weren’t joking! He is a real gem and someone is going to have a great companion with this one!"

Hello there, I’m Milo. My days are filled with playfulness and gentle cuddles. I’m a mellow soul, but don’t let that fool you, I’ve got plenty of energy for a good play session. My friends here tell me I’m FIV positive, but that doesn’t slow me down one bit. I’m just as sweet and friendly as any other cat. I love a good nap in a warm lap and I’m always up for a friendly chat. I’ve got a lot of love to give and I’m looking for someone special to share it with. Forever Family Fursday is here to bless your timeline!

This week goes to Axle! This beautiful floofy boy did not take long to find his new home! One look into those eyes and his family knew it was fate! We love a successful adoption!

Here is a bit from his new family:

"This is our boy Axle who while in the shelter was named Ace. We have only had him since February but he was the best addition to our family. Axle loves car rides, bones and to be anywhere mom and dad are. He especially loves when it’s bedtime and he cuddles with mom, even though he’s not that small. We are so thankful that PRAS has helped us find two amazing fur babies."

Who loves Pocket Pets?!

Currently, we have three lady guinea pigs who are on pregnancy watch for about 2 months... they would LOVE to find a foster home while they wait to see if they have babies on board!

We also have an adorable Dwarf rabbit, Ramon, and a very cute Lion Head, Matthew, looking for foster/adopt homes! They are scheduled for their neuter surgery already and may be adopted after their post op period.
